I'm Alive!

I am indeed alive, just incredibly busy with school crap. In fact, I'm so busy I shouldn't even be writing this post. Alas, I felt I needed to as I haven't done anything blog-like since last last Sunday. It's sad.
To tide you over until I'm done with all the rest of the work I have to do this week, here's a picture of me [looking really depressed for some reason] from before Thanksgiving break:

dress: xhileration; target
top: thrifted
necklace: forever 21
shoes: ross dress for less

I didn't really even like this outfit, so this is the only picture I took.

Anyway, I have to go write 20 pages of a TV script and study for a test. This is after I was up until 5:30am writing a French film paper last....morning? I can't wait to catch up on all my blog reading when I'm done with this stuff!

Happy Wednesday!

This is not fashion; this is band

Yesterday was UGA's senior day which marked the last time we seniors would perform in Sanford Stadium as Redcoat Band members. It's pretty strange to know that 8 years of marching is coming to an end. I've been marching since I was 13-years-old.

Oh band. It's a love/hate relationship, but mostly love.
I will go into detail with pictures from Saturday's game:
Love: that I met my boyfriend through marching band.
Love: the funny people I've met along the way.

Hate: waking up before the sun rises and practicing on game days

Love: my senior flower which I feel like should have been included as part of our uniform for every game because they're so pretty.
Hate: hats that never fit quite right with [more often than not] plumes that have lost half of their feathers.

Love: being on a gigantic screen. (The side of my head is on the very left for our senior tribute.)

Hate: the fact that these uniforms make you hot when it's warm outside but don't keep you warm when it's cold.
Love: that when you wear it you can walk right into the stadium and out on the field
Love: that people know I'm in the band and shout "go dawgs!" at me or tell me how much they love the band.

Hate: sitting through 4-hour-long football games after being awake before 7AM. [Sometimes I start falling asleep. Don't tell anyone.]
Love: winning and how happy everyone is when we do. [We're the SEC East champions now!]
Love: the trips we get to take [like Florida] and the fun party times we have while we're there.

Love: getting to perform on the field in Sanford with a huge amount of people watching us.
Love: that the football players and fans believe we influence the game because, of course, we're the team's biggest fans.

Hate: having to drive out to the practice field during the week. I'm either tired and don't want to practice or I don't want to deal with the stupid drivers of Athens.
Love: that I get to play with so many talented musicians. Probably my favorite thing is actually the music aspect and I'm really going to miss playing with a group like this.

There's so much more to it. How can I really break down why I love marching? I just do. Very few people [compared to the whole student body of UGA] have the opportunity to do what we do. The band shares a unique college experience. It's nice being part of this group and I'm sure I'll miss it come fall next year. Luckily I have 2 or 3 more games before the season is over so I don't have to mourn yet!

Happy Sunday everyone! I'm off to feast for my dad's birthday.

A Year Ago: November 17th

Ah the days before I had a blog. These are from exactly a year ago, but it's almost as if these pictures are brand new because they haven't been shared here yet!

dress: california concepts; thrifted
jacket: ralph lauren; thrifted
tights: l'eggs; mall?
shoes: forever 21
belt: found on the ground
headband: forever 21

I used this as my facebook profile picture for a while.

I call this my church lady dress because of the epic 90's church lady nature of it. I like it best with a jacket of some sort. Maybe because of the sleeves? I'm not quite sure because they don't really look that bad to me and I've worn it without a jacket too. I'm going to have to wear this dress again sometime soon.

Today is my dad's birthday. He's da bomb so I wish we could've celebrated his 50th on the actual day. Jeanie and I couldn't go home to visit because we have so much band to do until Saturday night. We're having an epic feast for his birthday on Sunday though, so we'll make up for it then. I'm definitely ready to go home and spend time with my family. Only a couple more days until then!

Happy Thursday! And happy birthday to Dad!

In 25 Minutes

Surprisingly (or maybe not so much) I got showered, dressed, and ready in 25 minutes the day I wore this. I overslept. Oh well!

top: forever 21
skirt: forever 21
cardigan: so...; kohls
tights: kmart
shoes: xhileration; target
headband: forever 21
necklace: forever 21 gift

I had to have a red jacket for a pop of color, right? This one was thrifted as part of a suit. The red high-waisted pants that came with it are back at home.

People in one of my classes kept commenting on my polka dot tights. I think they're pretty fantastic as well and they look nice with the striped top. This outfit had to be something I knew would match as I had no time for trial and error. Sometimes I like a black and white color scheme though.

I had to go way up to north campus today to get some class schedule stuff worked out and I couldn't resist using my Starbucks gift card when it was right across the street. I got a caramel apple spice and boy was it delicious. It tasted like apple pie. (Which I plan on eating a piece of in a week + a day.)

Now storms are rolling through Georgia so I plan on staying inside until I have to leave to do some trumpet-ing at the basketball game. Such an exciting day, right? Hooray me! And happy Wednesday!

Fall Sailor

I don't want my summer dresses to go to waste when it's not even that cold here yet! My sailor dress is too cute not to wear, so I added tights and a cardigan and it's ready for fall.

Oh hey there. Is that a camera remote in your hand? Why yes, it is.

Check out my cool earrings. I like them.

Staring at feets. They're so interesting.
dress: forever 21
cardigan: kirra; pacsun
tights: target kids' section
shoes: xhileration; target
earrings: thrifted
bracelet: vintage from great aunt

I have a hard time getting the bow on this dress to look right. Oh well. Also, I'm so excited to have navy tights this year. They're not easy to find in stores - that is, until I looked in the kids' section! And they're extra cheap too. There's one good aspect about being so very short. Hooray!

