Remix: Red Wool Pencil Skirt

I wear a lot of red in general, but for whatever reason once winter hits I wear it twice as often! This red wool pencil skirt is one of the first thrift finds that became a staple in my wardrobe. It was about a dollar and all it needed was some hemming and a good dry clean! It has served me well since 2010 and has remained a favorite through the winter months (particularly December & February for obvious holiday reasons).

I really enjoy this skirt because it's a simple shape in a bold color. It's also the perfect length that works for casual times or going to work. High waisted pencil skirts are timeless. The good thing is that skirts like this are incredibly easy to find at thrift stores. Most of the time they're part of some former 80s power suit and just need a little hemming and a separation from their shoulder padded twin.

Next time you're out thrifting and want to take something home you'll actually wear, find a skirt like this. Pick any color. They're highly remixable. If anything, I hope you can get some inspiration on how to wear a red skirt from this post. I know some people have a hard time wearing red, but I think the bold color really makes most of these outfits. What do you think?

This doesn't usually happen in my remix posts, but I would absolutely wear every single one of these outfits again. Some of them were only on Chictopia so I could probably get away with wearing and photographing them again. As usual, click on the numbers below the pictures to see the full posts!

One of my first thrift finds ever was a high waisted red Pendleton pencil skirt. I haven't been able to wear it since becoming pregnant and I miss it so! It is a great staple! Love all the ways you've worn it here!

Thinking I need a red skirt in my life too! Such a classic and chic piece. All these remixes are just lovely Jamie. I think the one with the little red bow is my absolutely favorite :-)

I absolutely love your red skirt! Red is such a bold, beautiful color and I think it actually matches a lot of people (even if they don't think so). I love that your skirt is highly remixable. Every one of these outfits is gorgeous and so perfect for the holiday season! Though I would totally wear red year-round, too :). Even more amazing that your skirt was a thrift find. I actually have something really similar, it's a wool/felt-material type red pencil skirt that has been hanging in my closet for over 5 years. Hmm... this post definitely inspired me to dust it off and and put together a nice seasonal outfit with it :). (Happy to have found your blog!)

Dang, that red skirt really DOES give you a lot of mileage! I've actually thrifted one about a year ago and I'm not sure why but I never reach for it. I think it's because I'm a lot more comfy in A-line skirts and it's a pencil, but this post is definitely making me rethink my attitude towards it. Now I want to go play in it! :)
