Gold Sparkly Loafers Debut

I'm not sure why, but I have a giant grin on my face in pretty much all of these pictures. Actually, it's probably because I was wearing my awesome new gold sparkly loafers. I just bought them yesterday, but they needed to be worn asap. For their debut I decided they should be paired with my favorite leopard print top and my trusty navy blue shorts.

Check out my sunglasses earrings. Jeanie bought them for me last Christmas. I'm also wearing my gold Urban Decay eyeliner. I may have gone a little overboard with the gold things today.

Hey look it's my face! Actually I was attempting to show my hair bow and side ponytail, but you can look at my sparkly shoe happiness too.

I'm kind of mourning the summer already because I have to go back to Athens within the next couple weeks. I have grad school orientation really soon. I'm not ready! But that's partly because I haven't been orientated, so maybe I'll feel better when I get some graduate school facts told at me. We'll see!

Happy Monday!

Lace Blouse + New Layout

Hello everyone! I hope you're all having a nice weekend so far. I pretty much just worked on a new layout for this blog for the past two days. I'm pretty happy about it. I've been feeling really clean looks, so this definitely works.

I wore this outfit the other day when I went to take some pictures for a friend. I'm not a professional photographer so I worry when people want me to take pictures for them. His thought was that they'd be better than his because I have a nice camera. Not really sure that's what makes the pictures good, but I agreed. I'm scared to look at them in case they turned out horrible... I'll share if they're decent though!

Happy Saturday!
P.S.: Check out my "follow" links on the right and be my friend on things! Because I'm super cool and all.

I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning

I took these pictures yesterday in the morning light since I was actually awake. I like how they turned out, but I'm usually not up so early to take advantage of the less-harsh lighting. I was running on only a couple hours of sleep because I stayed up too late reading The Great Gatsby (which I am ashamed to say, I hadn't read before). Matt, of course, woke me up early to go run and I almost died because I'm eternally out of shape.

So here's another outfit of me styling a band t-shirt. This time it's my Bright Eyes one.

I saw the new Batman movie last night and it was awesome! Have you guys seen it? I want to see it again.

Happy Wednesday!

Jazz in Millennium Park

Oops. I forgot to post last Friday. I had the idea that I'd have a ton of time to post and tons of things to post about over the summer. However, I've either been too busy or so boring I have no content. Oh well! I'm sure I'll be getting dressed much more often once I start grad school.

These pictures are from last Thursday in Chicago. We went to see a free jazz band concert at Millennium Park with some extended family. I always enjoy seeing free concerts there. We saw The Decemberists backed by a full orchestra there a few years back and it was amazing.
This concert was wonderfully not super crowded and the music was great. It made me want to pick up my trumpet! Unfortunately I didn't bring one to Illinois with me! And I also never really played jazz music. So there's that.

This picture is one of my new favorites.

Another one of those pictures where I'm creeping on you:

Best friends, family style. With our cousin Elizabeth and with Jeanie, of course.
I <3 them both.

Anyway, I'm glad to be back home in Georgia. I plan on relaxing my last couple weeks of summer. Let's hope that plan works out! Happy Monday!

Backyard Illinois Shenanigans

How is it Wednesday already? Our summer Illinois trip has flown by. I've managed to eat at two restaurants featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives in the past two days. I've also had ice cream three times during this trip already. All the delicious food has been great, but I'm kind of ready to have vegetables back in my diet again. There's only so many days I can eat fried things.

Here's a few pictures we took in our grandparents' back yard. We were entertaining ourselves. I'll just include some nice outfit-picture ones though! Please excuse the wind-blown hair. We were jumping around taking jumpy pictures so it got kind of messy.

And...here's a jumpy picture!

We're going downtown to Chicago tomorrow to meet up with some of my mom's extended family. It should be filled with good times. I can't believe this trip is almost over though. I'll be starting grad school soon enough... Where has summer gone?

Happy Wednesday!

Scenes From The Weekend

I feel like I'm slacking a bit here posting so late on a Monday, but I've been busy visiting and doing family stuff. Also I should really call this post "Food & Dogs". Those are the most fun things about a weekend though, right? Maybe not, but here we go.

We spent the weekend preparing for and going to my aunt's birthday party. There was a ton of good food and beverages and I spent a lot of time hanging with Jeanie and our cousins (but only the good ones). I felt like we just kept stuffing our faces with food, but I guess that's how family parties are. This next picture is my tiny dessert plate because I was already ridiculously full. I ate mini cheesecakes and a homemade pizzelle. Yum.

Salted caramel beverage in a tiny glass. And yes, that's alcoholic caramel whipped cream on top:

Red Dress, Zebra Print, & Shaking My Head at Uptalkers

I've been having a fine ol' time in the Land of Lincoln! We just make our rounds to the relatives/friends and visit. It's more exciting than sitting on the couch! Plus I have a reason to get dressed in real clothes each day since I actually have to leave the house and see people. If I know I'm not going anywhere at all and I'm at home I'll put on comfy pajama clothes for the whole day. It's a shameful secret, but it's not really a secret. Also, I'm not really ashamed. Being lazy in the summer is kind of my thing? (Yes, read that with an upward inflection. Speaking of upward inflections: Uptalkers. Those people who say everything like it's a question. Just imagine me shaking my head right now because that's what I'm doing.)

These are my clothes:

dress: modcloth.com

Hello! I'm smiling right at you in this picture! Creepilyish.

Happy Friday everyone!

A Jeanie Outfit: Elephant Shirt

Jeanie got this elephant print shirt at Forever 21 a little bit ago. It's quite a fun print! I had these pictures on reserve to share with you on a day like today when we've only worn comfy traveling clothes.

This is a typical Jeanie pose:

I'm pretty much ready to fall asleep already. I think I'll go do that. Happy Wednesday!

Sailing Away

This is pretty much a perfect summer dress. It's white, linen, and has a loose shape so it's not sticking to me when it's fifty billion degrees. Plus it's a sailor dress and it doesn't get better than that! I wore it to my family reunion last summer and I'm still enjoying it.

dress: forever 21
hat: h&m
shoes: xhileration - target
bracelet: great grandma collection

I'll be going up to Illinois for some family visiting time this week. I'm mentally preparing myself for the 12-hour car ride. Luckily we usually get Mexican food from this delicious hole-in-the-wall place right when we get there so I'm looking forward to that. I just can't believe we're this far into the summer already. I'm not ready to start grad school yet! I need more quality time with the couch and Netflix. I know, I have a rough life.

Happy Monday!

Night in the Ruts

I'm wearing my galaxy skirt again! Whenever I feel like pretending I'm cool I put on my old band t-shirts. This galaxy print skirt is pretty cool too so I figured it was time I combined their coolness.

skirt: romwe.com
t-shirt: vintage from Dad
shoes: bongo - kmart
belt: old from Mom
sunglasses: walmart
bracelet: premier designs
hair bow: forever 21

My nails are painted with colors from the new China Glaze Summer Neons collection. I've been loving them lately because they're so bright and happy!

Like my Aerosmith Night in the Ruts shirt? The back of it is my favorite.

I think Matt was kind of confused about the asymmetrical hem on this skirt. I like it because it's different and it also feels like I'm wearing a cape - sort of. This silhouette works for short girls like me. I get to have a longer skirt but it still shows my legs so I don't look dwarfed.

Have a nice weekend everyone!
