Look at these amazing trousers. I think they were somehow made for me as they needed absolutely no tailoring. The length is even perfect. So obviously they were originally for a little old lady or something. They were only a dollar too! They'd been sitting in my closet for a while and I decided it was time to try them in public.

I'm showing you my cool headband. It reminds me of a phoenix.

Well, it's Tuesday. I'm already sleepy. I've been kind of bored and restless lately, but also not wanting to do anything. As blasphemous as this sounds coming out my my mouth (me being a person who dislikes hot weather), I've been having thoughts of summer. I'm convinced I'm just wanting school to be done. Yes, already. I must have senioritis. I'm stuck in between the feelings of being so sick of school and also being scared to graduate. Woe is the life of a college senior.

Well, happy Tuesday! If you're bored feel free to check out my twitter and my random quips on there!

Getting Rained On

I've had quite the boring day. I don't really know why I even got dressed.... I just read for class, drank a couple cups of tea, Matt came over for about an hour, ate some leftover chili, and read blogs. I actually got out of the apartment yesterday though, which was awesome. I went to the Terrapin brewery and toured/drank. It was fun.

Now here's some pictures from a week-ish ago when I was getting rained on but really liked my outfit.

dress: romwe.com
cardigan; shoes: forever 21
tights: kmart
pin: old?
bow: handmade from a play I was in

I wish I'd have gotten a good picture of my pin, but I'll get one next time I wear it. It's a hummingbird so it's pretty cool.

Anyway, happy weekend!

"I Was Meant For The Stage"

Hooray for it being Friday! Not hooray for having nothing to do.

dress: forever 21
beret: h&m
loafers: merona; target
cardigan: so...; kohls
necklace: gift

It's a dream catcher!

I saw people doing this pose. It looked cool. But then I learned that it hurts a lot.

How do you like my new loafers? They weren't even $8 on clearance! I'm so excited about them.

I guess I'm going to have a relaxing Friday. I'm just waiting on the chili I threw together to be done, listening to The Decemberists & Elvis Costello (that's a weird mix), and doing some blogging. Such an exciting day!

Happy Friday!

The Red Velvet Skirt

I'm determined to get as much use out of this skirt as possible! It's hard to make it look really casual, but I'll try. If I fail, I don't mind looking fancy.

This time I paired a t-shirt and Mom's lace cardigan with the red velvet skirt. I really liked the leopard print tights with it too. And how about the vintage-y shoes? I picked them up at Goodwill a while back. They're navy blue suede so I couldn't resist.

cardigan: Mom's
skirt: romwe.com
shirt: delia*s? or kohls
tights, headband: forever 21
shoes: goodwill

Another jumping picture!

^I was making a face at Jeanie. I feel like my face is usually making goofy expressions like this.^

I need to get started on all the crap I have due on Friday. Why is it so hard to do things before the day before they're due? I don't know, but I have a headache and don't want to do this stuff. Ugh. Also, I've been thinking it's a day later than it is all week. It felt like Wednesday yesterday, but it clearly was not. I have a feeling I'll be disappointed tomorrow and feeling like it's Friday even though it isn't. So sad.

Happy Wednesday that feels like a Thursday!

A Thrown Together Favorite

Is it just me or are some of your favorite outfits ones you just throw together in the morning? I had no idea what to wear this day other than that I wanted to wear my plaid shirt. I was wearing just the shirt until the very last minute when I knew I really needed a butt covering if I was to go out in public. Somehow it all came together and this is definitely one of my favorites lately.

sweater, shirt: target
shorts: forever 21
shoes: old navy
hat: h&m
belt: old from Mom
coat: delia*s

I wish I had worn something as awesome as this today, but I wasn't feeling anything other than jeans. My jeans were soaked through three classes in a row. It's been raining for days and I'm really ready for it to stop. Rainy Mondays are one of the worst things. Especially during winter.

I'm going to drink some coffee and thaw out!

Happy Monday!

