Happy Thanksgiving weekend (and happy regular weekend to all my non U.S. readers)! I hope you're having a good one so far. I've spent mine relaxing with my family and stuffing my face with leftover Thanksgiving food. It's been a pretty delicious couple of days. Anyway, below you'll find some links to check out in case you're trying to find something to read on this long weekend. But first here's a little Instagram recap from the past couple weeks.

Outfit: Flannel Shirt, Maroon Leather Skirt, Thigh High Socks, and Black Loafers

This was the outfit I wore to the New Pornographers concert earlier this month. I bought this maroon leather skirt at Forever 21 with a gift card from my birthday. I didn't realize just how short it was until I saw these pictures! I mean, I felt a slight breeze on my butt walking to the venue but I just assumed it was the normal kind of short skirt breeziness. My nether-regions remained covered all evening but I think this is a must-wear-with-tights kind of skirt from now on. Nevertheless, I loved how this outfit turned out. I enjoy the over-the-knee socks look that other bloggers rock so I figured it was time to pull mine out again. Plus this flannel shirt looks good with just about everything and it kept me perfectly warm while out and about in Atlanta.

The concert was absolutely amazing. The New Pornographers is one of my absolute top favorite bands and this was the second time I'd seen them. They encored three times and played "Sing Me Spanish Techno" for their last song. I was hoping with all my might that they'd play it and finally they did! I knew every song. They broke out "Testament to Youth in Verse" among many other tunes spanning most of their albums. They do a great job playing a mix of old and new. I loved it. Can you tell?

I thought this was a very autumnal outfit to share for Thanksgiving week. I'm spending the week with my family at home and plan on eating my fill tomorrow. We never go out of town for the holiday and I like that. It's nice to stay around town. Someday that might be different, but not yet! Do you have any fun Thanksgiving plans?

If I don't blog tomorrow, have a great holiday US readers! Happy Wednesday!

Remix: Leather Pleated Skater Skirt

I bought this faux leather skirt from Forever 21 right before summer 2013 and it's been just as versatile for the summer months as the cold ones. The flared shape keeps it from being overly toasty when it's 90+ degrees outside but it's faux leather so it's plenty warm when it's cold outside. I have a leather pencil skirt too but I get more use out of this pleated one. It's just so easy to throw on in place of a regular black skirt. It would definitely work with an edgier look but I tend to dress it up like any other black skater skirt. It adds a cool texture to any outfit!

This kind of skirt is actually completely on trend. You can find a bunch of them in stores right now for very little money. A piece like this could easily become a staple in a wardrobe as a replacement for a black skater skirt. What do you think? Have you picked up any leather or faux leather pieces recently? Would you wear a leather skirt?

Outfit: Burgundy Leather Jacket and a Crushed Velvet Top Layered Over a Leopard Print Dress

I picked up this crushed velvet crop top from Forever 21 a few weeks ago with a birthday gift card. I couldn't resist its delightful crushed velvety-ness! I actually had a dress in almost this exact same fabric but it was way too large in the shoulders and bust so I gave it to my sister. This crop top fits perfectly though! For its debut I layered it over a leopard print high-low dress I got at Target a couple years ago. Layering crop tops over dresses is a great way to remix your dresses without adding a lot of bulk. This was kind of a perfect way to make this dress work for fall since it has spaghetti straps. I added my burgundy leather jacket for extra warmth even though I wore this before that big cold front blew down here.

I just realized that this is the third outfit post in a row featuring leopard print. I'm sorry for leopard overload! I promise I don't wear it every day. These just happen to be the outfits I got pictures of recently.

So how has your week been? I can't believe it's already Friday! I have a busy weekend ahead with a birthday party for Dad today and a Georgia football game tomorrow. Then it's Thanksgiving week! So there'll be plenty of delicious food in the upcoming days. I'm pretty excited about that.

