Pleated Polka Dot Skirt, Red Blouse, & Silver Sandals

Woo it's Friday! Happy labor day weekend!

I wore this outfit to class last week. It's good I just posted about matching separates and their versatility because I'm showcasing that here! This skirt is the bottom part of my matching polka dot separates. I just decided to go with a red blouse I thrifted this time. So much versatility. (Now I need to wear just the polka dot top with something!)

Are you guys doing anything fun this labor day weekend? I have Monday off of class so I'm pretty pumped about that. I have some school work to get caught up on, but I think I may work on redesigning the blog a little bit too. I know. It sounds like an exciting weekend.

Happy Friday!

ASOS Petite Collection Fall Wishlist

I'm always happy to see clothes dedicated to those of us on the shorter end of the spectrum. ASOS has a whole petite section for people 5'3" and under! One of these days I'll try out a pair of their jeans because I'm always interested in jeans that are cut for a short frame. But I basically want everything. There aren't enough stores that cater to short patrons, which is strange because so many of us are nowhere near model height.

Anyway, here are my favorites from ASOS' petite line right now. (For you above-short people, quite a few of these are available in regular sizes too.)
Those red jeans are on sale for under $20. They're tempting me....

There are too many cute things. If only I wasn't so broke!

(p.s. This is not a sponsored post. I've just been really loving the ASOS petite line lately!)

Double Navy & Red Clog Sandals

Happy Wednesday everyone! Here's a relatively simple outfit I wore to class the other day. For some reason I really wanted to wear a navy blue top with my blue shorts. Double navy! I tried my sail boat top at first and something about the two shades of blue just wasn't working, so out came my striped t-shirt. This was a very comfy outfit. I think these red shoes kind of make the outfit though. Plus they're a little big around the ankle so there was no rubbing on my scratched-up ankles! Hooray comfort.

Thank you to Matt for taking my pictures this day. He's learning well!

I hope you guys are having a good week. Mine has been busy and I'm very sleepy. I keep getting very little sleep due to all the work I can't catch up on. Maybe this weekend I can catch up. I doubt it though.

Have a great middle of your week!

Tuesday Tunes: Jets to Brazil - You're The One I Want

This was one of my all-time favorite songs during the last couple years of high school. It's still wonderfully good. I'm sure everyone has those songs that bring you back to a specific time. This one is all junior and senior year of high school. Jets to Brazil is one of the first indie bands I started listening to after my cousins burned a bunch of CDs for me. We were up in Illinois for Christmas. We drove around, went to the one music store that actually sold some lesser-known stuff, and blasted the tunes around town. The winter of 05-06 really sticks in my mind as a musical awakening. My music taste was forever changed - or broadened, I should say. Thus began my never-ending search for new/interesting/talented/entertaining bands.

I'll never get enough of this song.

A Jeanie Outfit: Western Style Shirt & Cutoff Shorts

Good thing I had this Jeanie outfit all edited because I'm super behind on my school work tonight! Jeanie wore this over the summer. I really like her western-style button-down shirt and how perfectly it matches her sandals. I actually wish I had a pair of those sandals because Jeanie said they're comfy and I also love the snake skin pattern on them.

Sorry for the short post, but I have a ton of stuff to do before class. Have a nice Monday! I'm just hoping I get some sleep.

Trend Time: Matching Separates

You guys know I'm all over this matching separates trend. I freaked out (in a good way) when I found my polka dot separates over the summer. There's something really great about a trend that can be remixed so many different ways. It's a top, bottom, and a set. Maybe that's why it appeals to me so much. It also might be the fact that I wore matching separates as a kid back in the 90s. Nostalgia plus practicality!

Here are a few cute ones I found whilst browsing many internet shops. I brought them together just for you! I've also seen quite a few winter-appropriate ones. Like ones made entirely out of sweater material. So there's that.

one: Romwe | two: Choies | three: Choies | four: Boohoo (top) (bottom) | five: Boohoo (top) (bottom) | six: Persunmall | seven: Oasap | eight: Shabby Apple (top) (bottom)

I have a feeling we'll be seeing these coordinating sets more and more over the next year or so. (Boohoo even has a whole section dedicated to them if you're interested.) Once they're not "in" anymore I can just wear the pieces separately! Versatility for the win.

What do you think? Are you guys on board with matching separates?

Floral Pants with Studded Loafers and a Blue Cardigan

Pants two outfit posts in a row? And in August? What is this world coming to?!
I don't know what was going on in my mind other than the fact that it was cool enough to wear pants so that's exactly what I'll do. Now it's ridiculously hot and muggy outside, but that's Georgia for you.

I figured I hadn't worn these pants since our strangely cool spring break, so it was time to style them again. This time I went with a blue-ish cardigan and my new black bow top. It's a really similar outfit to the last time I wore these floral pants on the blog, but oh well. They look cute with black shirts and studded loafers! Who am I to ruin a good thing?

floral pants: h&m | bow top: forever 21 | cardigan: target | shoes: x-appeal - rack room shoes | teapot necklace: forever 21 | belt: mom's

I'm hovering! Not really. Jumping shoes are just so much cooler than regular shoes.
The sad thing is these things tore up the back of my ankles that day. Why do so many of my shoes do that? It's a tragedy. I need some of those squishy things you can get for the back of shoes. I swear I've seen products like that in the store. There aren't enough band-aids in the world to protect my ankles from all my ankle shredding shoes.

