Outfit: Striped Dress, Blue Plaid Coat, Knee Socks, and a White Knit Scarf

Image
The amount of stripey patterns going on in this outfit makes me happy. I didn't originally plan to wear this blue plaid coat when I put on the rest of my clothes, but the added color and pattern adds a lot to my outfit. There might be too much going on for some, but I enjoyed it! It was perfect for wandering around Piedmont Park with Matt and Riker. Although at one point it got a little warm and I had to take my scarf off. Oh well! This striped fit and flare dress is one of the comfier options in my closet. It feels like pajamas which is almost always a plus. Then I layered some herringbone fishnet tights with black knee socks - because why not? The wedge boots were a practical, yet stylish choice because they're incredibly comfortable to walk in. Finally, I wore my big blue Firmoo glasses since they hadn't seen daylight in a while. Overall, a busy, yet comfy outfit for a warm winter day. coat: target | dress: forever 21 | tights: kohls? | socks: target | wed...

Dragon Con 2015: Super Sailor Moon and Sailor Jupiter Costumes

Image
I'm so excited to finally show you our Sailor Scout costumes from Dragon Con last month. I'm a little behind posting these pictures, but now that it's October, it's almost even more perfect to share these. A fantastic thing about Dragon Con is already having costumes ready to go once Halloween rolls around!  dresses: handmade | converse: shoe carnival | wigs: amazon | gloves: amazon and then altered | sailor moon heart charm: bought at dragon con  Jeanie came to Dragon Con this year, so I knew I wanted to dress up in some sort of theme with my sister. (Mom and I did Star Trek costumes together last year - and this year too.) There is epic 90s childhood nostalgia tied to Sailor Moon and it was a costume I thought would be cute and fun. Anybody else remember watching Sailor Moon on Toonami on Cartoon Network many moons ago? Now I'm watching the reboot on Hulu and enjoying every minute of it - transformation scenes and theme song included! I even read the com...

Old Fourth Ward Fall Festival in Atlanta

Image
On Saturday Matt and I harnessed-up Riker and took a walk down the Atlanta BeltLine to the Old Fourth Ward Fall Festival. I didn't realize it was going on so incredibly close to our apartment. Talk about convenient! We were excited about a dog friendly event that involved food trucks and local craft beer.  We're still getting used to being out and about with a puppy, but Riker was very well behaved and mingled (wrestled) with the other dogs that were there. If you're not from around Atlanta, the Old Fourth Ward/Inman Park neighborhoods are very dog friendly. Nearly everyone walking around has one so there are plenty of dog friendly events to check out. The festival went on from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. but we were up early with Riker that day, so I think we were some of the first people there. That was good because we had to be back home by 3:30 for the UGA football game. There was plenty of open space to roam around with the puppy while checking out the local food tr...

Dragon Con 2015: Audrey from Little Shop of Horrors Costume

Image
If you know me, you know my favorite movie of all time is Little Shop of Horrors, the musical about a man-eating plant featuring songs written by the same duo who wrote the music in The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Dressing as Audrey has been on my costume bucket list since I was 12 and I finally did it for Dragon Con this year!  I think a lot of my putting it off was needing blonde hair or a wig and needing an Audrey 2 plant of my own. Both of those needs were finally met. I'm especially excited about having my own Audrey 2 handmade by my mom (thanks Mom!) and put in a vintage Maxwell House coffee can just like in the movie. My Audrey 2 is now proudly displayed on my book shelf. The other parts of the outfit were pretty easy to put together. This leopard print dress has been in my wardrobe for about 7 years and, though it's sleeveless, is a pretty good match for an Audrey dress. I treated myself to these fancy Nine West leopard print heels because I kne...

Outfit: Strapless Polka Dot Romper, White Sandals, Aviators, and a Summer Hat

Image
I don't know about you, but I'm pretty happy it's Friday. This is one of my weekend outfits from a couple weeks ago when Matt and I wandered around the Old Fourth Ward Arts Festival. There were tons of booths set up with original local art. We ate some spicy and delicious Indian food from a food truck and tried sweet corn ice cream (which was delightfully different). The festival was at Old Fourth Ward Park just a short walk from our apartment so it was definitely a nice location to take pictures.  This polka dot romper was a purchase from Boohoo.com last year but it needed to be taken in a little so it was hardly worn. I've shown it on the blog before with a cardigan but now that it's fixed I can wear it on its own! (Fun fail fact: I got sunburned wearing this. Too much pasty skin showing and a couple missed spots with the sunscreen.)  I may have over-accessorized this a bit but I liked it! The sunglasses are my only pair of aviators so I like to wear t...

Outfit: Fox Print Top, High Waisted Jeans, Brown Clogs, and a Leopard Print Bag

Image
Guess who has some recent pictures to show you? Matt and I took a short walk on the Atlanta BeltLine yesterday and snapped a few photos of my comfy outfit before heading to dinner. I actually wore this outfit to work because it was a casual day, but I've worn this top, jeans, and shoes together with other accessories before. It's a favorite go-to of mine that I hadn't posted here yet!  This fox print top seems to go with everything and I really think it dresses up a standard pair of jeans. The flutter sleeves are kind of fancy, right? I also enjoyed how my leopard print purse looked with the fox print. Who says I can't wear two animal prints at once? Although it probably helps that the fox print is literal foxes and not the print on a fox. (Which would be what? Red?)  Anyway, these clogs are also my favorite lately if you haven't noticed. Never did I think I'd like clogs but these ones are so not frumpy while still being comfortable. Because you guys...

Life Lately: The Color Run 2015

Image
Happy happy Monday everyone! As you may remember, I did The Color Run for the second year in a row two weekends ago. It's more like a color walk because we do it with a big group of non-runners, but it's still super fun. We like to get with our group and come up with outfit ideas so we stand out. This year we went with capes! My mom, sister, and I added colorful wigs too. They come with the added bonus of not having to wash the color powder out of our hair after the event. My mom is a very creative person and she drew and painted the cute bulldogs you'll see on the back of our capes here. They're color matched to our wigs too! "Why bulldogs?" you may ask. We just like bulldogs. I also like to think it's an homage to our deceased dog and to the Georgia Bulldogs. Because why not? The entire event was a lot of fun, as expected. They changed up the colors this year and introduced orange in place of green and sparkly silver and glitter in p...
