Outfit: Green Corduroy Skirt, Leopard Top, and Heart Tights

Image
If you're looking at these pictures and going, "hey those look almost a year old!" then you would be correct! For whatever reason this outfit from December never ended up on the blog (but a similar look did back in March .) My hair is almost this color again right now though! Full circle. I wanted it very similar to this color and length for my wedding in November so I'm glad. I wish it was cold enough outside to wear tights, corduroy, and my leather jacket like it was in these pictures, but instead it's humid and rainy here in Georgia since it's still August. And so it shall remain until November. I really do like this combination of the dark green skirt with leopard print and tiny, almost-dots heart print. What do you think?  These pictures were taken in Illinois while cleaning out my Great Grandma's house. My sister and I were hanging around while our dad and grandpa were picking up some stuff.  Unfortunately I don't have anythin...

Outfit: Leopard Button Down, Green Corduroy Skirt, and Chelsea Boots

Good morning (or afternoon or evening) to you! In my vacation picture editing extravaganza that happened last week, I found yet another set of pictures that would make a perfect outfit post. These pictures were taken at Windmill Bonne Chiere in the morning of our last day in Bruges, Belgium. I made seeing at least one windmill a priority on this trip since I'd missed out on them the first time I went to Bruges when I was a kid. After the tourists in the back of some of these photos left, Matt and I had the windmill all to ourselves so we could climb up on the stairs and get some fun pictures while taking in the view. (Sorry no pictures taken from up there. I wasn't about to drop and break my camera in the middle of our trip. Those stairs were steep!) This windmill is an open trestle post mill . It was built on a post so it could be turned to meet the wind and, since it's large enough to not blow over every time there's strong wind, the post wasn't buried - hen...

Outfit: Green Corduroy Skirt, Red Scarf, and Leopard Print Flats

Image
Happy New Year! Usually I have a roundup outfit post to start the new year but with busy holiday traveling that may have to wait until later. Since our trip to Europe was by far the highlight of 2016, I figured I'd show you another outfit I wore over there. This is what I wore on our first full day of exploring Prague. The pictures we took on Charles Bridge at dawn are some of my absolute favorite from the whole trip. It was amazingly crowd-free being there that early in the morning!  At this point in the trip my faux leather jacket wasn't quite cutting it with the cool weather and this day was especially windy up at the castle! Other than that I was pretty pleased with the pieces I picked to bring with and was able to remix them in a lot of different ways so I wasn't wearing the same outfit for 2.5 weeks. This look was a favorite of mine with the green button down corduroy skirt, leopard print flats from Target, and red dog print scarf. jacket: ashley by twe...

Outfit: Green Corduroy Skirt, Mock Turtleneck, and Gray Leopard Print Heels

Image
Hey! It's me again. I still exist. This is the longest I've gone without blogging since I started this blog in 2011, but I'm going to give myself an excuse since I was out of the country for more than two weeks. It's been very hard for me to find time to blog after work with my commute too and unfortunately that probably won't change for a bit longer. I'm back to share a warm weather fall outfit with you though! Before heading off to Europe, I decided to treat it like back to school wardrobe shopping and pick up a few new things that would be easily remixable. I found this dark green corduroy skirt and gray mock turtleneck top at H&M and wore them each multiple times throughout the trip. They're just good basic pieces to have in general. This is a look I put together the week before I left which included some fun accessories to spice it up - my gray leopard print heels and a Cat Scully pin by Danielle V Green .  top, skirt: h&m | shoes: so...

Outfit: Futurama Tank Top, Mustard Cardigan, Corduroy Shorts, and Red Tights

Image
I don't own nearly enough Futurama clothing or accessories for it being my absolute favorite TV show of all time. So when I saw this Planet Express tank top on Look Human, I had to have it. First of all, it's super comfy and can be worn for lounging or actual leaving-the-house activities. Second, it shrunk to the perfect size after washing. You can probably tell here that the straps were too long the first time I wore it. I'm glad I threw it through the dryer before taking them up because it's an 100% perfect fit now. For its first day out I paired it with some bright colors: my mustard yellow cardigan and a pair of bold red tights. The brights were balanced out by my black corduroy shorts and a pair of patent mary jane flats from Modcloth. Just a comfortable weekend outfit and a welcome reunion with these high-waisted shorts I hadn't worn in much too long. I love getting back in my comfy high-waisted shorts that I used to wear so often back in college...