Feeling Like A Valentine...Already

I've been feeling in the Valentine's day spirit lately even though it's weeks away. I think it'd be a unique idea to wear a blue dress that day instead of the usual red and pink. (Although I love that combo and usually keep with tradition on Valentine's Day.)

Blue + Pink Valentine

Betsey johnson tights, $25
Topshop shoes, £55
TopShop shoulder bag, $50
Prep School Pocket Cardigan from Ruche

I'm So Business-y

When I walked into class wearing this some guy was like "damn girl, you're looking fancy" or something to that extent. It was a week ago so I cannot give you an exact quote. Apparently I didn't look like I rolled out of bed and, without a brush, placed my hair atop of my head while wearing leggings as pants.
But I did look kind of business-y with the blazer I suppose. Oh well!

skirt, tights, earrings: forever 21
boots: bongo; kmart
top: thrifted

I'm liking my newly thrifted top. It looks more light purple in real life than in these pictures.

^Awkward arms. Awkward face lighting. This is me.^

I'm so glad it's finally the weekend. I have things to do, but I think I'll also have time to be leisurely and that's always good in my book. Plus the new season of An Idiot Abroad starts tomorrow. I'm pumped.

Happy Friday everyone!

About This SOPA & PIPA Stuff

If you're reading this, you're probably a blogger (or enjoy blogs) and if you're a blogger I'm sure you appreciate that you have the freedom to do such a thing. Being able to get your voice out there so easily is a great freedom. We're very lucky to have the liberty to speak our minds and to have the internet to be able to facilitate that.

If you haven't heard about SOPA and PIPA, you should. Because they're going to affect you if they're passed.

The Stop Online Piracy Act and Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act sound good enough if you only listen to their name, however the implications of passing these will be much broader. These poorly written acts are too broad and use too much ambiguous language which means boundaries aren't clear. Not to mention they are devoid of any technical understanding of of the internet. They don't understand the linking & sharing nature of this global network. Sure we want to protect copyright, but at what cost?

Here's a few facts about these brother acts:

1. They will destroy the current structure of the internet - These bills give the government the ability to tell companies and websites like Google to take down links to certain sites that are deemed in violation of copyright laws. A website would have to cut all ties to that supposedly offending site and get rid of any reference to the site. Not only that, but they can't link to anything on that domain name ever again. This means that even if the site is 99% legal content, the links are severed.

2. They will censor the web - There is already copyright protection on the internet. Currently under DMCA an infringing site is sent a take-down notice after a take-down request form is properly filled out. However these take-down forms are often overused already and end up sending take down notices to people who's content is within the realm of fair use. Under SOPA a site is guilty until proven innocent. There’s no process to take down specific content on a domain, just censorship of the whole domain. There's no due process under the new system. Accusations alone could shut down a site, leaving the website owner with the burden of proving their innocence in order to be taken off the blacklist.

3. They will hinder innovation -  People will be too scared to create new sites because it’s expensive to police all content. If you have a site where users can post their own content, you become liable for everything they post. Who wants to be liable for others? Nobody. There goes the site. As an article from techdirt.com said, "In a post-SOPA world, the people behind YouTube look at the numbers and talk to their lawyers and wonder why they should assume so much more liability and extra costs. BLAM. There goes YouTube. BLAM. There goes Kickstarter. BLAM. There goes a bunch of other internet companies that used to provide the tools we needed to create, distribute, promote and monetize content.”

4. They will be expensive and detrimental to the economySOPA shifts liability to the internet companies and service providers. This means they have to be constantly policing their content which means paying people to do so. New sites won’t be able to get their feet off the ground because it will be so expensive to hire lawyers, have people to patrol the website for offenses, and develop censorship utilities. The legislation involving these bills is expensive too. “The Congressional Budget office has estimated that PIPA alone would cost taxpayers at least $47 million over 5 years.” (source

In my opinion: Introducing American censorship into the internet is not worth keeping the pockets of big entertainment companies full. They need to innovate and change to make the most of the internet model. If they can't do that then they deserve to go under. Other companies that cater to today's consumer will survive. And that's the way capitalism works. Let's not make legislation that allows them to rest on their laurels and not innovate while destroying the current, wonderful internet we have. Thank you.

