Floral Trousers, White Sailor Top, Black Converse, & a Jean Jacket

Happy Monday everyone! This is the outfit I wore to my comprehensive exams two Fridays ago. Matt snapped these pictures for me outside of Cine (a local movie theatre) after we watched a film at the Eco Film Festival that was going on. We had a really fun weekend after I took my exams.

I was originally wearing some really cute tan loafers this day, but they tore up my feet walking out to campus. Once I got back to the apartment I had to find some comfy shoes to walk all the way downtown. The only ones I had out in Athens that weren't sandals were my trusty old Converse. And when I say "old" I mean it. They're from junior year of high school. Mom bought them for me to wear in my Jojo costume when I was in Seussical the Musical. They may look ratty but they're incredibly comfortable after this many years of use! Putting them on was like magic after the damage done to the back of my ankles from those other shoes. Magic comfort.

P.S. Don't you guys love the Athens bulldog I posed with? They're all over town!

I hope you guys have a great week ahead of you. I'll just be working and hopefully getting some research done between that! I tried to catch up on some of your blogs over the weekend and it really made me wish I had more time to put into this blog. Soon I'll be able to introduce some new features though! Any suggestions on things you'd like to see?

Have a wonderful Monday!

Periwinkle Blue Cardigan & Shoes with a White Polka Dot Dress

Happy Friday everyone! It's time for another very spring appropriate outfit. I wore this on Matt's birthday (and then I wore it with a different cardigan to work the next day). I really enjoy how perfectly my cardigan and new wedges match so it was only appropriate to wear them together in at least one outfit post. It's such a pretty shade of blue for spring too! These shoes are yet another new pair, but I bought them a couple months back when it was too cold to wear them. I'm sure I'll be getting plenty of use out of them over the next few months though.

You guys. My hair looks so good in these pictures compared to right now. I have the often enviable problem of very fast-growing hair. It's grown out a bunch since my last trim about three weeks ago. Too many hairs! Luckily Mom's giving me a hair cut today. Since cutting my hair off in mid-February I've already had it trimmed up twice if you count today. Good thing my mom is a hairdresser!

How do you feel about matchy outfits? I know I do plenty of print and color mixing, but I also enjoy some delightfully match-tastic looks too. I love that both matching and non-matching are in style right now. I'm looking forward to breaking out my matching polka dot separates again this summer!

I hope you guys have a great weekend!

February Favorites

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's time for another favorite outfits of the month post. It's already late in March, but here are my favorites from February. Lots of cute outfits and inspiration, as usual. I love sharing this mix of looks with you guys each month. Be sure to visit their blogs! Enjoy!

A Jeanie Outfit: Teal Chevron Dress, Gold Skinny Belt, & Studded Black Heels

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you're having a nice day so far. It's time for another Jeanie outfit here on the blog! This is what she wore to our uncle's wedding. This teal chevron print dress is great because it can be dressed up or down. She wore some super cool studded heels and added a gold belt to make it fancier. Plus she wore one of our mom's bow pins as a hair pin - something I've been doing lately with my own pins/brooches/whatever-you-prefer-to-call-thems. It's a creative idea to get more use out of those pins you may have laying around!

sorry I'm not sure of the outfit details this time!

The fancy outfits and snowy backgrounds are over for now!

Did you guys have a good weekend? I survived taking my comprehensive exams and spent the rest of the weekend walking around Athens with Matt. We saw Muppets Most Wanted (which was awesome) and took in a free eco-film at Cine downtown. Cine is great because it's affordable and they have a full bar so you can drink beer in the movie. We also ended up walking by an Argentinean restaurant and decided to try it. They had delicious empanadas. Saturday we hung around at the botanical gardens and I took a bunch of pretty spring pictures. Last weekend was probably the most time I've been outside and seen the sun in months due to my work schedule. It felt great! Today I'm back to the daily grind though!

Have a great week!

Mock Turtleneck Sweater, Houndstooth Pencil Skirt, Polka Dot Tights, & a Blue Peacoat

Happy Saturday night everyone! I know I usually post outfits during the week, but I've been absent much of the past couple weeks so here is an outfit I wore in Illinois over spring break. It'll probably be one of the last cold weather outfits you see here for a while. I was wearing no jacket and no tights out at the botanical garden this afternoon. (Don't be too jealous. It'll probably be 90+ degrees and 100% humidity soon.) I enjoyed this combination of houndstooth and polka dots that I wore on my coffee/thrifting date with Marlen from Messages on a Napkin. I've actually worn a really similar outfit in a previous post. The snowy background in these pictures really is a great finishing touch on the season though! That bunch of snow we got up in Illinois was so pretty even though they were all so sick of snow.

As I'm sure you've surmised, I finished up my comprehensive exams yesterday. I don't know whether I actually passed or not  (and it'll be embarrassing if I don't), but they're behind me for now! This weekend has been really fun since I finished them. It's like a weight of stress was lifted off of me just having taken them. There's still plenty more to do this semester before I graduate, but at least that's done (I hope)!

Have a great rest of your weekend everyone! I'm looking forward to catching up on your blogs!

Kelly Green 60s Sweater, Colorful Vintage Floral Skirt, Tan Tassel Loafers, & a Big Blue Hair Bow

Happy Wednesday everyone! Here's another outfit featuring the color green for you. I guess I'm on a green kick lately! I wore this outfit a couple weeks back on a pretty lazy day. The temperature here has been up and down so bare legs were just fine that day. I hadn't worn my 60's vintage sweater this winter yet, so I figured I better get on that since it just keeps getting warmer here. This skirt will be getting more wear in the upcoming months too. It's one of my favorite thrift finds because the colors in the pattern are so pretty.

