Don't Dream It

...be it!

I love a good performance of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. We went to see the live shadow cast Lips Down on Dixie perform at the Plaza Theatre in Atlanta. It was awesome, as always!

This is Jeanie and her friend Leslie before they got their lipstick Rocky virgin V's on their foreheads. Leslie even got the honor of holding the criminologist's book during a part of the show. Pretty ballin'.

Butt shot!
Yes, those are heels I have on with leopard print pajamas. It was a take on Columbia in the touch-a touch me scene. The real pj's are stripes, but this is what I had! I did have the mickey ears and crazy makeup though, so it counts.

[How fun would it be to wear one of those costumes for Halloween?]

I always enjoy this show. I don't think I could keep the smile off my face. It's just so fun! Sometime soon I'll go back, for sure. If you're in the area you should definitely check them out. They put on a great show!

Kangaroo Pants

Jeanie wanted to show off her kangaroo with pants necklace. Yes, it exists and it's a gem.

Obviously she feels victorious when she wears it.

It's a jealousy-inducing piece of jewelry. It's from the Great Grandma collection and I'm not sure what purpose it served in it's early days.  It's being put to good use now though!

Home Sweet Tourist

I'm finally back home!

I'm kind of enjoying how I look like a 90's tourist in this outfit. I'm pretty sure this shirt is originally from some sort of island tourist shop.

The buttons are wooden. Pretty cool.

shirt: thrifted
shorts: thrifted Levi cutoffs
shoes: xhileration; target
necklace: great grandma collection
bracelet: i forget.

(I was trying out another camera today and seeing how much background blur I could get with a low aperture number. I feel like this has a bit more depth than my other camera.)

Gotta have some goofy pictures in front of the ivy.
I'm glad to be home even though I have a few things to get done before I go back to school. Such as practicing for marching band time and setting up my cable so I'm not internet-less when I get there. Only two more weeks left to be lazy.

Keepin' My Pimp Hand Strong

I'm pretty sure I shouldn't buy any more stuff while I'm up here. We went to the mall twice and to the thrift stores within the past couple days and now I'm broke. But I got two new dresses and a new pair of shoes at the mall. I also thrifted a leather satchel purse for $12. It's kind of awesome. So that's that.
shorts: forever 21
shirt: forever 21
cardigan: h&m
shoes: shoe carnival
belt: forever 21
flower hair clip: forever 21

I was trying to model my owl ring but, as Jeanie pointed out, it seems that I'm trying to keep my pimp hand strong.

These shorts are so nice and light. Their only problem is that they ride up when I walk for a while. Oh well! They have a ton of nice colors included in the print and they're cute so that makes up for their shortcoming.

Also, how cool is this ruffle neckline? Well, I like it!

If You're Into It

Monday was filled with sitting around Grandma's house and a mall trip in which we spent nearly two hours in Forever 21. I left with a pair of shoes and a dress.

This is Jeanie's Wolverine keychain. He accompanies her adventures:

shoes: target
skirt: forever 21
belt: thrifted
shirt: mystery shirt
sunglasses: 5 below
necklace: forever 21

It's Jeanie's golden harmonica! Like Alvin.

She would like you to know that she forgot to pack a variety of belts so the owl is present in 90% of her outfits while we're up here. But he's a cool owl so it's okay.

I'm a couple days behind on pictures for whatever reason, so these are from Sunday. We went to a graduation party and the house was filled with awesome antiques, old pictures, and nick nacks. I had to snap a picture of the cool old singer sewing machine and mantel clock.

I'm determined to have a mantel clock someday. Seriously. I love those things.

Jeanie and I were once again asked if we're twins at the party. Nope, we're 3 years apart. Maybe we should just start replying that we.

I'm staring at you from behind my navy-with-yellow-bows sunglasses.
I still haven't made up my mind about my jeans order. Thanks for all the helpful comments about what I should do. On one hand I want high-waisted because they'd be made for me and fit perfect. Those are difficult to find because I don't have a huge difference in waist-to-hip ratio. Then again, I like mid-rise because they're classic and will always be good to have. Also, I'm so short waisted that mid-rise would probably be quite high on me anyway. Woe is me. What am I ever to do?!

