Just a Reminder...

Google Reader is closing down tomorrow so be sure to import your blog feed to another blog-reading site like Bloglovin'! I've been using Bloglovin' for a couple years now and really like it, so I recommend switching to it. I've also heard good things about Feedly, though I haven't personally used that site.

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Review + Swatches

Hey guys! Today I have a little lipstick review for you. I picked up four of the new Color Sensational Vivids lipsticks from Walgreens about a month back. I kept seeing them on the various makeup blogs I follow and decided I needed some ultra bright lipstick in my life.

Left to right: Shocking Coral, Pink Pop, Hot Plum, Vibrant Mandarin

Shocking Coral is a really pretty warm pink, but I wouldn't say it's a true coral.
Vibrant Mandarin is more what I would call coral if you're looking for that shade. It reminds me of a retro orange-ish red.
Hot Plum is not as dark as the picture would have you believe. It's a really wearable medium purple shade with a hint of pink.
Pink Pop was a last minute choice because Jeanie said I needed that Barbie pink color. Guys, it's really Barbie pink. It's a light blue-based pink that I don't have anywhere else in my collection. It's hard to wear sometimes because I'm so used to wearing warmer pinks, but it's a really fun shade that makes a statement (even if the statement is hey, I'm a cool Barbie from 1995).

Left to Right: Vibrant Mandarin, Shocking Coral, Pink Pop, Hot Plum

The lipsticks are really creamy and comfortable to apply. They're not matte but they aren't particularly shiny. They're not super long lasting but they're so pretty I'll let that slide. I find the colors don't last through a meal, but they'll leave a bit of a stain on your lips.

The packaging is vibrant and fun, but I kind of wish the orange covers changed according to the shade inside just so it'd be easier to find the one I'm looking for inside my big bag-o-lipsticks. I haven't had any problems with the covers falling off.

These retail for $7.99, but Maybelline frequently has buy one get one 50% off sales so wait for those if you want to save a little money.

The Bottom Line: The Color Sensational Vivids are very pretty and comfortable to wear. They won't last through a meal but you can always reapply. I recommend these if you want some bright, affordable lipsticks for summer!

White Polka Dot Dress & Yellow Wedges

How is it Friday already? This week went by entirely too fast.

I wore this polka dot dress on Sunday to hang out with some family friends. These fantastically yellow wedges are a recent Target purchase. I swear I always find the best shoes at Target. Mom spotted this pair for me though. They were on clearance for $7 so I had to buy them even though I have about a billion pairs of shoes. They were the only ones left and just happened to be my size. My justification is that I didn't have any yellow shoes yet. Can you ever really have too many shoes?
Yeah I'm probably getting to that point...

dress: forever 21 | wedges: merona - target | bow: forever 21 | earrings: an old gift perhaps?

Did I mention how much I love this dress? I really need to wear it more often. It's definitely coming with me to visit Illinois next month.

Have a great Friday!

Leopard Print Crop Top with Navy Blue Shorts

Happy Wednesday everyone! Here's an outfit I wore at some point last week. I know I wore these navy shorts with another leopard print top on the blog last summer, but it was time to do it again. This time I paired them with my new leopard print crop top. Hooray for crop tops and high-waisted things! I'm just really loving the bare upper abdomen thing this summer. I never really showed any semblance of torso skin in previous years, so I figured I might as well do it while I can.

Remember the whole above-the-crotch, below the bellybutton peek of skin with the super low rise jeans 10ish years ago? Because everyone needed to have a super long torso and stub legs? Yeah. I couldn't do that. My torso is so short it just looked like I was weirdly proportioned if I tried that. (Not to mention shirts were all made extra long then because the pants were so low...so there was no hope to even recreate that look on myself.) I don't even know how to explain it, but it was weird. Also I was 13.

Anyway the moral of that story is I'm glad I can participate in this trend. I like it much better anyway as there's less worry for flub to hang out since it's upper stomach. It also is kind of retro-tastic which I'm always on board with.

Here's a really luxurious pose for you guys. Hopefully you've realized by now that this is my usual face:

I got these sunglasses at Dollar Tree the other week. Seriously. You can get all kinds of cool sunglasses at dollar stores! Try it sometime!

Have a fantastic middle of the week!

Tuesday Tunes: Sloan - Oh Dear Diary

I've heard this song a few times on the Canadian alternative station while driving around. Now it's stuck in my head, so I'm sharing it for Tuesday Tunes! I really like this cool acoustic live version of the song. The original version is the second video.

There's just something really catchy about this song!

Sister Style: Heart Print & Chevron Dresses

Happy Monday everyone! Here's what Jeanie and I wore to a get-together last Thursday. There was plenty of fun had by all because Cards Against Humanity is a hilarious game.

These pictures were taken just when Matt pulled up to pick us up so they're obviously the most attractive. It's always awkward having extra spectators when outfit picture time is happening.

My dress is a recent Target purchase. I randomly decided to try it on because I didn't have anything like it yet. This is probably as close to the maxi dress trend that I'd get. It's just more flattering on my short frame if some leg is showing. It's also an incredibly comfortable dress, so that's always a plus!

Thrift-tastic Daisy Skort Romper

This number may look like a dress, but it is in fact a romper! A skort-like romper contraption I found at the thrift store. I actually think it looks pretty cute though! It had been sitting in my closet for months until I decided it was time to just put it on. This 90s-tastic daisy print is in again so I was extra inspired to wear it after seeing so much daisy print around the blog-o-sphere.

This is my face when I'm slowly sinking into mud:
romper: thrifted | shoes: bongo - kmart

Da butt pose. See it's like shorts back there!
Poses like the one above only happen when Jeanie takes my pictures, so I hope you enjoy.
(Really not the most flattering pictures this Friday. Oh well.)

Have a happy Friday!

P.S. I'm reading the crap out of library books this summer. Be my friend on Goodreads. I always enjoy getting ideas about what to read next from you guys.

P.S. again: This post is linked up with Coffee and Cardigans' Thrifter Thursday! Check it out!

Stripes and Scalloped Shorts in Virginia & Tuesday Tunes

I was looking through my pictures from Virginia and noticed I had a couple full body shots in there. So here's an outfit! I wore this on the drive up there so the shorts are nice and wrinkled, but that's okay. It was comfortable for the drive and for stuffing myself at The Homeplace afterward. The Homeplace is this great family-style restaurant up in the mountains. We used to go there when I was little and it's just as delicious now as it was then. Maybe I'll share some more pictures from the trip soon. I just have to get around to editing them!

Sorry about my blog slacking right now. This post should've been up yesterday but that didn't happen.

Also, here's a tune for today since it's Tuesday:

Pinafore & Black Lace

I wore this last week before I visited Virginia. I bought this pinafore last year and now they're "in" again, so that's good. I paired it with my black lace crop top and a pair of floral wedges that I don't wear often enough. There's also a tiny bit of an "arm party" going on. Aren't I so trendy? Yeah.

Bright purple-y lipstick!

Thanks for the kind comments recently. I promise I'll get caught up on your blogs soon. This week threw life out of wack, but I'm hoping to get back to normal soon. It's a weird feeling to not want to do anything at all. I picked up my library books again yesterday and went out shopping too so that's a start.

Have a great weekend!