Are you guys doing anything fun this weekend? I'm not sure what I'm doing, but it probably should be school work. My mind strongly resists school work on the weekend but it must be done.

Happy Friday!

A Sailor Top with High Waisted Skinny Levi's

Happy Wednesday everyone! I wore this outfit last week when we had a very strange cool snap. It was actually cool enough outside to wear jeans so I was very excited to be able to wear my new Levi's. Here I am wearing my sailor top again too. I'm really interested in finding more ways to make jeans look non-boring once the weather cools down. Sometimes it's nice to mix it up and wear pants once in a while! Though I'm really looking forward to breaking out my tights! Can you tell I'm ready for fall already?

I did some purple-y sunset-ish eye shadow that day too. Hooray for colorful eye shadow!

I feel like outfits that are skinny on the bottom with more volume on top (like this) really emphasize my sort of boyish figure, but oh well. I won't let my lack of hips dictate what types of outfits I try out. I work with what I have. I'm just happy I have some boobs going on so I'm not completely stick straight!

I hope your week is going well!

Tuesday Tunes: Braid - The New Nathan Detroits

Ah Braid. What a wonderful band. They'd moved on to other projects by the time I discovered them in high school, but they've reunited! My ears need to have an audio feast on their new tunes as soon as possible.

Jessica from Midwest Muse just posted that she'd seen them live and I freaked out at the awesomeness of that. She also reminded me I hadn't listened to Braid for entirely too long!

I found this live video of Braid performing the song in 1999 so I thought that'd be a pretty cool one to show you!

A story about this song: My cousins, Jeanie, and I were driving around listening to this song and - at the part of the song about 11 seconds in to this video - heard the words "potato chip if I had a chance". We all turned to each other and were like, "what?" He actually isn't talking about potato chips. It's "but to tell you the truth if I had a chance" but I'll forever hear "potato chip".   Now wasn't that a good story?

Happy Tuesday!

Tie Dye with Polka Dots

I've gotten so much use out of this polka dotted kids' skirt. I've only had it a few months, but it seems to go with so many different tops! It also helps that it was really inexpensive. I think it was something around $7 on clearance? Good times. This time I paired it with a clearance tie-dye shirt I got from Target a while back. I've worn this shirt more often this year than the year I bought it! I've just really been liking my sleeveless tops like this lately.

Sorry I look kind of weirdly tired in these pictures. They were taken after a long day of class and making dinner and life.

The writing on my hand is room numbers. Who has time to look for a piece of paper or remember what room to look for? Not this girl.

I hope you have a good start to your week. I just hope I survive class today. Though that's always what I hope for.

Happy Monday!

My Sprout Host Hunt Audition

I entered a contest to be the next host on a live TV program for preschoolers and today I'm sharing the audition video with you! Working on kids' TV is my dream job so I really really would love to win.

For the audition we had to talk about a theme for the week and sing the Sprout birthday song. Now I realize that this is probably the first time you've heard me talk and I'm talking to you in a super animated version of my normal voice, but that's a-okay! It's okay if you laugh. My dancing skills are pretty fantastic after all.

The YouTube views don't officially count, but I'm sure it can't hurt if people watch the video, like it, and give positive comments

(I had filmed and submitted this video in HD but for whatever reason they downgraded the quality, so I apologize.)

Thank you for watching! You guys are awesome. Have a great Saturday!

A Kids' Bow Dress, Pink Sandals, and Cat Eye Sunglasses

This is the kind of outfit you're most likely to see me sporting around campus this time of year. Especially when I don't have time to think about an elaborately put-together outfit! You really can't go wrong with a comfy dress and flats. This dress is the one I recently found in the kids' section at Target (for $17). You can see Jeanie's deer print version in this post. I really love the cute little bow print on this one. It'll go with all kinds of different tights when the weather cools down too. I'm pretty pumped about it!

dress: cherokee - target | sandals: ross dress for less? | bracelet: gift | sunglasses: dollar tree | earrings: forever 21

Here's a nice picture where Matt made me look like a giant! Pretty glorious isn't it?

Oh and did I mention this dress has a cute little cutout in the back. Breezy, yet covers the bra zone!

I've already started to wish it was fall and broke out a pumpkin beer last week. In August. Oops. But oh was it deliciously fall-ish. I'm looking forward to lots more coffee, various soups, and all things pumpkin and apple flavored.

I hope you guys have a great Friday/weekend!

P.S.: (I'll officially post the video here tomorrow, but if you get a chance please pop over to YouTube and see my audition video to be a children's television host on Sprout TV. The more views the better! And thumbs ups/positive comments are always good to see. This is my dream job! Thank you!!)