Outfit: Brown Corduroy Shorts, Floral Top, Black Leather Jacket, and Pointed Flats

Image
There's something I look forward to styling each fall: tights and shorts. Tights and shorts are kind of a perfect combination for Georgia's extremely mild fall weather. Plus you get the added bonus of wearing fun patterns and colors on your legs while still showing off your legs. I know these are plain black tights here, but you understand.  I wanted to go for the black and brown color scheme here too. It's something I really enjoy when others pull it off. Neutrals paired together can look so nice and modern, so I paired my brown corduroy shorts with some black tights, a black floral top, and black leather jacket. The mix of texture and pattern makes it work, along with not combining too many different shades of brown in this one outfit. What do you think? Are you a fan of shorts paired with tights too? Have you worn brown and black together before? top: h&m | jacket: ashley by twenty-six international - ross | shorts: forever 21 | sunglasses: boohoo | ...

Outfit: Brown Corduroy Shorts and a Ruffle Sleeve Fox Print Top

Image
It's the fox print shirt again! When I said I can't stop wearing this shirt, it was the truth. The neutral-colored print makes it super versatile and I love the ruffled sleeve detail on it. I figured I'd break out one of my colorful beaded necklaces to play off the colors in the top's print. (I've been sorely neglecting my pile of beaded necklaces lately so I'm trying to remember to wear them!) Anyway, the rest of this outfit was a comfy combination of my brown corduroy shorts and cushy shoes. top: boohoo | shorts, necklace: forever 21 | shoes: korks - shoe carnival Sorry for the weird posting schedule last week. Everything got out of whack with traveling on Monday and my birthday on Tuesday. I'm back to posting normally today! Hooray! I have a bit of catching up to do reading your blogs too. I'm excited to work on that this week. Have a fantastic start to your week!

Remix: Brown Corduroy Shorts

Image
I've had these brown high-waisted corduroy shorts since 2011 and have gotten tons of use out of them! You'd be amazed at how many different ways you can style shorts that have a heavy, cold weather material. They seem like a piece that should have no real place in a wardrobe, but they're actually perfect for fall in the south. The corduroy makes them cool weather appropriate but I can also wear them on the hot fall days we get down here! These shorts are super comfortable and seem to be my go-to shorts for fall. I think they look equally cute with or without tights. I also have a pair of black corduroy shorts with a looser shape that I wear pretty often, but they look a lot better with tights than without. The moral of this story is, don't write off pieces that seem like a weird mix of seasons. These shorts make me look like I'm in the fall season even if it's 85 degrees outside! Check out the ways I've styled these shorts on the blog and click the link...

Colorful Plaid Shirt, Green Cardigan, Corduroy Shorts, & Burgundy Ankle Boots

Image
Happy Friday everyone! Here's an outfit I wore a couple weeks back that somehow ended up on the back burner. Or maybe I just magically created snow and grew my hair out in a week. You decide. I really love these corduroy shorts I bought from Forever 21 a couple years ago. They're so comfortable and have held up perfectly. I decided to pair them with my colorful flannel shirt and a green cardigan I thrifted over the summer. There are hardly any neutral colors going on in this outfit and I kind of love that. Navy is a neutral in my book, but not everyone's, and these shorts are kind of a bright, tawny brown shade so they can swing either way. Good times. I'm sure I'm thrilling you with my dialogue right now. So here's the outfit: cardigan: ann taylor loft - thrifted | flannel shirt: xhileration - target | shorts: forever 21 | tights: target kids' section | boots: boohoo | bow: handmade This is another bow my cousin made me. I love houndstooth a...

Decemberists T-shirt, Cozy Cardigan, Corduroy Shorts, & Neon Mint Tights

Image
This was just a cozy outfit I threw together for a lazy weekend day. I mixed all these cool shades together for some reason. I mostly just wanted to wear these neon mint-colored tights and this outfit is what manifested. I just decided these colors go together. My Decemberists t-shirt was hidden in a drawer at my apartment and hadn't been worn in a while, so here it is. It's such a great color and I love the tree graphic. I got this shirt during The Decemberists' Hazards of Love tour when they played through the entire album in order. It was glorious. They're a really fun band to see live. cardigan: target | t-shirt: american apparel - concert | shorts: forever 21 | tights: target kids' section | boots: thrifted | bow: handmade So Georgia is once again having an ice/snow event.
