Outfit: Navy Blue Sailor Pants, Colorful Retro Shirt, and Red Shoes

Retro Colorful Button Down Shirt, Navy Blue Sailor Pants, and Red Shoes

Happy Monday everyone! I'm excited to finally show you this ridiculously colorful shirt I picked up on clearance at Target. I swear I find the best things on clearance there. I've worn this shirt a few different ways already because I love it so much. Here I paired it with another new item to my wardrobe, these navy blue sailor pants. They're so cute! I love that I'll be able to wear them casually but also in a work environment. I just really enjoyed how this outfit turned out!

Unfortunately I don't have a whole lot to say to you today beyond talking about my outfit. I'm starting a new job this week and am looking forward to The Color Run this weekend though. Things are starting to happen for me so that's good! I'm just ready for my eye to heal up and everything will be going well. Plus my only "normal" pair of glasses broke yesterday so I'll be happy when I can wear my contacts again. (Can you super glue glasses? Is that a thing?) It's hard planning outfits around loud/large glasses every single day!

Anyway, I hope you had a good weekend and are looking at a fantastic week ahead!

A Trip to Georgia Aquarium: Wearing Floral Pants and a Leather Jacket

Happy Friday everyone! Jeanie and I took a trip over to Georgia Aquarium earlier this month because I had some free tickets leftover from my internship. I enjoy wandering around the Aquarium, especially since I feel like I have plenty of interesting facts about the animals to share with whoever happens to accompany me. I really did learn a lot while I worked there even though I spent a lot of time in an office! I made sure Jeanie and I took some fun pictures with the dolphin statues out front. You can see a few of my favorite animal shots I took too.

Since it was a nice cool spring day I wore my floral pants from H&M and an olive green v-neck sweater. These bronze shoes are incredibly comfortable so I thought they'd be a good choice for walking around all day. I wish I had a close-up picture because I added a sand dollar necklace in honor of being at the Aquarium!

Once we were done looking at all the animals we walked down the street and found a Korean deli. It was basically a deli that also had a few traditional Korean dishes. So of course we got some spicy delicious foods and chowed down before heading home. It was a fun outing!

It can be hard to catch a good picture of the animals since they move so quickly, but I got a couple good shots this time. The first one is an African penguin, then a yellow bellied slider, and then a frisky Asian small-clawed otter. He was making all kinds of noises and looked like he was talking to us.

In other news, I got a full time, real adult person job! I start next week so the next couple weeks will be a transitional period. I went through it when I was interning (and finishing up grad school) so I know what a shock that change of schedule can be. I'm looking forward to it though! Things are happening! Finally.

Anyway, I hope you all have a great weekend!

Outfit: Black Turtleneck T-shirt, Leopard Print Skater Skirt, and Heart Print Tights

Somehow this outfit from late February managed to not get posted until now! It's not even that I didn't like it. (I did and do!) I just ended up picking other ones to post and realized it's nearing the end of March. It's about time to get any backlogged outfits from February onto the interwebz. I can't be the only style blogger this happens to though!

Anyway, I recently bought this classic black turtleneck t-shirt from Boohoo. I've been scouring stores around here for one like this and finally just went ahead and ordered one. It goes with everything and is incredibly soft. For its first time out I styled it with my neoprene leopard print skater skirt and added heart print sweater tights for warmth. It was pretty chilly the day I took these pictures and I was glad to get back inside and throw a blanket on.

I also had some awesome colorful makeup on this day and a new dark lipstick from Nyx. These pictures are making me really miss my eye makeup. Someday when my eye feels better I'll put it back on but I don't want to risk putting any possibly irritant on my eyelid until then! It's just bright and bold lipstick until that day.

I hope you're all having a good week! Happy Wednesday!

February Favorites

Happy Monday! I can't believe we're already toward the end of March, but here are my favorite blogger outfits from February 2015. There is a pretty big mix of winter and spring looks going on in this roundup so I hope you can draw inspiration no matter what the temperature is where you live!

CiCi Marie and Beauty in Insanity both look toasty and warm in their outfits. I love CiCi's fur collared jacket and Katerina styled her Ninja Turtles sweatshirt perfectly.

The Joy of Fashion and The Sweetest Escape are both rocking some colorful florals with pretty lace shirts.

The Fox and Fern looks comfy and cute, while Style Skittle looks fantastic in a nearly all black outfit.

Southern California Belle and Finding Femme both look gorgeous in retro novelty print dresses.

M Loves M's cute and simple shift dress looks wonderful with her pretty berry lipstick. It's Not Her, It's Me has the romper of my dreams paired with cute yellow accessories.

Be sure to check out all of these fantastic blogs if you get a chance. They always provide me with plenty of style inspiration! Have a great start to your week!

Outfit: Handmade Martini Print Dress, Mint Green Tights, and Purple T-strap Heels

Happy Friday! I thought I'd share an extra fun outfit with you since the weekend is upon us. I wore the martini print dress Mom made for me for Matt's birthday last week. I also wore this dress in Las Vegas for my sister's birthday so I guess it's just becoming the birthday celebration dress! Since it's quickly getting warm here, I wanted to wear this dress with some colorful tights before it's too late, so I went with this mint green pair I snagged from the kids' section at Target. The color played off the print of the dress really well. Then I added purple shoes because why not? I thought it was a perfect outfit for going out for birthday dinner and drinks. (Even though I didn't have any martinis...)

I'm kind of sad it's getting so warm here already because I enjoy being able to remix my dresses with tights and layers. I've had plenty of outfit ideas in my head this winter but I just don't get dressed every single day because I rarely have anywhere to go! Sad times. Maybe that'll change sometime soon.

Anyway, do you have any fun plans for the weekend? I don't! You can tell me about your adventures though!

