Outfit: Cat Print Tank Top and a Leopard Print Skater Skirt

Image
I don't wear mixed prints as much as I used to so I was pretty excited when I paired these pieces together the other day. Something about the almost geometric cat print paired with the neutral leopard print worked very well. I was also a fan of all the neutrals and bronzey goodness going on in this look. Very summery! Plus my lipstick pretty much matched the color of my sandals. (BTW it's Zebra Ultra Metallic Lip by Colourpop and is still in stock as this is being published.) It can be hard to mix up your outfits when it's hot outside so trying out different print combinations is a good way to get different looks out of your summer pieces. Plus makeup. You can always just try out a bold lip color or some ultra colorful eye shadow to change things up too. I know lighter makeup is often the thing for summer, but wearing lipstick is much lighter than wearing an extra clothing layer, after all. What do you do to change things up when it's scorching outside? ...

Outfit: Maroon Cat Print Top Layered Underneath a Sleeveless Striped Dress

Image
I'm always happy when the time of year for tights and long sleeves comes along. Layering makes getting the most out of your wardrobe so much easier. One of my favorite ways to remix my sleeveless dresses is to layer a long sleeved button down top underneath. I find this looks best when the neckline on the dress isn't too high or too low. There's a certain Goldilocks zone for this layering technique so I was very happy when this striped dress from Modcloth fit that criteria! This actually wasn't an outfit I planned for our trip up to Illinois. It turned out to be cooler than average while we were there (and it felt wonderful) but I had to mix and match what I brought to dress a little warmer. I'm a firm believer in navy blue as a neutral and maroon tends to match with almost everything, so this outfit is the result of these items laying next to one another in my suitcase. Maybe the stripes mixed with cat print is a little quirky but I liked it. What do you think? ...

Backless Cat Print Dress with Holographic Flats

Image
It's Monday already again! Here's an outfit that's absolutely perfect for muggy Georgia summers. It's kind of magical having no fabric touching your back. You should try it. Though I had to deal with a stick-on bra for this look so maybe it was less carefree than it looks. I absolutely love the back of this cat print dress despite the need for some crazy backless bra situation. Honestly I wish the front of the dress was as flattering as the back. I make it work for the cool back and fun print though.  This is the first time I wore this dress without a layer underneath. You can see how I styled it last Halloween and with a lace top underneath . This time I let the dress be worn as intended and paired my super cool holographic flats with it. dress: modcloth | shoes: forever 21 | bracelet: premier designs Did you do anything fun this weekend? I was sick again. Seriously. It's like I graduated and my immune system was like, "you don't need...

Cat Print Tank Top, Red Scuba Skater Skirt, and Houndstooth Flats

Image
Happy happy Wednesday everyone! I wore this outfit out to lunch when I was back in Athens. I'm really loving this new neoprene skater skirt. I got it with some credit I won to Sheinside via The Clothes Horse. The scuba material makes it a little different from the other skater skirts I own. I went with a classic black/white/red color scheme and paired it with my cat print shirt from Modcloth (given to me by a friend who's an ex-blogger). The houndstooth flats were a good choice since they're comfortable to walk in and they add a subtle pattern mix to the look. This is a pretty typical summer look for me. Georgia is hot and very humid. You've heard me complain about it about a billion times. Skater skirts are breezy and look really cute paired with short sleeved or sleeveless tops. Don't worry though. I'll be featuring other types of outfits on here soon.  (Also I can't express how nice it is to have my hair this short in the summer. So comfortable!) ...

Maroon Cat Print Shirt, Little Black Dress, Herringbone Tights, & Ankle Boots

Image
Happy Friday everyone! Here's an outfit I wore last weekend that I really enjoyed. Basically every time I layer a shirt underneath this dress I'm happy. I don't know why I never tried layering my cat print shirt underneath it until now! The lace in the top works with the lace detailing on the dress. Plus cat shirts are pretty awesome in general. top: forever 21 | dress: poof apparel - ross dress for less | tights: kmart ? | boots: xhileration - target | flower hair clip: forever 21 These tights are becoming a new favorite. I just really like how they're both fishnet-ish and herringbone. They were a Christmas present so I'm not 100% sure where they're from, but it's probably Kmart. If you haven't checked out Kmart for tights, you should. Some of my comfiest, softest tights are from there. I hope you guys have a great weekend. I'll be studying today and perhaps taking some breaks to read a few blogs. I should probably only study tho...

Cat Print Shirt with a Purple Velvet Skirt

Image
Happy Wednesday everyone! I wore this outfit a couple weeks back. I really liked the way these colors looked together. It's amazing how many colors pair well with maroon/burgundy shades. This time my cat print shirt was paired with my trusty purple velvet mini skirt. I've had this skirt for years now and it always ends up being styled up once the weather cools down.  top, skirt: forever 21 | tights: boohoo | shoes: xhileration - target | necklace: vintage from great grandma It really is a happy Wednesday today because I'm done with this semester! Hooray for getting a break! I'm ready for holiday times too. It should be a good next couple of weeks. I'm really looking forward to it and I hope it doesn't fly by too quickly. Have a great middle of your week!

A Wearable Halloween Outfit: Evil Cat Dress & Rust Orange Tights

Image
Happy Halloween! This outfit is actually what I'm wearing right this minute. Later I'll be in my 80s aerobics instructor costume, but for now I'm wearing a slightly Halloween-themed outfit. I can't help but be a bit literal with my holiday outfits. My Halloween outfits always have festive earrings and Halloween colors, so that's what's going on here. I wore this evil cat print dress layered over a sheer black blouse and added my rust orange tights to complete the Halloween color scheme. My earrings are little candy corns too! This outfit could easily be worn on a regular fall day though. I'd just swap out my festive earrings for another pair! dress: modcloth | blouse: nicole - thrifted | tights: forever 21 | shoes: forever 21 | earrings: claire's (gift) I hope you guys have a really fun Halloween whether you're out partying or inside watching festive movies. I plan on doing both of those things and possibly stuffing my face ...

High Waisted ASOS Petite Pants with a Cat Print Blouse

Image
Happy Wednesday everyone! ASOS kindly gave me a $20 voucher so I could review an item from their petite line . I'm always excited when shops cater to short people like me! Since it's difficult to find pants that fit correctly, I decided to try out a pair of high-waisted black twill pants . I was happy with the overall shape of the pants and how they actually narrow at the correct place on the leg. Sometimes the calf part of pants starts way too low on my leg, but not these. The inseam was great too. I can wear these either cuffed with flats or un-cuffed with heels. However, I definitely should have ordered a size down. I ordered based on their size chart (and they felt tight enough with a belt when I tried them on) but over the course of the day they stretched out quite a bit. I really feel like a smaller size would fit me better. These are made from stretch cotton, so I should have figured the stretching out would happen. I'll know to be careful of that next time! I...
