Just Being Classy on a Thursday

Happy Labor Day weekend! I'm sure glad to have a few days off. Things have been busy even though I've just been doing normal class stuff. I don't even want to think about when I have to do presentations and tests and crap, so I won't. I'm excited to do some things that aren't school for the next couple days.

I wore this to dinner with some old friends yesterday. I was fancier than intended, but I wanted to wear this dress! I got it at Target on clearance for $12. I figured it'll be good for job-related things down the line. It also has fun fluttery sleeves.

Of course, before we went downtown after dinner (and after I came back to my place and finished my essay) I changed into my downtown-party-time clothes because this is a little too classy for going drinking in downtown Athens.

I was supposed to go out tonight too, but I think I should recover before game day tomorrow. Hooray football time! And hooray Labor Day weekend!

Life Lately: The Past Couple Days

It's been rainy and sort of glum outside because of the hurricane rolling in. I don't mind as long as I have coffee, tea, and don't have to go outside. I appreciate that it cools things down a tiny bit too. These past couple days have been filled with a rainy grocery trip, cooking delicious soup, and a visit from Mom. I can't complain about that, but I will complain about the hours of reading I've already done for my Friday class. Booo. I'm trying to cram in all the stuff I need to do tonight so I can meet up with some old friends tomorrow evening. I'm not sure it'll work, but I'll try!

Bought some Jittery Joe's coffee. Micro roasted and local. Yum:

And that's all!

In a Psychotic State (T-shirt)

This is probably my most favorite shirt I own. I've never seen another like it. Even looking it up online yielded no same results. It was my dad's back in the day so that gives you an idea of how tight the men's t-shirts were in, I assume, 1982. There are pictures of me wearing this shirt as a little kid because it was given to me to sleep in. Now I proudly wear it as a (sort of) adult!

t-shirt: from Dad | skirt, belt: thrifted | shoes: xhileration - target | earrings: charming charlie

My poor feet are once again torn up from my sparkly loafers. I need to figure out some way to wear them in because my ankles are sad. I walked to campus in them this morning and ended up calling Matt with a plea to "bring me my leopard print flats for the love of god I'm dying". Well, it sort-of sounded like that in my head. They're so pretty, but so painful for walking distances. Luckily Matt is a kindly type of boyfriend so he had them for me just a couple buildings over when I got out of my first class. He also had tortilla chips from lunch which I proceeded to nom up like I hadn't eaten in a week.

It's either the pot of caffeine I just drank or the fact that I just bought four dresses from Modcloth for $58, but I'm feeling quite jittery in a good way! My Mondays always turn out nice even though I spend so much of the day in class. I am a sale fiend! I was seriously in a frenzy buying those dresses though. The clearance sales at Modcloth sell out so fast so I always feel like I'm in a race. Usually I'm too late to get anything in my size, but this one was a great success!

Hooray Monday!

A Day In My Life: Sunday Times

A boring day in my life, but a day nonetheless.
I thought I'd try a new type of post. I needed a bit of distraction today since I had so much school crap to do.

But seriously, this day was boring. Enjoy!

Noon: woke up, did some exciting dishes, waited for the coffee to brew.

After dishes: coffee time.

1:45: Getting down to business. Reading academic articles at the kitchen table.

7:00: Tired of sitting on a wooden chair. Move to couch to read more crap.

8:20: Reading is done. Time for leftover white chili and red cream soda (the red makes it healthier, right?).

9:00: Watching The Dead Zone.

10:00: Chocolate time!

Immediately after chocolate time: I hung up my new Uga poster. He's so cute.

Now: I'm updating the blog and then I'll get back to school work. Sundays are becoming the bane of my existence, but I try to make them better with delicious treats and occasional TV breaks.

Happy Sunday!

Bright Vintage Floral on Friday

Happy Friday everyone! I'm pretty exhausted from staying up too late getting class work done, so I figured I needed to dress in bright colors to wake myself up. This vintage floral skirt is one of my favorites because the colors are so pretty and vibrant. I wish it fit me around the waist better. It was already taken in, but I guess I was having a fat day the day it was measured for me because it has about an inch of extra fabric. Oh well! It's worth adjusting it during the day because it's so pretty.

Please excuse the weird things going on with my arms in these pictures. I'm clearly not a model and never know what to do with my hands. Awkward times.

Cheesy grin as usual. I can't help it; it's Friday!

I fully intend on putting aside a couple hours to read blogs this weekend. I'm so behind and I miss reading them all! All my class reading just takes so long and I don't want it to ever pile up so I have to stay on top of things. Let's just hope this Sunday isn't spend reading all day long like last Sunday! We'll see how that goes though. I tend to get distracted Friday and Saturday and not get anything done! Oops.

Have a nice weekend!

Things I Love Thursday

Happy Thursday everyone! Here's some things I've enjoyed around the internetz this week.

This arrow industrial piercing. I want. Seriously:

If I ever got a tattoo, it would be a pretty unlined one like this:

This converted telephone booth in England. It's a library. Take a book and leave one behind:

I don't know what this is, but it's full of lulz (sorry about the quality, but it's worth it):

Links:

* I can't get enough of Songza. The phone app is great too! It gives you commercial-free playlists based on what time of day it is and what activity you're doing.