Anyway, I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

October Favorites

It's already time for another monthly favorite outfit roundup! These always roll around so quickly. According to these favorites I've been really into leather jackets lately. I've been getting plenty of use out of my own black leather jacket since the weather finally cooled down. These outfits are all great inspiration for these up-and-down fall temperatures! I hope you enjoy this roundup and be sure to check out these blogs if you have a chance!

It's Not Her, It's Me and Midwest Muse both look fantastic in their black leather jackets paired with one colorful piece. I enjoy how these outfits let the colorful dress and skirt stand out.

A Walk In The Park has such a fun 60s vibe in her mini dress, mustard yellow tights, and vintage shoes. Styling Dutchman looks amazing in all black with a mix of textures.

What Olivia Did has the cutest swan print trousers and Style Story's all-black outfit is edgy and cool.

Rachel The Hat mixes prints perfectly with her comfy striped dress and plaid scarf. Selective Potential looks super cute with a flannel shirt layered over a white lace dress.

Outfit: Leopard Print Shirt with a Red Scarf Bow and Navy Blue Skater Skirt

Happy Wednesday!
A while back my grandparents were clearing out my great grandma's house and I ended up with many scarves of various sizes. Some of them were more like a necktie width without actually being neckties. I figured they'd be perfect tied into bows worn with button down shirts or worn in my hair, but they've mostly sat folded in a drawer. I'm making an effort to remember they exist!

This scarf tied into a bow was an afterthought but I think it makes the outfit interesting. Leopard print on its own sometimes isn't enough! I loved the way the subtle print in this red bow mixed with my leopard print button down. Sometimes its the accessories thrown on after getting dressed that really make an outfit special. Without the bow it's a pretty standard way to wear a leopard top like this. Navy blue is one of those colors that I naturally pair with leopard print. They're both neutrals in my book so I guess that makes sense!

Have you guys had a good week so far? I've been binge watching Gilmore Girls, job hunting, and working from home. That's the usual excitement of my life - except you can swap out Gilmore Girls for whatever I'm binging on at the time. I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving time which is approaching very quickly. Mmm food. I'm looking forward to my morning coffee. I'm looking forward to the day someone gives me a chance and hires me too. And I'd love to be living with my boyfriend again. I'm trying to enjoy the life lull as much as possible because things could be very different a year from now. We'll see. As for now it's a lot of sameness, but at least I'm catching up on my TV and get to spend time at home!

What about you? What have you been watching lately? Doing anything exciting this upcoming weekend? Let me live vicariously through you.

Have a happy middle of your week!

Outfit: Leopard Print Dress with a Leather Jacket and Wayfarer Sunglasses

Is there any place that calls for wearing leopard print more than the zoo? I wear leopard print for nearly any occasion but when Matt made plans for us to go to Zoo Atlanta I figured this leopard print dress from Boohoo would be perfect for the trip! This dress is one of my favorites and is very comfortable. It was a cool day so I paired it with my black leather jacket and the comfy black heels I got on clearance at Shoe Carnival a little while back.

Unfortunately I didn't see any actual leopards at the zoo. We stood and watched the gorillas for a long while. They're probably my favorite animal to watch. My not-so-inner anthropology nerd was showing. We also saw the fluffy giant panda cubs getting some treats and a kangaroo mom with a joey riding along. I've lived in the Atlanta area for well over 10 years and had never been to the zoo. It was a fun birthday present!

I can't help it. I love to pose with statues. The lizard one kind of looks creepily realistic.

Outfit: Floral Crop Top, Leather Skater Skirt, Fishnet Tights, and Black Loafers

I'm trying to force fishnet tights to make a comeback. I've worn a slightly less traditional pair of fishnet(y) tights on the blog before, but these are straight up traditional fishnets. They've been in my drawer for many years. I wore these to my freshman homecoming so it's the truth when I say they're old! They're actually a really nice pair of sturdy tights, not the fishnets that come with a crappy "sexy" Halloween costume. However you have to be careful that your outfit doesn't actually look like a sexy Halloween costume when you wear fishnets. I don't think a lot of people know it's possible to wear them with a daytime outfit. I think I succeeded in looking like a (relatively) normal human being. Wearing flats and not platform heels may be the key. Plus a fine fishnet pattern, if that makes any sense.

