Outfit: Seafoam Cable Knit Sweater over a Flannel Top, Denim Button Down Skirt, and Blue Tights

Seafoam Green Cable Knit Sweater over a Plaid Shirt, Denim Button Down Skirt, Navy Blue Tights, and Brown Ankle Boots

Happy Leap Day to you! Now that it's nearly March I figure I better show you this layer-tastic outfit from January before you're all completely sick of cool weather looks. I'm just a bit behind in my backlog of outfits. I really enjoyed the layering and colors in this look though.

I enjoy the cable knit sweaters I own but I do find them a little bulky, especially when I want to layer a shirt underneath. Tucking in my tops ensures I'm proportioned well without having to cut length off of all my shirts, which would be pretty difficult for sweaters. So, to get to the point, I was feeling a little bulky here, but still cute so it's okay.

I layered a go-to flannel shirt under my blue-green sweater and added a cool vintage pin which I think was my Great Grandma's. This ASOS denim skirt has been getting plenty of wear lately because it's neutral and goes with pretty much everything, so I threw it on too. (Please excuse the wrinkles. I was sitting at work all day!) Finally I added some dark blue tights and comfy brown ankle boots to complete the outfit.

I hope you're all having a great extra day of the year! I looked back to see if I posted here last Leap Day and saw that it was the day I was accepted into grad school. It's hard to believe that was four years ago. I was also rocking some good layering that day so click here if you want to check it out. That was back when I tended to post outfits on the day I wore them. Memories...

Anyway, have a wonderful start to your week! See you next month.

January Favorites

Here are some of my favorite blogger looks from the first month of 2016. I spy plenty of color, layers, pretty dresses, and a few 70s vibes going on in some of the looks I chose. I hope you're able to get some inspiration from these fantastic bloggers and be sure to check out the rest of their posts too!

The Soubrette Brunette is rocking an amazing poppy print dress and gorgeous blue cardigan and A Clothes Horse perfectly styled pastels and white tights.

Southern California Belle is gorgeous in a floral dress (and her daughter has a mini matching dress!) and Melodic Thrifty & Chic wore an enviable houndstooth jacket paired with vibrant yellow.

The Styling Dutchman looks super cool in a military inspired coat and over-the-knee boots. Someone Like You styled primary colors with an awesome denim dress, bright red coat, and yellow knit hat.

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend! Happy Saturday!

Outfit: Daisy Print Skort Romper, Black Leather Jacket, and Cutout Boots

Daisy Print Skort Romper, Faux Leather Jacket, Black Tights, and Black Cutout Boot Flats

I thrifted this daisy print romper a couple years back and don't wear it nearly often enough. Everyone always thinks it's a dress because of the skort front, but then surprise - it's shorts! That definitely makes it a perfect piece for bopping around town on a windy day. I styled it for cool weather with a pair of basic black tights, my trusty faux leather jacket, and some cutout boot-flat hybrid shoes from Boohoo.

I probably could style this romper with some colorful tights or a bright cardigan next time. I'm trying to think of some new ways to wear it but sometimes it's just nice to wear it on its own with some sandals. Though that'll have to wait until the weather warms up, which should be right around the corner here in Georgia. You wouldn't know it looking outside today! It's been raining all week.

How has your week been? I can't believe Wednesday is already over. I'm always looking forward to the weekend though. I enjoy my quiet mornings with Matt and Riker, a cup of coffee, and sometimes a good book or music humming in the background. Weekday mornings are so rushed. I should probably just get up earlier but sleep is too good.

Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful week ahead! And let me know how you'd style this daisy print romper. You can give me some ideas!

Outfit: Plaid Winter Coat, Black Lace Dress, Bright Blue Tights, and White Polka Dot Boots

Blue and White Plaid Coat, Black Lace Dress, Bright Blue Tights, and White Polka Dot Chunky Boots

I wore this outfit a couple months ago and really wasn't a fan of how it ended up looking in pictures so I waited to share it. Sometimes I put on an outfit, think it looks awesome, and then look at photos later and go, "I look nuts." This was one of those times. Luckily I kind of like how crazy it looks now with the mix of polka dots and my blue plaid coat. I have the pictures so why not share it? Someone may be inspired by it!

Maybe I would like these pictures better without my coat, but it was cold out so it was included! This is the first time this coat has been on the blog but it was a new purchase for this winter. I got it on sale at Target. It has a great tie waist so I've been enjoying wearing it with some skinny jeans and flats for walks with Riker. It looks like I put effort into an outfit even when I'm being lazy.

The rest of my outfit was pretty simple. A black lace dress, some incredibly bright blue tights, and my white chunky polka dot boots from Boohoo. I got the triangle necklace from a Modcloth sale and the belt was thrifted just like most of the belts I own. What do you think? Have you ever had a change of heart when looking back at outfit you were unsure of?

I hope you're all having a great weekend so far. Matt and I have relaxed all day but have plans to go to the movies tonight and then go on a brewery tour tomorrow. The puppy has been behaving himself this week too, which is always a wonderful thing! Should be a fantastic weekend!

Happy Saturday!