There's so much color in this outfit. I love it! You guys know I'm not afraid of color. At least the shoes were a neutral! They're new. I keep acquiring more and more shoes with nowhere to put them. It's a problem. Also how about this giant hair bow? I'm feeling it. And now I'm just rambling. I'll stop so you can look at the pictures.

Well guys, this may be the last you see of me this week. If it's not you better yell at me. I needed a break after work so I wrote up this post, but I really should be studying for my comprehensive exams. That's what I'll be doing the rest of the week or so help me. Hopefully this post and my backless green halter dress post will tide you over until this weekend!

Have a great/satisfactory week!

Green Backless Halter Dress with Silver Heels to Attend a St. Patrick's Themed Wedding

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Here's what I wore to my uncle's slightly St. Patrick's Day themed wedding on Saturday. Most of the girls decided to wear green so I broke out this dark green halter dress from deep within my closet. It was my homecoming dress from junior year of high school. I'd really wanted a Marilyn Monroe style dress in green that year so Mom made this one for me. I'm happy it still fits! The only issue while wearing this dress is making sure I don't have a wardrobe malfunction. There's plenty of tape holding the fabric perfectly in place just in case!

dress: handmade by Mom | hair comb: sally's | heels: christian siriano - payless

I made sure to style the dress differently than back in high school. I went with silver pumps and a silver hair comb. I also had a dark purple cardigan in case I got cold but there aren't any pictures of that! This whole outfit just goes to show you should dig around in your closet for formal events. Not every one needs a new dress! If you still fit in it and it's a classic piece you can make it work.

I hope you guys are having a good Monday so far. This week is looking super busy for me. Grad school is the bane of my existence. I have about a billion things to do and comprehensive exams on Friday. I'm not at all prepared for them. There isn't enough time in the day. I honestly just need everyone to leave me alone for the week so I can study, but that's not going to happen. This year just needs to be over.

If I'm absent this week and at various points in the upcoming month, just know it's because of school. I'll be back and consistent again when I get out of there. I'm desperately trying to find time to do my school work on top of my internship so blogging in between isn't easy. But anyway. Have a good week!

Meeting Marlen from Messages on a Napkin

Happy Thursday everyone! Sorry I don't have a Things I Love Thursday post today, but my schedule is all screwed up from spring break and having way too much to do. Luckily there was time to meet up with Marlen from Messages on a Napkin today while I'm up in Illinois for a wedding! We had a small world moment when we realized my grandma lives very close to her and I just happened to be staying with my grandma this week.

Marlen, my sister Jeanie, and I met up at Starbucks for a delightful chat including topics like, "why does everyone on Facebook have a baby?," "Atlanta Snowpocalypse 2014 #1 & #2," & "let's stop aging after 21." Then we headed over to my favorite thrift store around town to find some treasures. I didn't find anything, but I figure that's because I found a ton of great stuff during my last two visits.

Here are a few pictures Jeanie took of us after thrifting so you know this actually happened:

Marlen is super funny and sweet. (She also wore an awesome outfit.) It's good to know another blogger around my age in real life. That's right, blog land just became real life. It's weird when that happens, right? If you're not reading her blog, you should be! I'm glad we finally got to meet up!

Have a great rest of your day!

80s Geometric Print Shirt, Black A-line Skirt, Bright Blue Tights, & Studded Loafers

Here's a little bit of a crazy outfit for you. At least it's crazy in the color scheme and print. Mostly it's this silk 80s shirt I thrifted a long while back. I hadn't worn it yet this season so it needed to make an appearance. I decided to pair it with my black a-line skirt with the mesh cutout detail and a pair of new insanely blue tights. These tights were in Walmart clearance for $2.50 so they obviously needed to come home with me. They're such a cool, bright color! They were screaming to be paired with this obnoxiously printed shirt (that I love completely un-ironically).

I hope you guys are having a great Monday. I'm supposed to be on spring break right now but I'll be at work today. Yay. Also studying. But I'll be heading up north for a wedding soon so there's something to look forward to! Have a super fantastic start to your week!

Maroon Cat Print Shirt, Little Black Dress, Herringbone Tights, & Ankle Boots

Happy Friday everyone! Here's an outfit I wore last weekend that I really enjoyed. Basically every time I layer a shirt underneath this dress I'm happy. I don't know why I never tried layering my cat print shirt underneath it until now! The lace in the top works with the lace detailing on the dress. Plus cat shirts are pretty awesome in general.

These tights are becoming a new favorite. I just really like how they're both fishnet-ish and herringbone. They were a Christmas present so I'm not 100% sure where they're from, but it's probably Kmart. If you haven't checked out Kmart for tights, you should. Some of my comfiest, softest tights are from there.

I hope you guys have a great weekend. I'll be studying today and perhaps taking some breaks to read a few blogs. I should probably only study though... We'll see. P.S. I'm sorry this post is going up so late today. Usually I schedule at least the night before. Unfortunately I was extremely exhausted Thursday night and proceeded to only nap on the couch after work and then go straight to bed. I live a life of excitement!

Have a great weekend!

Also check out the Passion For Fashion linkup over at Rachel the Hat! It's been a little while since I linked up there and now I'm fixing that!