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I had a lot of band stuff. Now I'm tired.
But Happy Monday!

Perfect Plaid Skirt

I'm never afraid to go with a school girl type look. To me, it's classic. Plus it's perfect for fall. I enjoy a good plaid skirt. I'm pretty sure the one I wore here was somebody's uniform skirt at one point.

I spotted this skirt at my favorite super cheap thrift store and bought it for a dollar. It fits absolutely perfectly too. I didn't need the length taken up or anything. Hooray for great thrift finds!

I tried to mix this up a little bit by pairing my striped top with the plaid skirt. I liked the mix of stripe patterns.

skirt: tracy evans; thrifted
top: forever 21
cardigan: forever 21
shoes: keds
headband: forever 21

I made a coffee cake this morning. It was delicious. I really like having time to make something tasty for breakfast. Usually that only happens on Sundays when I'm at school. I really wanted to make pumpkin scones, but I don't have all the ingredients. So sad. Maybe during finals week.

It's weird that the end of the semester is coming so fast. I have so much to do before then too. I can't really think about anything except Thanksgiving break, though. That week off will be much appreciated. Only one more week of class until then! [I should probably get some school work done next week then, I guess.]

Happy Sunday!

Primary Colors

I don't think you can go wrong pairing primary colors together. They always look so bright and happy!

dress: forever 21
sunglasses: kohls
tights: forever 21
shoes: xhileration; target
necklace: great grandma collection
bow: forever 21

I'm really liking having another yellow piece in my wardrobe. It's not the most flattering color on me, but I like it in small doses (especially during the fall)!

I'm trying to think up tons of new ways to wear this dress because I like it so much. Navy + polka dots + a fun collar is pretty much the best combination for a dress. I'm sure you'll see it remixed a bunch within the next few months.

Only a little while until Thanksgiving break. I'm trying to get through school until then. I have a ton of crap due after that week off though. So maybe I shouldn't be so eager for it to get here! Oh well. I'm excited for all the good food and spending time with my family.

A Go-To Type Outfit

This is the sort of outfit I wear when I don't know what to wear.

I like it, though. I enjoy styling band t-shirts. I also really love these new leopard print tights Jeanie bought me.

shorts: levi's; thrifted
tights: forever 21
shoes: xhileration; target
t-shirt: american apparel
cardigan: forever 21

I forgot to announce my Shabby Apple giveaway winner yesterday. Oops. I random number generated and the winner is Imogen from Tia Cherie. Congratulations!
(Edit: I completely screwed up and didn't clarify that it was a US only giveaway so I had to redraw. I'd like to apologize profusely to Imogen. The US winner is Jessica from Waking, Believing, Running. Again, I'm ridiculously sorry. I feel like a poop head.)

I'm watching Prophets of Doom on the history channel right now. They're talking about robots taking over the world when artificial brains get more intelligent than us. It's scary. The future scares me. Why do I watch these shows?
Happy Tuesday! Woo!

November 5, 2011

I wore this outfit a little while ago. I thought I looked very much like a leaf with all the orange and brown colors mixed together.

blazer: so...; kohls
shorts: forever 21
top: delia*s
scarf: lila boutique
tights: forever 21
shoes: forever 21
headband: 3rd grade

Well I plan on going to bed quite early tonight. I'm exhausted from another Saturday football game day. I also plan on not setting an alarm and sleeping until I'm good and ready to get out of bed. I'm sure that'll be much more pleasant than waking up at 7am like I did today. I get an extra hour because of daylight saving time too. Hooray!

Also, there's only about 25 more hours to enter my giveaway so you better get on that!

Happy Saturday!

Hats and Sweaters and Tights! Oh My!

I'm so glad it's actually cool outside so I can wear cozy things like this sweater. I picked it up at the thrift store for a dollar and it still had tags on. Hooray for unworn thrift store clothes!

I also put this hat back on my head today. Hats make me happy.
This outfit was kind of inspired by Sarah at The Stylish Heart. Except probably not as cool. I always enjoy her comfy-looking sweaters and all the cool trousers she owns. Plus she always has a hat on her head! And hats are awesome.

This is my disgruntled face. I'm not that disgruntled today. Only about leggings as pants.
sweater: westbound; thrifted
shorts: cignal; thrifted
tights: forever 21
shoes: xhileration; target
hat: h&m

Don't forget to enter the Shabby Apple giveaway before it ends on Sunday night. I would enter it if I wasn't hosting it! So do it! You know you want to.

I had a small rant about the leggings as pants issue today. There were so many awful instances of this today. Seriously. I do not want to see your butt, underwear, or camel toe. Cover that up. Wear some jeans. When did jeans become so difficult to put on or so uncomfortable? I will never understand. I'm not saying they need to be particularly stylish or anything, but jeans and a t-shirt isn't that much work nor is it uncomfortable. Ugh. It will only get worse as the temperature goes down.

Anyway, Happy Thursday!

November 2, 2011

Hey! You there! Don't forget to enter my giveaway. Seriously. Only 5 people have as of now and that's just sad. But that means good odds for you!
This is my 80th post. That's pretty crazy to me.

dress: forever 21
sweater: ann taylor loft; thrifted
shoes: xhileration; target
hat: h&m
belt: old
earrings: old

I like my new beret.

I look like a pompous face. I'm not really a pompous face.

I tried to dress this dress up for cooler weather by layering a sweater over it. You lose the cool detailing of the back, but atleast I'm getting more wears out of the dress.

Anyway, happy Wednesday!