* This Best Young Adult Novels list. So many great ones on there so I'd have to agree.

* This 80's & 90's love Tumblr.

* Snopes.com urban legends database. Go there and learn some things. I've been browsing that site since about 2000 so you know it's good!

Hodgson's, Ice Cream, & High School Inspiration

Hello! I can't believe it's already Wednesday again. I actually got out of the apartment today though even though I haven't done any of the reading I need to get done for Friday. Oops. Jeanie and I went to a local pharmacy up the street called Hodgson's for some $1 ice cream. It was delicious and we got to take pictures with the colorful bulldog statue outside.

They have these bulldogs all over Athens. They're all decorated in different ways and most of them are so cute. How can a bulldog not be cute? This one is by Hodgson's and a local coffee chain called Jittery Joe's hence the coffee mug decoration.

We enjoyed our delicious peanut butter cup ice cream. It probably wasn't necessary after our dinner of wings last night, but it was worth the short walk!

I've been feeling some really weird nostalgia for things I liked in early high school, so I figured I'd wear an outfit inspired by those days! I was pretty much always in t-shirts and jeans back then. These jeans are much cooler though (at least I think so now!). I even wore a band t-shirt (this one is The Good Life and I still love that band). The plastic heart necklace is a favorite from back then and I even wore a headband because I may have worn those every other day for two years.

Trusty Polka Dots + A Good Monday

Happy Monday night everyone!

Today I wore my trusty navy blue, polka dotted dress. I've been in a dress mood lately because they require very little thinking when I have to get up and go to class. I guess I'm just kind of sick of summer clothes and lacking much inspiration. It'll help when I actually have time to catch up on all the blogs I read. My bloglovin' reader is at about 800 posts so there's that. Anyway, here's my clothes.

dress, earrings: forever 21 | cardigan: mossimo - target | shoes: xhileration - target | belt: ralph lauren - thrifted

I've started this second week of grad school feeling much more confident! It may be because I actually did all my readings and whatnot, but I feel more prepared. I hope this is a feeling that stays with me for many more weeks! We'll see.

Today was a good day for being in class for so much of it! I mean, Matt and I made a pretty tasty dinner and drank a gigantic beer together. I can't ask for much more on a Monday.

Cobalt Blue Skirt + Karaoke Exile

Hello!

I wore my new cobalt blue skirt I won from Vamastyle yesterday. I love the color so much! There's a little print mixing in this outfit too with my dotted top and floral shoes. As much as I like this woven leather belt, the end of it just will not lay down correctly. It's like I have a tail on my waist and that's just weird.

I wore this outfit to karaoke night, but we ended up getting kicked out right before our turn to sing! Nooo! Apparently they decided to change the rules about age at that place so over half of our group was under age. It was lame and sad and now we have no place to go to karaoke. It's just crappy because I'm finally old enough to be at the bars and most of the people old enough to go with me aren't in Athens anymore.

skirt: vamastyle | top: kohls | shoes: ross dress for less | belt: thrifted  | necklace: great grandma collection

I'm definitely not back into the swing of school. I may have needed a longer break from college to be completely motivated, but it's only a couple more years and I'll have my masters degree. I'm just not feeling school right now and I've only finished my first week. Not only that, but I hardly did any work this week. Ughhhh. What have I gotten myself in to? It's going to be a long couple years...At least I have blogging and dressing up in all my clothes to entertain myself and give myself some sort of creative outlet.

Things I Love Thursday

Happy Thursday everyone! Here's a few things I enjoyed on the ol' internetz lately. You may be able to tell I'm pining for fall already which is a bad thing because it's only mid-August and we don't get fall until late October if that. So sad. I can dream though, right?

These 70's outfits. I especially love the berets.:

*Pretty sure I need this Peanut Butter Cup Brownie Cake in my stomach right now.

*This Pumpkin Frozen Yogurt looks so tasty. I may need some when fall rolls around.

*S'mores AND booze? Yes please. Someone make me the S'moretini.

* Classic kids' shows secretly set in Nightmarish Universes. I particularly like the part about The Jetsons.

Doing the Red & Mint Thing

It was about time I tried out the red and mint color combination I've been admiring on other bloggers. This was just a casual outfit for hanging around Athens all day. It ended up kind of crazy for what could have been a simple shorts outfit, but oh well! What can I say? I like color!

Matt actually took these pictures for me while I directed. As you can see, the stone wall at my apartment has returned! I know you're overjoyed by the sight!

shorts, cardigan, earrings: forever 21 | top: charlotte russe | shoes: self esteem - shoe carnival | nail polish: china glaze - secret peri-wink-le

I made a to-do list for today and tomorrow. It's quite extensive, but the tasks are mostly small things. It's been hard getting things done because Matt and Jeanie keep coming and going from my apartment. I just need a day alone to get things done! Maybe it'll happen tomorrow? I usually get more things done late at night anyway, so I can only hope that's what will happen tonight.

Happy Wednesday everyone!