This is a Song

Jeanie's family reunion outfit:

belt: thrifted
shoes: target
skirt: forever 21
ring: forever 21
shirt: probably forever 21?

Why this picture turned out so bright, I don't know. I can't wait to get a new camera.

This ring is pretty fantastic.

I wish I'd have taken a picture of the array of food we had at the reunion, but I didn't. Maybe next year! The Irish carbomb cupcakes my aunt made were delicious. As was the pulled pork. I have a weakness for pulled meats - especially pork. So tasty.

I'm pretty excited because I redeemed a Chictopia reward for custom jeans at IndiDenim. I can't decide whether I want high-waisted ones or mid rise. I've set my mind on a dark wash and straight leg though. Any ideas?

Happy Monday!

Reunited

We're back in Illinois! Mostly for a family reunion that occured yesterday. I decided I had to wear my sailor dress because it's adorable and so comfy for this hot weather.
dress: forever 21
shoes: forever 21
hair bow: h&m
bracelet: vintage from great aunts
earrings: forever 21

I really really love this dress. Anything nautical makes me happy. When I tried this dress on we all laughed at how young I looked in it. It grew on me the longer I had it on and I decided I just had to buy it. It's so perfectly light and summery. It's even lined so I don't have to worry about my underwear showing [which is always a big plus!]

The family picnic was pretty good. I ate a lot of these tasty sugar cookies my mom made into a cookie bouquet. They're seriously the best sugar cookies ever.

This is my pocket pose. Pretty cool, eh? My camera fit perfectly into them for the whole evening!

Mischief Managed

Tonight was the midnight premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2. Jeanie and I happily dressed up as Hogwarts students! The movie was epic and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't believe that was the last midnight Harry Potter premiere I'll be at.

In the week leading up to the premiere we watched a Harry Potter movie each day. Needless to say, we were pretty pumped by the time Thursday rolled around.

The 3D glasses were Harry Potter style!

I'm sweeping Jeanie.

Already Worn In

Here's a Jeanie outfit today!

Jeanie thrifted both the top and shorts in this outfit. The top is flannel so it was a bit toasty for Georgia summers. However, it was a great find because it's already nice and worn in! Perhaps I should borrow it at some point in the fall/winter...

top: thrifted
shorts: thrifted
shoes: target
sunglasses: 5 below

I'll be taking inspiration from this outfit later on in the year. Perhaps with the addition of tights.

Thank you to my new followers! And all my loyal non-brand-new ones too. I love you all. I'm glad somebody finds my blog interesting enough to come back to!

P.S.: Don't worry. There will be a Harry Potter costume post.

overalls/dress: forever 21
tank top: target
shoes: bongo; kmart
pin: vintage from great grandma collection
headband: extremely old

I'm loving my awkward dancing pose in the above picture. I never know what sorts of pictures of myself to expect when Jeanie takes them. Usually me doing some strange dance or posing with trees.

I hadn't worn this pin yet even though I've had it about a year. I'm trying to start incorporating the pins I have into my wardrobe. I find it difficult to accessorize sometimes simply because I have so many options.  This one is made of some sort of porcelain so it's pretty fragile. But it's so cute and happy!

I realize now that I should have pinned the straps shorter than I had them. I'm very short-waisted so the top part is a little too big and bags up on me a bit. Oh well!

Only a couple days until the Harry Potter premiere! I'm getting so excited. Jeanie and I are going to the midnight show and we're planning some Hogwarts costumes. Be prepared!

Oh Chicago

I love going into the city when we're up near Chicago.  My cousin shot these pictures while we were having dinner at another cousin's apartment. [You may soon realize there are a lot of cousins. These are cousins of my mom... and therefore cousins of me too?] So thank you to her for letting me use these pictures!

dress: forever 21
cardigan: delia*s
shoes: crate & barrel
hair flower: forever 21

I'm particularly fond of the first picture of us peering over the ledge. I don't have enough candid-like pictures in my life! Those are sometimes the best sort of pictures, I think.

The dress I was wearing has really cool back cutout detailing. I'll be sure to showcase it next time I wear it as it'll be too hot here to wear that dress with a cardigan for a good long while. Seriously, it's like an inferno outside.
