Outfit: Khaki Green Jeans, Floral Blouse, and Brown Wedge Sandals

Happy Monday everyone! I know some of you aren't particularly interested in more casual outfits like this, but I just got these green jeans and wanted to share them with you. I try really hard to style jeans in a non-boring way so I hope this doesn't bore you too much.

I love these new khaki green jeans though. I can't get enough of olive green shades lately so when these jeans fit so well they needed to become part of my wardrobe. I enjoy the zipper pocket detail and the seam down the back. For their first day out I paired them with a floral hand-me-down top and some brown wedge sandals. It was a great summer to fall transitional outfit. This outfit would be perfect for a warm spring day too though!

So what do you think about my new jeans? They should be really versatile. How would you style them for cooler weather? I keep thinking about wearing them with a flannel shirt and boots. And now I remember that I have red jeans to wear this fall too! Hooray for colorful jeans.

Did you have a good weekend? We went out and visited my sister in Athens and I also got to see an old friend while she was in town. I'll actually be in Illinois for the next couple weekends so maybe I'll get a taste of proper fall weather! I'm looking forward to it.

Anyway, I hope you have a great start to your week!

Remix: Brown Corduroy Shorts

I've had these brown high-waisted corduroy shorts since 2011 and have gotten tons of use out of them! You'd be amazed at how many different ways you can style shorts that have a heavy, cold weather material. They seem like a piece that should have no real place in a wardrobe, but they're actually perfect for fall in the south. The corduroy makes them cool weather appropriate but I can also wear them on the hot fall days we get down here!

These shorts are super comfortable and seem to be my go-to shorts for fall. I think they look equally cute with or without tights. I also have a pair of black corduroy shorts with a looser shape that I wear pretty often, but they look a lot better with tights than without.

The moral of this story is, don't write off pieces that seem like a weird mix of seasons. These shorts make me look like I'm in the fall season even if it's 85 degrees outside! Check out the ways I've styled these shorts on the blog and click the links underneath to see the full posts.

Outfit: Leopard Skater Skirt, Blue Graphic T-shirt, & Pink Converse High-Tops

It's probably clear by now that I can and will pair leopard print with nearly everything. I hadn't thought to wear my The Good Life t-shirt with leopard print yet, so here it is! This look gives me a high school vibe. I would wear graphic t-shirts and Converse a lot back then. This pair of high-tops is actually a pair from high school that I didn't wear that often which is why they're in such great condition! There are quite a few pairs of old Converse and Vans in my closet. I figured I should try to wear some of them more often since I've kept holding onto them. This pink pair matched the octopus on my shirt so wearing them together was meant to be.

top: the good life concert | skirt: forever 21 | shoes: converse | bow: euberah

What do you think about sneakers with dresses and skirts? I've been seeing people wear all kinds of outfits with various gym shoes. I like it! I think the pink Converse made this outfit feel kind of young. Now that I think about it, I've been wearing Keds with all sorts of outfits the past couple of years too. Now my Converse can have their moment to shine. Some of my other pairs are pretty ratty though. They don't see the light much unless I need to wear something that can get dirty!

How did your week go? I actually went out a few times this week! On Wednesday Matt took me on a date to Dave and Buster's which was super fun. We played a ton of games but gravitated toward the classic type like ski-ball and the basketball ones. There was a round of a Jurassic Park game and a Terminator one too. We kind of sucked at the shooting ones because we kept shooting our own guys. Oops? I'm now sore from playing the basketball game. I guess my arms aren't used to such vigorous activity anymore. Just another reason I need to start working out...