Bonnie Hat

I've really been in a hat mood lately hence me finally wearing my Bonnie-esque beret today!
I was given the stink eye a few times though. Wonder why.

I'm not moping. I'm trying to show you my hat bow. It's pretty cool.

Those are my finger guns.

beret: Romwe.com
top, skirt, belt: thrifted
tights, shoes, necklace: forever 21
jacket: so...; kohls?

I really enjoyed this outfit. The tights look a lot more subtle inside my apartment. When I stepped outside the green was so bright! There's kind of a lot going on in this look, but I think it works. I always like playing with classic-type outfits by mixing prints, colors, and textures. There's so many cheap wool pencil skirts at the thrift store. They're a good staple to have, so why not make the best of them?

Happy Tuesday!

A Colorful Post

Happy Sunday! We took these a few days back. Jeanie got pulled into taking pictures with me because she was over to get her clarinet out of my car. I've been putting off posting for a couple days because I keep telling myself I'm going to get my grad school applications done instead. Obviously I'm not doing that right now, so it's time for a new post!

skirt;belt: forever 21
top: thrifted

Hair beard pose.

I thought my outfit was kind of crazy when I put it on, but I still really liked it. I think the prints work really nicely together and blue and yellow always contrast well.

Okay, now I have to work on writing a statement of interest. I don't think I can express how much I don't want to do that right now.
Have a happy rest of the day!

Laughter, Mixed Prints, & a Beret

I quite enjoyed this outfit. Jeanie and I had fun taking pictures for this post (and the one with her green sweater), as you'll be able to tell! The mix of prints was really cool in my book and the beret made everything 134x better. It was a good mix of modern and classic.

This is my delighted king pose.

skirt;earrings: thrifted
t-shirt: forever 21
cardigan: so...;kohls
tights: kmart
shoes: xhileration; target
belt: from mom
hat: h&m

And to close this post I'll leave you with a goofy picture of my mid-falling to the ground with laughter. I forgot what was so funny, but we were outside guffawing. It was wonderful.

I hope everyone had a nice Wednesday. I checked off a lot of things on my to-do list, including this post! Therefore I'm going to melt some chocolate and dip strawberries into it. Maybe I'll have some tea too. I live an exciting life!

Happy Wednesday!

Back to School, Back to School...

Why is winter break over? I'm not ready for school at all.

I always sort-of forget how much my clothes stand out at school. Then I get back here after a break and notice. Luckily I don't care. Especially since it's my last semester. It's pretty weird that this is my last semester of undergrad. I feel old.

As for my outfit, I tried to keep it kind of simple and wear some flat shoes so I could walk around. However, my idea of simple is still pretty fancy here! I like mixing blue and red, so I enjoyed this outfit. Also, my shorts are incredibly wrinkly. I guess that lets you know that I really wore this? ha

I look tired. My 8:30am wake up is early.

shorts, shoes, bow, belt: forever 21
top: thrifted
tights: kmart
cardigan: pacsun

I accidentally left my day planner at home, so I'm feeling kind of lost today. I like to write down every deadline and plan out all the crap I have to get done. If I don't do that I forget things. Or I worry that I'm forgetting things [which is almost even worse]. Until I get mine back I've been writing lists. They're not as organized.

Anyway! Happy Monday!

A Jeanie Comfy Outfit

I liked Jeanie's comfy casual outfit from yesterday. We looked like quite the contrast in outfits, but you'll get to see mine at a later date!
I'm trying out a new, larger photo size to go along with my new layout too. What do you think? Should I stick with this or go back?
sweater: thrifted
jeans: forever 21
shoes: target
hat: kohls

The hat was a Christmas present and the shoes were a gift from me. They came from the slipper section, but who can tell?

You can't go wrong with a jumping picture!

P.S.: I finally entered the 2010's and got a Twitter. So feel free to follow me if you feel inclined to do so.
