Review + Swatches: Nyx Intense Butter Gloss

Review of Nyx Intense Butter Gloss - New Spring 2015

I can't get enough of new lip products so I buy quite a lot of them, especially those in the drugstore price range. New formulas are particularly exciting to me! These Intense Butter Glosses by Nyx are a new addition to their line as of this spring and I'm a fan! They come in 12 shades in a great range of color.

I think their regular Butter Gloss is nice, but these are great for those of us who tend to like more pigment in our lip products. I'm usually a lipstick type of girl - not gloss - but these are so super pigmented I don't feel like I'm missing my lipstick. They're almost like a gloss/lipstick hybrid. Sometimes a glossy finish is fun, and on those days I'm reaching for my Intense Butter Gloss!

You can see quick swatches of the six shades I own below and my un-photoshopped, close-up mouth region. (Huzzah!)

Outfit: Black Floral Skater Dress with Back Cutouts and a Black Boater Hat

Spring Outfit: Black Straw Hat, Floral Print Skater Dress, and Bronze Sandals

Happy happy Friday! I'm excited to show you a very spring-y outfit today. I found this dress at Ross a couple weeks back for something around $12 so I had to buy it. I liked the fun cutouts in the back and dark floral prints are great to wear year round. For its debut I wore my comfy bronze sandals and a black boater hat from Nasty Gal. Clearly it was another glasses day too. I wore my new blue glasses Firmoo sent me. I've never worn glasses as much as I have this year!

Do you have any fun plans this weekend? I'm looking forward to the Creature Comforts brewery anniversary celebration on Saturday. I'll be heading back to Athens for the festivities! Sunday will most likely be filled with much needed relaxation.

I hope you have a great end of your week and that you're having a fantastic Friday!

Work Outfit: Striped Dress, Black Cardigan, Cat Eye Glasses, and Blue Flats

Business Casual Work Outfit: Striped Dress and Blue Flats
dress: h&m | cardigan: so... - kohl's | shoes: delia's | glasses: zenni optical | necklace: stella & dot

Happy Monday everyone! I suppose it's time I started showing you some of the outfits I actually wear to work. It's sometimes difficult to get pictures after work when I don't get home until after 7, but I try! I don't have a strict dress code at work, so I get to wear my normal clothes, which is nice. We have casual days Thursday and Friday and a relaxed business casual the other days. Basically, I can wear jeans two days out of the week. That isn't huge for me since I don't wear jeans all that often but it's nice to have options. I find a dress much more comfortable 85% of the time anyway.

I wore this striped dress and cardigan combo on one of the "business casual" days. This dress was a clearance find at H&M in December but it hasn't been on the blog yet. It's super versatile but I enjoyed styling it with only one touch of color from my cobalt blue flats. I think my new cat eye glasses kind of made this outfit though.

What do you think? Are you interested in seeing outfits I wear an entire workday? I feel like they're basically outfits I'd wear even if I wasn't working but it's interesting to see what people wear for different occasions. I know I enjoy seeing a variety of looks from bloggers I follow!

I hope you have a wonderful week ahead of you! Have a happy Monday!

Outfit: Galaxy Print Dress Over a Turtleneck Sweater, Herringbone Fishnets, and Silver Shoes

Heart and Solar System Dress over a Black Mock Turtleneck Sweater

Here it is again, the fantastic galaxy print dress Jessica of Midwest Muse let me borrow! I wore this outfit at least a month ago when it was a bit cooler outside. I layered a thrifted mock turtleneck sweater underneath and added some herringbone print tights. You may also notice that my hair bow almost perfectly matches the dress. How could I resist the urge to pair two galaxy print things together?

So this dress is definitely going on my to-buy list when it's back in my size (along with this Audrey 2 print dress at Pinup Girl Clothing.) Not that I need any more dresses. My closet is overflowing with dresses and I still want more. It's a problem. There are probably a couple that could go to Goodwill to free up some space though...

Anyway, are you happy it's finally the weekend? The week went by fairly quickly but I'm happy for some free time. The new job is going well but I definitely don't have much free time with the commute into Atlanta. It sucks spending 2.5+ hours of my day in traffic but I'm making money now so that's a big win in my life. Sometime soon I'll be moving downtown and then I'll have some of that commuting time back. It'll be wonderful! Things are good and might be even better in the near future.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! Do you have anything fun planned?

Happy Friday!

Outfit: Jean Jacket with a Floral Print Romper and Cutout Boots

Floral Print Romper, Black Tights, Jean Jacket, and Cutout Boots

I have a couple cooler weather outfits to show you from last month before they become extremely irrelevant. Here's one of them! For some reason I'd never worn tights with a romper before this. I guess I figured they're already so difficult to get off to use bathroom facilities that tights would add another awful step. Luckily they didn't make it a much larger problem. Plus this floral print romper is so incredibly short and flowy that the added tights coverage was nice.

