Outfit: Olive Green Sweater over a Floral Top, Pleated Leather Skirt, and Cutout Boots

Pleated Leather Skirt, Olive Green V-neck Sweater over a Floral Button Down, and Pointed Cutout Boots

Happy happy Monday to you! I hope you had a fantastic weekend but now it's time to get back to reality. Luckily I have an outfit post to slightly brighten your day - I hope? I actually wore this to work on a more casual day but it's something I'd wear any day.

This olive green sweater is one of my favorites for this time of the year. The v-neck and thin knit makes it great for layering over my many button down tops. This time I put it over a floral print button down crop top because it complimented the green shades in the floral print. Then I added my faux leather pleated skirt and cutout ankle boots.

Matt took these pictures for me while we were out walking Riker after work. Sadly it gets dark by the time we're home from work now and Riker has to walk around in the dark. I'll have to give you a Riker pupdate sometime soon. He just keeps growing!

So did you have a good weekend? My family did the usual Thanksgiving delicious feast and spent a lot of time watching movies together. It's been a good break. I get an extra day of the weekend though because I took today off! Woo! Actually I have a dentist appointment so it's not too relaxing. I may go thrifting today though, so I'm looking forward to that.

Have a great start to your week!

Work Outfit: Wide Legged Floral Trousers with an Army Green Button Down

Army Green Button Down Top with Wide Legged Floral Print Pants

Happy Wednesday and happy almost Thanksgiving to all my American friends. It's been a little while since I shared a work outfit now that it gets dark before I get home, but here's one I managed to capture before daylight savings time ended.

These wide legged floral pants can be dressed up or down, which is good because they feel like pajamas and being pajama comfy at work is great. This time I styled them with a button down shirt to make them more work appropriate. I had some chunky heels on with this too, but you can't see them because of the grass. (Oops!)

I enjoyed the way my army green shirt looked with the muted florals on the pants. I tend to wear these army green and olive green shades during this time of year. They can act as neutrals just like navy blue. I think it's pretty great to wear a color as a neutral!

P.S. - Sorry for the lack of pictures here but the lighting really wasn't on my side.

Do you have any big plans for the weekend or for Thanksgiving? I'm heading home to stuff my face and hopefully relax. Should be a good time!

Anyway, I hope you have a safe end of the week. Happy Thanksgiving!

Remix: Burgundy Faux Leather Jacket

Different ways to wear a burgundy leather moto jacket
One | Two

I'm not sure why, but I've been wearing my burgundy leather moto jacket a lot this season. Maybe it's the fact that it's a leather jacket in a non-neutral shade or that it keeps me dry in the drizzly weather we've been having. Either way, it's a very versatile piece as you'll see here!

I usually like to pair it with neutrals - especially black - but it also works well with jewel tones and those toned down colors that fall fashion brings. This jacket is also the perfect length to look cute with dresses, which I'm pretty sure is because it's technically a crop jacket. Short girl tip: check out cropped jackets because they tend to hit at the length a normal jacket should which means your body proportions won't be thrown off.

Here are a few ways I've worn this trusty Forever 21 jacket. Feel free to click through to see the full posts!

Outfit: Brown Corduroy Shorts, Floral Top, Black Leather Jacket, and Pointed Flats

Brown Corduroy Shorts, Dark Floral Print Shirt, Leather Moto Jacket, and Pointed Brown Flats

There's something I look forward to styling each fall: tights and shorts. Tights and shorts are kind of a perfect combination for Georgia's extremely mild fall weather. Plus you get the added bonus of wearing fun patterns and colors on your legs while still showing off your legs. I know these are plain black tights here, but you understand.

I wanted to go for the black and brown color scheme here too. It's something I really enjoy when others pull it off. Neutrals paired together can look so nice and modern, so I paired my brown corduroy shorts with some black tights, a black floral top, and black leather jacket. The mix of texture and pattern makes it work, along with not combining too many different shades of brown in this one outfit.

What do you think? Are you a fan of shorts paired with tights too? Have you worn brown and black together before?

Tell me about your weekend plans! I don't really have anything coming up so it should be a relaxing weekend, I hope. Yesterday I went to see The Garden Lights at the Atlanta Botanical Garden for a work event so that kicked off the holiday season. It seems a little early for that still but I guess Thanksgiving is less than a week away now. At least I'm almost done with Christmas shopping so I can really enjoy the rest of the season. I just always get sad when everything's over but I guess it'a s little premature to be thinking about that when Thanksgiving hasn't even happened yet!

Anyway, I hope you have a fantastic start to your weekend. Happy Friday!

Outfit: Houndstooth Mini Skirt, Black Turtleneck, Dotted Tights, and a Wool Beret

Houndstooth Mini Skirt, Black Short Sleeved Turtleneck, Black Beret, Dotted Tights, and Flat Knee High Boots

I feel like this black and white outfit is a pretty classic look with a tiny bit of modern print mixing. It has a little bit of a 60s feel. The houndstooth skirt - yes it's houndstooth but it's hard to tell from far away - was a very early thrift find. It was hemmed into a mini skirt and I've been wearing it for years. This time I styled it with some tights with tiny dots, a fitted turtleneck shirt, a beret, and knee high boots. Something about tall boots and a mini skirt looks fantastic for fall. Also berets and turtlenecks.

Hats can really make a look but I always forget to add them to my outfits. I have a drawer filled with four berets but they're tucked away and I forget they're there. Anytime I remember, they end up making my outfit 100% better though! This black one was from H&M and is the perfect size for my small head. Plus it kept my head nice and toasty during a walk around town! Now I just need to remember to wear my non-beret hats...