Then yesterday we headed up to Ellijay, Georgia which is in the north Georgia mountains. They have a ton of apple orchards but we didn't get to pick our own apples. We bought a bunch though! I'll try to show you a few pictures soon!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Outfit: Blue Striped Blouse, Black Linen Shorts, & Silver Sandals

Happy Wednesday everyone! Here's yet another super summery outfit straight from hot and humid Georgia. This striped blouse is a relatively new sale purchase from Modcloth. It's one of those pieces that I thought would look good with a ton of things. Unfortunately it only ended up pairing with most of my clothes in theory. I think part of the problem is that I own a lot of items with prints and not enough solids. That's my own fault though, not the fault of this shirt. For its debut I sucked it up and ironed my black linen shorts. Of course you can't tell I ironed them because I wore them for a couple hours before taking these pictures. Stupid wrinkly linen.

top: modcloth | shorts: ralph lauren - thrifted from goodwill | sandals: shoe carnival

I apologize for the lack of pictures. Most of this set turned out overexposed because of the partly cloudy crap that was going on outside. Also I rushed through them because it was starting to sprinkle. Many bloggers would just not post the pictures but I found a few that looked fine. I like sharing more casual outfits with you too, so I didn't want to cut these. I'm not always fancy! You should probably know that by now.

I've actually had a pretty good week so far despite being internet busy. "Internet busy" is how I would describe my life right now. I define it as having a ton of things to do on the internet. Feel free to use it in everyday life. You're welcome.

Have a great rest of your day!

Outfit: Acid Wash Skinny Jeans, Polka Dot Top, Blue Cardigan, & a Black Boater Hat

Happy Monday everyone! It's a new week, summer is officially over, and here I am pretending it feels like fall. I just really wanted to wear jeans! This outfit was comfortable enough for a few minutes out in the heat though. My upper stomach could feel the fresh air so I guess that was my air conditioning.

Do you guys like my new hat? I ordered it during a Nasty Gal sale. I figured it's black so I can get away with wearing it in the cooler months but it's straw so it'll be fine to wear in the heat too! Win win! I really love wearing hats but I forget to wear them. I have a decent amount of them too. It's a shame to let them sit there unworn so I've been trying to plan outfits around them.

I feel like I always talk about the weekend on here, but oh well. There's not a whole lot going on in my life right now! I had a good weekend spent mostly with Matt. We went to a Delta Spirit concert on Friday. It was fantastic. Saturday I went shoe shopping with my mom then watched football (which I don't particularly care about but it's just what you do down here.) Sunday afternoon was spent sitting on the back porch with Matt talking about everything. How about you? Did you do anything interesting over the weekend?

Have a fantastic start to your week!

Outfit: Polka Dot Matching Set with Floral Wedges and a Straw Hat

You don't have to be a genius to figure out it's still super summery here in Georgia. I'm definitely looking forward to being able to wear more layers, but I tried hard to embrace the heat by wearing this outfit. I realized I hadn't featured my polka dot matching set without a cardigan yet, so I here it is! This is one of my absolute favorite purchases from Forever 21. It's so breezy and comfortable in this humid weather. This time I wore my cute straw hat with it and a pair of floral wedges I don't wear often enough.

matching set: forever 21 | shoes: ross dress for less | necklace: avon - great grandma collection | hat: h&m

So have you guys had a good week so far? The weekend is around the corner! Though weekends generally aren't much different than weekdays for me. I spend a lot of time researching every single day. (Places that may have jobs, jobs that are posted, how to make my applications better, improving the freelance work I'm doing, articles to share to maintain my social presence, and on and on and on.) I've been thinking maybe I need to actually take breaks from the computer, but I'm never caught up on everything I want to do.

I keep wondering how long it's going to take for me to get my crap together and be a real adult. I want to get a job, contribute, and move away from Georgia. I could rant about the state of the job market and how frustrated I am with the "advice" I keep getting, but I'll spare you that since this is an outfit post. These posts aren't supposed to bring you down! Just look at my pretty outfit!

Have a great Friday!

August Favorites

Happy Wednesday everyone. It's that time again! I can't believe we're already half way through September but here are a few of my favorite outfits from last month. These looks span from very summery to what I would call fall outfits. Everyone looks super cute, as usual! I hope you get some inspiration and visit their blogs. Have a fantastic rest of your day!