Does anyone else think tights like these look really cool from afar? I'm always a fan of pieces that add a neat texture to an outfit and fishnet tights definitely do that. This faux leather skirt always adds a nice bit of texture to a look too. I just really enjoyed the mix of black pieces in different textures. I tried to make things a little more colorful by wearing this floral crop top though.

Have you guys had a good week? I've been job hunting and doing all that entails. It's been a relatively uneventful November so far. I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving food. I always enjoy that time of year. Actually I enjoy the end of the year period. From October through December. January is always a downer then. In general, it seems like the year gets progressively better with each month. Or is that just me? I'm happy the cool weather has finally rolled in here in Georgia too. I can dig into my box of sweaters that I can only wear 1/4 of the year!

Anyway, I hope you have a fun weekend!

Outfit: Vintage T-shirt, Blue Shorts, Bronze Shoes, and a Wood Watch (+ Giveaway)

Happy Wednesday everyone! I know many of you will look at this post and be like, "How is she wearing shorts in November?" Well welcome to Georgia! Actually these pictures were taken at the tail end of October, but still. I figured I'd show you the first way I styled the super cool wood watch JORD sent me. I played off the colors in the wood with my thrifted belt and tortoiseshell sunglasses. I feel like navy blue looks really great with the red tones in the cherry wood too.

This is one of my go-to casual outfits. I love my vintage t-shirts and pairing them with high waisted shorts or jeans is always a good choice when I don't want to think about my outfit too much. The accessories kind of make the look though don't you think?

P.S. In case you didn't get a chance last week, scroll down to enter to win a gift certificate for one of these JORD watches!

Outfit: Floral Bell Sleeved Dress, Pink Tights, and Brown Clogs

Happy Monday everyone! This is yet another outfit I wore in Illinois in October. I really love this floral bell sleeved dress I picked up from Forever 21, so I keep trying to think of new ways to style it. Usually that means another color of tights or new shoes to switch it up but still show the sleeve detail. I know it'll be too cold to go without a jacket or sweater soon though! I've shown this dress with a jean jacket layered over top too which gives it a 90s vibe even though it covers the sleeves. Hooray remixing!

This look has a very monochromatic feel. I enjoy seeing others rock monochromatic outfits so I hope I'm doing it well too. I didn't realize just how much magenta/pink stood out in the print until I saw these pictures. The dark pink tights really bring out that shade and make the whole outfit look very pink! Anyway, I added my new clogs because they're delightfully retro just like my dress.

Did you guys have a fun weekend? We went out to Terrapin Brewery to hang out with my sister on Friday. I spent much of Saturday deep cleaning the vanity in the bathroom my sister and I have shared (on and off) for the past 13 years. I came across so many Bath and Body Works products from around 1999-2002 it was ridiculous. They were lurking in the back of the cabinets and linen closet too. It was time for them to go. Way past time. There were also plenty of butterfly clips and hair things of that nature. (I stored away the non-broken ones.) So after throwing out bags of various old products and corroded metal hair clips I finally have space to store my makeup. It's no longer spread all over the counter! I can actually see my palettes. It's pretty amazing.

I also ran over 2 miles on Saturday which is the longest I've ever run without stopping in my life. I'm pretty proud. I'm one of those people who hate running but it's becoming more tolerable each time. It's something I've always been really bad at. In school I was the girl who could do 12 pull-ups but had crappy flexibility and struggled keeping up with my friends during "the mile." (Now that I think back, there was no way I was pacing myself properly while trying to keep up with my much longer-legged friends so we could chat.) Anyway, I'm trying to get in better cardiovascular shape so hopefully this is doing it. We'll see!

Have a great start to your week!