Outfit: Light Blue Lace Dress with Purple Tights and Colorful Snakeskin Flats

Blue Lace Fit and Flare Dress, Cropped Black Cardigan, Purple Tights, and Colorful Snake Skin Flats

Happy Presidents Day to all my American readers. I enjoyed a nice day off today which wasn't highly relaxing but was still good. I'm happy to show you a brand new outfit post this evening. I liked this outfit so much I wore it twice already! There's something about the light blue dress with these purple tights that works so wonderfully. Add in the ridiculously busy yet awesome snakeskin flats and it's a perfect outfit. (At least I think so!)

I picked up this little light blue lace dress from a Forever 21 sale. It's sheer in the back and I'm excited to style it in the summer time too. But for now it looks great - and more work appropriate - with a black cropped cardigan. The flats keep it a little more okay for work too since it is a little bit short. My butt is covered though and that's the most important thing, right?

So how was your weekend? I spent some time with family at Terrapin Brewery on Saturday in Athens and spent the entirety of Valentine's day with Matt having a generally low-key day. We ate pizza and affogatos and watched The Walking Dead. (Which was SO good! Did you see?) All in all it has been a good weekend and I'm not ready to go back to work tomorrow.

I hope you have a good start to your week! Happy Monday!

Work Outfit: Turtleneck Sweater Dress with Red Tights and Wedge Boots

Valentine Outfit: Bodycon Mock Turtleneck Sweater Dress with Red Tights

Have you ever taken a batch of pictures and had so few turn out that you didn't even get the option of choosing the most flattering ones? Well that's what happened here. I asked Matt to snap a few pictures after work real quick before walking our usually-misbehaving puppy, Riker. Conditions were less than favorable. It was an overcast day and sunlight was fading quick. On top of that, Riker decided it was fun to jump around every time the shutter button was pressed. As you can guess, 90% of the pictures were blurry. Luckily I was able to salvage enough pictures for this post because I really enjoyed this outfit. I apologize for the not-up-to-par quality though.

Maybe you'll get some Valentine's Day weekend inspiration from this look? That's really why I wanted to salvage these pictures. (I probably could've done a better job salvaging them if the version of Photoshop I have could read the RAW files my camera produces...but that's a complaint for another time.) Anyway, this slightly Valentine's-inspired look was worn to work this week on a very chilly day. I really shouldn't have been outside without a coat taking these pictures.

This bodycon sweater dress is one of my favorites to wear to work on cold days. I'm all covered up = oh so modest, but it's also fitted = sexy times? (apparently, because last time I wore it I was cat honked at. It's a turtleneck. I just don't understand.) This time I paired my bright red tights with it and wore my comfy black wedge boots. The heart necklace is one I've had for many many years. I think it was a Christmas gift long ago. And now that I think of it, this dress was a gift from my mom! Good pick, Mom!

How has your week been so far? Mine has been relatively stressful so I'm glad the weekend is around the corner. I just need to get some sleep and a break from unruly puppy watching. Matt goes away for work once in a while and trips all hit this week so I've been on my own disciplining Riker. Is it bad that I'm ready for my puppy to be not a puppy? Because I don't really care if it's bad or not. He's sleeping next to me as I put together this post though, so he's being good right now. Puppy life is so rough, isn't it?

Anyway, have a super great end of your week and - if I don't post again before then - have a nice Valentine's Day if you celebrate. At least go eat some chocolate or heart shaped donuts. That's the best part of the day anyway!

A Jeanie Outfit: Black Romper with Leopard Print Ankle Boots

Black Romper with Sheer Long Sleeves worn with Leopard Print Chelsea Boots

It's been a long time since I've been able to show you a Jeanie outfit. I don't get to see my sister as often now that I live in Atlanta but I assure you she still wears cool clothes. We spent the holidays together so I had to snap some pictures of this ultra fantastic outfit she wore. I feel like a look like this is very versatile. So versatile it was perfect for Christmas time dinner! Though it could even be worn in the summer time.

Jeanie's leopard print boots are my new favorite and I wish I had a pair like them. I probably don't need leopard print boots but oh well. They're awesome. Her romper also is really flattering with a sheer back and sheer sleeves. I'm a fan. I think I need to convince Jeanie to let me take pictures of her outfits more often, don't you?

So did you guys have a good weekend? We did obligatory grocery shopping and dog food shopping on Saturday before relaxing the entire day yesterday along with watching the Super Bowl. I was actually able to play some video games and lounge in my pajamas all day without judgement. It was delightful. But now we're back to real life this Monday! I'm already looking forward to next weekend since I have a three day weekend and some fun pre-Valentine's Day plans out in Athens with Matt and my sister and her boyfriend. Should be a good time.

Anyway, I hope you have a great start to your week!

15 Novelty Pins I Need

I've always enjoyed sorting through vintage pins at the thrift store and wholeheartedly think it's time pins as a jewelry type make a comeback. Honestly, I've been wearing my pins - or brooches as you fancier people may say - more than my necklaces the past few months. It's pretty evident to me that pins are on their way back "in" when I see all these fun, geeky, colorful ones pop up all over the internet. Naturally, I want them all. I think it'd be good to have some quirkier pop culture pins among my pretty vintage ones don't you think?

I put together a list of some of my favorites I've come across in the past couple months. I don't own any of these yet BUT I did buy the Slurm one (Futurama represent!) and it's on its way to me as we speak. There are only a few left of those so if you're a Futurama fan you might want to check that out. The Scully pin is sold out right now too which is a shame because I'd be wearing it every Monday while these new episodes air.

Are you on board with the silly yet awesome novelty brooch trend or do you stick to the classics? Which of these is your favorite?