This kind of felt like a fall outfit to me which is a-okay in my book. I'm actually dreading the humid summer heat we get here in Georgia and wish I could skip ahead to cooler days. You know how people dread winter because they hate leaving the house and going out in the cold? Well it's like that in the summer here - except hot. I spend most of the time inside because it's just awful out there! The summer is sure to fly by though, so I won't wish it away yet.

So what do you think? Have you styled a romper for cooler weather or do the extra layers along with wearing a one-piece annoy you?

Happy Wednesday!

Life Lately: The Color Run 2015

Happy happy Monday everyone! As you may remember, I did The Color Run for the second year in a row two weekends ago. It's more like a color walk because we do it with a big group of non-runners, but it's still super fun. We like to get with our group and come up with outfit ideas so we stand out. This year we went with capes! My mom, sister, and I added colorful wigs too. They come with the added bonus of not having to wash the color powder out of our hair after the event.

My mom is a very creative person and she drew and painted the cute bulldogs you'll see on the back of our capes here. They're color matched to our wigs too! "Why bulldogs?" you may ask. We just like bulldogs. I also like to think it's an homage to our deceased dog and to the Georgia Bulldogs. Because why not?

The entire event was a lot of fun, as expected. They changed up the colors this year and introduced orange in place of green and sparkly silver and glitter in place of purple. The glitter was a nice touch in theory. In actuality I was carefully picking the chunky glitter pieces off my upper and lower lashlines so they wouldn't creep their way into my eyes. Even after washing my hair I could see glitter falling out of it too! And I had a wig on! Despite the glitter issues, it was a great time spent with old friends and family. I'm excited to see what outfits we come up with next year!

Have you ever participated in The Color Run?

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are looking at a great week ahead!

Outfit + Firmoo Review: Pink Leopard Dress, Lime Green Cardigan, Blue Tights, and Blue Glasses

It was a wonderful coincidence that the people over at Firmoo asked me to review a pair of their glasses right when my eyelid issue started flaring up. I actually needed an updated pair of glasses with a correct prescription to wear on non-contacts days! I picked out these blue square unisex frames because I loved the color. The blue looked a little lighter on the website but I really enjoy how they look in person too.

The day I wore this outfit was one of those days where I kept piling on the color. Does that ever happen to you? Sometimes I just want to wear a ton of color! First I thought this pink leopard print dress would look fun with my bright blue tights. Then my lime green cardigan (which was a costume piece when I was in Grease in high school) was calling to me. So on it went! The glasses were kind of the icing on the multi-colored cake.

I was very pleased with my Firmoo experience. The glasses got here super quickly and came with probably the coolest glasses case. It's map print! These frames seem to be high quality so far and the lenses had UV coating and anti-reflection coating. Most importantly, I can see well with them!

If you'e never ordered from Firmoo you can get 50% off your first pair of already inexpensive glasses. I say give it a try. I order my glasses online almost exclusively (though I hadn't tried Firmoo until now) and it's always been a good experience.

Can you believe it's already Friday? I'm finishing up my first full week of having a real adult job and it feels great. I'm just ready for my eyelid issue to get better so I can go back to not worrying about it all the time. There's always some issue, isn't there? It's pretty exciting that life is moving forward now though!

I hope you have a very happy weekend!

Outfit: Galaxy Print Dress, Green Cardigan, and Holographic Flats

Happy Monday! Jessica over at Midwest Muse let me borrow her amazing galaxy print dress last month and I'm pretty sure I need one of my own. I styled it pretty simply here with a green cardigan and my holographic flats from Forever 21. I continued the space theme with the Star Trek earrings I got at Dragon Con last year.

I feel like this is a kind of unique spring look! The galaxy print dress could easily be swapped for floral print but the different print really stands out. The great thing about galaxy print is it looks good with a ton of different colors too. Yet another reason I need to get a dress like this of my own!

I started a full time real adult job last week and I'm getting used to a new schedule. I'm not a morning person so I'm trying to get enough sleep! Unfortunately my blogging (and/or social media) may suffer a little bit until I get used to everything, but I'm trying! I do have plenty of outfit pictures backlogged to share with you over this month though, so no worries.

Did you have a good weekend? I did The Color Run (more like walk) for my second year on Saturday morning. (Pictures to come!) Easter dinner was delicious but other than that I didn't do much of anything on Sunday. I hope you all have a great week ahead!