Outfit: Green Floral Fit & Flare Dress with Nude Heels

Happy Monday everyone! I actually wore this outfit three weeks ago and am just now getting around to posting it. I bought this Jack by BB Dakota dress from Modcloth during one of their summer sales for a ridiculously cheap price. You don't see enough pretty green dresses and I love how green looks on me so I snagged it up! Plus look at how pretty this print is and the interesting cutout at the neckline. It'd be a great dress to wear to a spring wedding but I think I could easily style it casually.

For its debut I wore it to a local production of Mary Poppins. It was very hot outside so it was a day to not layer (which is about 70% of Georgia days in a year). I just paired my grad school graduation heels with it and a couple family rings I had in a drawer.

dress: jack by bb dakota - modcloth | shoes: xappeal - rack room shoes | rings: hand me downs

My new dress fits almost perfectly but there's a little "wonkiness" around the cutout. When I have problems with dresses they usually involve my boobs / short torso. I think the fabric might lay better if there wasn't as much boobage going on, but I'm not going to complain about that! It's good enough.

Contrary to what I thought, I actually had a pretty busy weekend! I went to a music school fundraising event with big band music on Friday and celebrated an old friend's birthday on Saturday. The birthday celebration was pretty awesome. We ate real Korean BBQ with the stove in front of us and then went to karaoke where the birthday boy and I were the only ones actually singing. There was a rendition of "The Humpty Dance" along with songs from Grease and many Disney movies. It was a pretty solid evening of much needed fun!

What about you guys? Did you do anything fun this weekend? I feel like I ask you that every week but I'm always interested to hear if anything exciting happened for you!

Have a fantastic Monday!

\\ Why does a southern drawl sound uneducated to some? (I'm guilty of judging based on this sometimes. In case you were wondering, no I do not have a southern accent. People down here ask me where I'm from even though I've been in Georgia since I was 10.)

Dragon Con Outfit: Star Trek Print Matching Separates and Blue Wedges

This is my last Dragon Con related post this year, I promise! I wore this Star Trek print matching set the first day so I was able to take proper pictures of it at home before leaving. It was, of course, handmade by my mom because she's a wizard. She found this fabric and decided I needed a matching set. Who can argue with that? Matching separates are basically my favorite things lately. I'm sure you'll be seeing me style these pieces separately too!

So what do you think? I love this set! The top is different from other shirts I own. The cutout in the front is really neat and I love the back of it too.  Unfortunately I have to wear those sticky bra things with it because a normal bra shows through the cutout. The one I have is pretty comfy though so I was comfortable wearing this outfit all day. Plenty of people positively commented on my "dress" at Dragon Con too. Hooray for having a one-of-a-kind outfit!

Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? I wish I was doing something interesting but I'll probably just be writing cover letters and searching for jobs. I had a dream Matt and I found a place to live in Chicago and were playing with a puppy, so now my dream brain is thinking about these things. There's no escape! Chances are I'll be hanging in the suburbs of Atlanta for a while longer though. Ugh.

Anyway, I hope you guys have a good Friday and relaxing weekend!

Things I Love Thursday

I've been doing quite a bit of window shopping lately. Maybe it's the upcoming fall season, but I can't stop looking at new things. I definitely don't need anything else but new stuff is fun. I really need to get out and go thrifting at some point. First I have to get rid of some things! I might show you guys some things on Instagram soon and gauge whether anybody is interested in some of the nicer things I don't wear.

Anyway, here are a few things I liked on the internet recently!

These wooden hand crafted book necklaces by Lucie Ellen are perfect for any book lover.

This olive green jacket from Forever 21 looked so comfy and light (plus I love this color) so I used a gift card on it. Maybe I'll be able to wear it in a couple months.

This green plaid 60s dress from Vintage Salvation needs a loving home because it's adorable.

These wide-legged sailor pants from Modcloth are so cute.

This vintage 50s dress from NodtoMod Vintage does Halloween colors in the best way possible.

Have a happy Thursday!