St. Patrick's Day Outfit: Green Polka Dot Dress and Tan Loafers

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Usually I have an outfit with something green ready to schedule for the occasion, but not this year. This is actually what I'm wearing today! Luckily I had time to get outside and take some pictures of it.

I'm pretty sure this green dress is the perfect piece to wear for Saint Pat's. I added shamrock earrings (that you can't really see) and a shamrock hair clip to make everything more festive. You'll probably notice that I'm rocking my glasses again. My eye issue apparently never cleared up. Almost all of my pictures had glasses glare. How does one take pictures in glasses without that problem? Yet another reason why I prefer my contacts!

Anyway, I hope you're having a good St. Patrick's Day! We celebrated over the weekend but we've continued the celebration into today. I'm looking forward to Guinness stew pies tonight and perhaps a pint of Guinness itself. Yum!

Outfit: Turtleneck Bodycon Sweater Dress with Lace Tights and a Vintage Choker Necklace

This comfy bodycon sweater dress was a Christmas present. It's not a forgiving dress but sometimes I just don't care. I've worn it a few times since I got it but really wanted to show it to you with this pair of floral lace tights first. Unfortunately it's going to be too hot to wear this dress within a couple weeks. I guess I'll have to break it out again later this year!

These tights were actually a present too. They were ordered right before the Delia's website shut down so they were pretty cheap. Cheap tights are where it's at because they break so easily! I can't justify spending over $10 on a pair of delicate tights like these. It's nerve-wracking just putting them on, let alone wearing them all day! Luckily they were cheap so it won't be a tragedy if they get snagged on something.

Do you like the necklace I borrowed from my mom? It's super cool vintage costume jewelry. I'm a fan. Living at home again has some perks.

So do you have any big plans for the weekend? I'm going to see the new "Cinderella" movie today. I haven't been to the movies in a little while so I'm looking forward to that!

Have a fantastic Friday!

Outfit: Red Ralph Lauren Blazer with a Rose Print Dress

Happy Wednesday! I thought I'd show you an outfit made mostly of old pieces since my last post was full of new things. This rose print dress was one of my first thrift finds from a few years back when I really started getting into thrifting. It was definitely $1 or less at the thrift store outlet around here. Yes. A thrift store outlet. It's completely sheer and has the most horrendous puffy yet too long sleeves. The second button pops open all the time too, yet I've held onto it. I think that's mostly because it looks so good with this red blazer I also thrifted, but also because it reminds me of the days when I thrifted all the time.

I wore this dress and blazer together years ago before I had this blog. It was about time to pull these pieces out of the closet again! This time I styled it a bit differently with gray tights and my cutout boots/flats. (What are these shoes considered anyway? I just like them.)

One reason I enjoy recording my outfits is because the styles can vary so much. There must be a common thread to my general style but there is a wide range of things I like wearing. I dress according to how I feel that day! Sometimes I want to channel Debbie Harry and other times I want to rock a retro novelty print dress.

I appreciate people who have a signature look but that'll never be me. I like too many things. Style is just fun to me. Dressing my own body is a creative outlet. I think it always will be. Have you seen the "Advanced Style" documentary? I want to be those cool ladies when I'm old. If you haven't seen it, check it out on Netflix. I identified with so many of the things those women said about fashion and style, so you might too!

Sorry I was absent from the blog on Monday. If I disappear it's most likely because I'm preparing for a job interview. Monday was my boyfriend's birthday too, so I spent the evening with him tasting some beers at a local growler shop and having dinner together. He's the best. It's been a busy week already! I'm back to my usual blog schedule now though.

Anyway, I hope you're having a wonderful week!

Outfit Inspired by Debbie Harry: White Jeans, Striped Crop Top, and Leather Jacket

I was very excited when Boohoo reached out to me to create an outfit inspired by a style icon of my choice for their #TBT campaign. There are so many people I draw inspiration from but one of my favorites right now is Debbie Harry of the new wave band, Blondie. She continues to make bold fashion choices to this day but her late 70s/early 80s look is my favorite. Though I don't have her signature blonde hair, I can still try to emulate her super cool style.

I didn't see a photo of Debbie Harry wearing an outfit exactly like this, but I saw a lot of leather jackets, high-waisted denim, stripes, and sleeveless tops in this general shape. She liked to mix things up. You can get a feel for her varied style in a Pinterest search (some NSFW pictures though).

Boohoo sent me the striped top you see here, the white jeans, and the wayfarer sunglasses to create my look. They're all staple pieces I can wear multiple times. (Which I think is perfect because Debbie Harry would wear her clothes over again in different ways like a normal person.) This mock neck crop top will get plenty of use in the upcoming warm months because it's sleeveless and extra stretchy. I have a ton of crop tops from Boohoo but I'm particularly enjoying all the mock turtleneck ones they've been stocking recently. The white jeans were my most anticipated piece to receive because they're 100% cotton and a super retro shape. I had to wash them first so they shrunk up in the butt and thighs, but after that they fit very similarly to how they would back then. Plus they were the right length for me which is a super win!

I loved how this outfit turned out. Dressing like you're a cool person has a funny way of making you feel like you are indeed cool. I would wear a look like this even when I'm not trying to emulate Debbie Harry though. I guess that shows you just how much I draw inspiration from retro style icons!

So what do you think? Did I pull off a Debbie Harry look despite my red hair and the fact that I'm about 10% as cool as her?

Have a wonderful Friday!

(And P.S. - Yes it was warm enough for a crop top here the other day. Actually the jacket was a little much. It was in the upper 70s. Ugh. Heat.
P.P.S - I also know it's not Thursday. But I don't usually post on Thursdays so...)
