Companies are just recently figuring out how to use Snapchat to promote their brands, but bloggers (particularly vloggers and beauty bloggers) have already begun to use the app to their advantage. Here are six reasons why bloggers should be on Snapchat (along with some beautiful saved snaps of my own to entertain you):
1. It lets your followers get to know you better -
Snapchat can give your viewers a behind-the-scenes look at your life. Generally people share snippets of things they wouldn't necessarily blog about or post on a more curated social network like Instagram.

2. It's less polished than other social networks -
You may be wondering why that's a good thing. Well, in a world of curated social profiles - think about your Instagram and Facebook pages - people like to see a glimpse of "real" raw life. We're all pummeled with perfect, Photoshopped images and highly edited content so it's refreshing to see content that isn't any of those things.

3. It's another way to promote your blog -
Are you collaborating with a new brand? Share a preview on your Snapchat story! Do you have some thoughts about a lipstick you just bought? Snap a mini review of it and let your Snapchat followers know when they can see a detailed review on your blog. Just like you promote your blog on other social networks, Snapchat gives you another platform to push your blog content.

4. It can help you reach new fans -
Snapchat is where young people live online. If you're a blogger, chances are you want to grow your following and younger people (millennials and gen z) are the largest demographic in the world today. Reach those people by creating content on the platforms where they're spending the most time! Just last year, more than 50% of Snapchat users worldwide were young millennials and 41% of American teens used Snapchat, so it makes sense to have a presence there.

5. Lets you easily add video to your brand -
Live vlogging or making videos for YouTube can be intimidating, but people in the U.S. are spending more than 5 hours per day watching video content. Easily enter the video arena with short, easy Snapchat videos. There's no pressure if the lighting is less than great or worrying if you'll want the world seeing the video a year later because they're impermanent. Making Snapchat videos may even get you used to talking to a camera and help you ease into creating video content on other platforms.

6. It's quick and easy (and fun!)-
Snapchat doesn't require much thought. The interface is simple and the posts aren't fancy. You just snap and post it to your story (or send it to certain friends.) Nothing is edited or scheduled. That's about as simple as it gets in the land of the internet. Plus, it's just plain fun! The filters are hilarious and the ability to draw on snaps never fails to entertain me. You can be so creative with it!