How is your week going so far? Can you believe next week is Thanksgiving already? I'm looking forward to a couple days off work, eating lots of delicious foods, and spending time with family. I'll have to plan a Thanksgiving outfit that isn't just sweatpants too. Stretchy fit and flare dresses are always a good choice in my book. They leave ample room for stomach expansion!

Anyway, I hope you have a great Tuesday!

September and October Favorites

I know I've been slacking on some of my usual posts the past few months, so to slightly make up for it, I've combined my September and October favorites into one epic fall fashion inspiration post. I spy plenty of 70s inspiration, button-down skirts, shift dresses, and great little jackets going on this season. All of these bloggers are super inspiring so I hope you come away from this post with at least one new outfit idea!

The Styling Dutchman and The Clothes Horse are both rocking a-line skirts. I enjoy the 70s inspiration from Annebeth and the great mix of texture and neutral shades in Rebecca's outfit.

I couldn't choose which of Southern California Belle's October outfits were my favorite so here's both! These houndstooth trousers look amazing on her and I'm completely in love with her Audrey 2 skirt.

I love Melodic, Thrifty & Chic's monochromatic look and The Drawing Mannequin is rocking a super cool tie dye dress.

What was your favorite look and what clothes have you been enjoying most this season? I'm always a huge fan of fall dressing but I'm looking forward to incorporating a bit more sparkle into my everyday look with the holidays coming up. It's still pretty fall-ish through Thanksgiving though, so I'm embracing it with fall colors and light layers.

Have a happy happy rest of your weekend and be sure to check out these blogs for more style inspiration!

Outfit: Black Ribbed Mock Turtleneck Dress and Rust Orange Tights

Fall Outfit: Black Ribbed Mock Neck Dress with Rust Orange Patterned Tights

It's still very much fall here in Georgia so I don't feel bad showing you another Halloween-inspired outfit. I wore this the day before Halloween so it's orange and black with festive ghost earrings. This could definitely be worn right now without the ghost earrings though! The whole look kind of made me feel a little bit witchy (in a good way), especially after I added the gray eye shadows and gray-taupe matte lipstick.

I thrifted this black sleeveless mock turtleneck dress up in Illinois a couple months ago. It's kind of a stretchy ribbed material and very comfortable. I wasn't sure the length was going to work but I really like how it looks with these relatively modest height heels. The orange tights I'm wearing have been in my wardrobe for years and look nice with many more colors than just black. (Anybody else still pumped about being able to wear tights again? They make it so easy to remix pieces!) Finally, the ghost earrings are basically ancient. I think I had them in elementary school. That's old.

Anyway, now you can help me style this dress for next time. How would you wear it during a slightly cooler day?

I hope you're having an amazing week so far! My Monday has been productive even though it's been raining nonstop here in Atlanta and basically everyone has grown very tired of it. I know I'm tired of soppy trips outside to let the puppy out and walking to work in the rain!

Happy Monday!

Work Outfit: ASOS Green Skinny Trousers, Navy Bow Blouse, Rose Gold Heels, and a Brown Leather Jacket

ASOS work outfit - Brown Leather Jacket, Dark Green Skinny Trousers, a Patterned Navy Blue Top, and Rose Gold Heels

When ASOS contacted me and asked me to style a work outfit, I was absolutely on board! I'm always interested in finding new, versatile work clothes since starting my real adult job early this year. I knew I'd be able to find some great pieces for work at ASOS, especially since they have a petite line

I wish they had all the pieces here in their petite line, but the blouse was and I can tell you having a top made for short people is magical. The sleeves are the perfect length and, more importantly, the shirt hem ends well before the end of my butt. It makes a difference when you tuck your shirts in!

I picked out a pair of ankle grazer pants because they're cut shorter than regular ones. They still needed to be taken up a good inch or so though, which is why I have a rolled hem on the pair I'm wearing. Having my pants hemmed to a proper length is important to me because otherwise it feels like I'm a kid wearing adult clothes. It's always important to alter your clothes to fit but especially so for short women. It's so easy to look like you're playing dress up if your clothes don't fit. With them hitting at the perfect ankle length now, I'll be able to wear these trousers with flats too. It's always good to have options!

The faux leather jacket was to add some edge to an otherwise pretty classic work look. I like that the brown leather isn't quite as harsh as black leather and is really a pretty classic piece itself. It's fall and you can definitely wear leather jackets with business casual looks - especially when bopping around outside the office. An extra bonus: it's been keeping me drier with all the rain we've been having lately!

This whole look is my take on business casual when I'm not wearing a dress. Sometimes it's nice to throw on a pair of trousers and a nice blouse, but there's a more exciting way to do it! I think the combination of on-trend pieces with a mix of color, texture, pattern, and shine (What Not to Wear, anyone? Those are seriously good outfit tips!) makes the outfit special. Plus I added cool shiny shoes and cool shoes make any outfit 134% better don't you think?

Everything here is incredibly versatile. I'm positive I'll find a ton of different ways to wear every single piece here to work. If only it wasn't frowned upon to wear the same pants 4 days in a week...

Thank you to ASOS for collaborating with me and showing me the wonders that are modern petite shirts. (I do have a lot of thrifted vintage ones and never before thought about how they fit so much better than my non-petite shirts.) I hope I've inspired you to step up your work style, even just a little bit!

Have a happy happy rest of your week!
