Christmas Outfit: Green Lace Dress with Gray Leopard Print Heels

Holiday Outfit: Dark Green Lace Fit and Flare Dress, Gray Tights, and Gray Mary Jane Heels

Happy holidays to you!! I've been a little absent due to traveling and Christmas shenanigans but I'm finally back to show you what I wore on Christmas 2015. You really can't go wrong with a nice green dress for the holidays so I was very happy when I opened this lace number on Christmas morning. My mom and sister know my style so well! Apparently they got a deal on it at H&M. I enjoy the sheer lace detailing and the neckline. Plus this dark green color contrasts perfectly with my hair.

I made the dress even more holiday appropriate with some jeweled back seam tights that I wore during the holidays last year and a pair of sparkly bow earrings. These dark gray leopard print heels are a new addition to my shoe collection. They were only $10 on clearance. Shoe win! I figured they'd add a fun subtle touch of pattern mixing to this look.

So what did you wear for the holidays? I'll be checking out your looks soon but you can tell me all about it too.

I'm glad to be back home to relax a little bit before heading back to work next week. I'm back from Illinois already and spending some more time with family at my parents' house. Riker is here too so it's making my time a little less relaxing than I hoped though! Life with a stubborn, high-energy puppy is trying. I'm sure some of you can relate.

Anyway! Be on the lookout for my 2015 roundup of favorite outfits soon. Maybe a top 20? We'll see! Have a great Tuesday and a fantastic rest of your week!

Outfit: Tacky Green Penguin Sweater, Black Leather Jacket, and a Denim Button Down Skirt

I apologize for the crappy hallway shots but I couldn't resist quickly taking pictures of this outfit before it was dark outside. This sweater is another one I found in the kids' section at Target. It's super comfy and just the right size. I think the penguins are super cute and I always enjoy shades of green paired with my red hair.

For my penguin sweater's debut, I added a new button down skirt from ASOS - which is really quite a sturdy denim - and a new pair of wedge ankle boots. I didn't need another pair of black ankle boots but for some reason I couldn't resist these. They turned out to be incredibly comfortable too, which is always a great surprise because you never really know when a pair of shoes will be super comfy until you've bought them.

I wore this outfit to work on a day when we did some company volunteer work. People kept commenting on my festive sweater and bright red hair. I guess I never realize that I stand out until I'm out in public meeting new people. What can I say? I like bright colors!

Anyway, can you believe Christmas is this week? I'm looking forward to a break from work and hanging out with family. Do you have any fun plans? Tell me all about them and have a fantastic start to your week!

Outfit: Red Plaid Shirt Dress with a Brown Leather Jacket, Blue Tights, & Leopard Flats

Wearing a Red Plaid Dress with Leopard Print Flats, a Faux leather Jacket, and Blue Tights

I have quite a few pieces of clothing I've held onto for years because they're relatively classic - and I still like them. This dress is one of those pieces. It must be at least seven years old now but I still enjoy the red plaid and shirt dress style. It's comfortable and versatile. You probably have clothes like this too!

Recently I wore my red plaid dress on a weekend walk down the Atlanta BeltLine with Matt and Riker. I added a pair of blue tights and some leopard print flats for a touch of pattern mixing. It was slightly too warm for my brown leather jacket at the time but I wore it anyway. I liked how the warm brown looked with the red dress.

I hope you enjoy these pictures with Riker because he was not having it. He just wanted to run around and eat sticks. He's very much a puppy and a troublemaker.

So do you have any fun plans for the weekend? I have a tiny bit of shopping to do for a Secret Santa but that's about it. I'm looking forward to relaxing after getting back from our Vegas trip earlier this week. You'll see pictures soon!

Have a fantastic weekend!

The Fringe Off: Styling a Christmas Jumper

Tacky sheep Fleece Navidad Christmas Sweater with Plaid Green Pants

Today I present you with the first style challenge of the new blogger collaboration group, The Fringe Off: styling a Christmas sweater. By the name of the group and the use of "jumper" instead of "sweater," you can tell I'm the American outlier in this group! The bloggers who started it are from the U.K. and also have great "bangs" as we call them here in the U.S.

We wanted to show you a few ways to style these delightful seasonal items just in time for National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day on December 18. I actually didn't have a Christmas-specific sweater when we got the challenge but I promptly made sure I hunted one down. I had a wonderfully horrible thrifted one for a funny family Christmas card a couple years back but it has since been re-donated. Luckily Target had their "ugly" Christmas sweaters on sale a week or so ago. I tried out some in the regular women's section but decided to check out the kid sweaters since they tend to fit a lot better lengthwise, which means they can be worn without being tucked in. I found two. You'll see the other one here very soon.

For the debut of my "Fleece Navidad" sweater, (What can I say? I like word play) I paired it with a new pair of plaid Old Navy pixie pants I got on clearance. I enjoyed the mix of red and green while still adding blue and yellow to dilute the Christmas color scheme. I even wore this to work so I don't think it was all that tacky. Plus the whole outfit was incredibly comfortable.

Don't forget to check out the other ways The Fringe Off group styled their Christmas sweaters by clicking on their pictures at the end of this post. You might be inspired to break out that tacky sweater again now that you only have a week until holiday festivities begin! Happy Thursday!

November Favorites

It's mid-December and it's time to get our last dose of fall fashion inspiration before winter officially hits! It's still relatively warm here in Georgia so these outfits are still very wearable for me. Here are my favorite blogger outfits from November. I hope you're inspired by at least one of these fantastic looks. Be sure to check out their blogs too. You won't be disappointed!

Both A Fashion Nerd and Someone Like You are rocking white in 60s-inspired ensembles.

Melodic, Thrifty and Chic is styling plaid with tons of bold colors while Styling Dutchman pairs her plaid skirt with light fall layers in neutral colors.

Both The Soubrette Brunette and Flipsville look gorgeous in retro silhouettes.

Jag Lever and Sweets and Hearts wore red plaid dresses with perfection.

I'm envious of Larkspur Vintage and A Clothes Horse's pretty patterned dresses and fall layers.

Southern California Belle shows us how to look wonderfully retro in black high-waisted pants while What Olivia Did looks modern in her two-piece trouser set and red heels.

Midwest Muse and Bad Taste Toast style bold colors with pretty floral dresses.

Have a fantastic start to your week!

Outfit: Houndstooth Shorts, Glitter Back Seam Tights, and a Bow Print Shirt

Houndstooth Shorts, Glitter Back Seam Tights, Leather Jacket, Bow Print Shirt, and Studded Loafers

There's just something about houndstooth that really appeals to me. Maybe it's the versatile black and white print or that it looks so perfect paired with red, which is one of my favorite colors to wear. Either way, I keep collecting houndstooth pieces! I bought these houndstooth shorts a year or so ago. I remember trying on a pair but not finding my size in store so I ordered what I assumed would be my size online and they were perfect. Isn't it great when that happens?

I'd been missing wearing shorts with tights this season, so here I am again in a shorts and tights outfit. I paired the shorts with my glittery faux back seam tights, a comfy graphic tee with a striped red bow on it, studded black loafers, and my trusty leather jacket. There's a lot of red, white, and black going on here - a favorite color combination of mine in winter even though it's not quite winter yet.

So did you all have a good week? Mine went by quickly and was pretty productive from a work standpoint although I still need to pack for our trip to Las Vegas this weekend! Time to plan my outfits and figure out a minimal amount of makeup to take. Pre-vacation struggles. I can't be the only one who takes a thousand years planning what to pack before actually packing, right?

Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Happy Saturday!

Outfit: Fall-Colored Chevron Dress, Dark Green Tights, and a Red Short Sleeved Cardigan

Autumnal Outfit: Red Short Sleeved Cardigan, Chevron Multicolored Modcloth Dress, Dark Green Tights, and Brown Oxford Heels
dress: modcloth | cardigan: ann taylor - thrifted | tights, shoes: forever 21

You most certainly can wear red and green without looking like Christmas threw up on you! The trick is using shades of red and green that aren't pure bright versions and instead using muted shades or jewel tones. Mixing in other colors helps too. My dress here includes red and green, but also gold, maroon, tan, and cream which draws away from the traditionally Christmas-tastic color pairing.

Because of the many colors in this dress it goes with a ton of different tights and cardigan combinations too. It's one of my favorites in the fall because the colors match the trees. This time I styled it with a pair of very dark green tights, a short sleeved red cardigan I thrifted a couple years ago, and some brown high heeled oxfords that turned out to be way comfier than I remembered.

I figured it was about time I showed you this super autumnal outfit before it's officially winter! What do you think? How would you style this dress?

Are you guys having a good week so far? I'm just working as usual and looking forward to a true vacation to Las Vegas starting this weekend! I'm pretty pumped about it and am ready for real relaxation. What do your weekend plans look like?

I hope you have a fantastic start to your week! Happy Monday!

Inexpensive Drugstore Color Dupes for the Kat Von D Lolita Lip Duo

Wet n Wild Megalast Lip Color with similar shades from the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick line

Did you miss out on the Kat Von D Lolita Lip Duo? Don't feel like spending $20 for a full sized Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade Lolita, the highly coveted rosy brown shade that's so popular this year? Sad you can't get ahold of Lolita 2 yet? No worries! I found dupes of the two colors in my ridiculous Wet n Wild Megalast Lip Color collection. I was actually surprised at how similar the shades were. Who knew I already had those colors in my possession?

Left to right: Kat Von D Lolita from the Lolita Duo, Wet n Wild Mocha-licious, Kat Von D Lolita 2 from the Lolita Duo, Wet n Wild Sandstorm

They are, however, different formulas. The Kat Von D is a liquid lipstick that dries to a matte finish and the Wet n Wild Megalast formula is a regular stick lipstick in a demi-matte finish. Both are comfortable to wear, but I'm not bothered by matte finishes. The wear time is similar if you factor in eating and drinking while wearing them, but the Kat Von D doesn't transfer, meaning when I drink my coffee in the morning or kiss Matt goodbye, nothing comes off. For the Wet n Wild lipstick, a little bit does transfer. I'm cool dealing with some transfer for an $18 savings though.

If you don't particularly care about having the liquid lipstick formula and just want to try out the trendiest color of the year, head over to the drugstore and pick up color dupes for both Lolita and Lolita 2 (which isn't even available in full size yet) for $1.99 each. So for $4 you'd have a color similar to the rosy brown Lolita and another similar to the terracotta, orangier brown Lolita 2. Drugstore win!

I do really enjoy both of the formulas here though, so if you have the money to spend on a liquid lipstick, the Kat Von D formula is super comfortable. I like that I can touch it up after eating without it getting flaky and weird too. For the price, you can't beat those $2 Wet n Wild lipsticks though. I think I have 25 of them and every one is super opaque and long wearing.

Did you grab the Lolita minis set? Have you tried out either of these formulas and which one is your favorite?
