Outfit: Heart Print Tights, Food Pins, Red Dress, and Loafer Heels

Image
Happy almost Valentine's Day to you! In honor of the day of "wuv" I broke out a couple of old favorites to wear: this red peter pan collar dress from Modcloth and some heart print sweater tights from Forever 21. This dress, although cute, has seen better days. Something about the fabric makes it super easy to pill up so that's happening all over the place. It's sad because it's a really cute dress and comfortable too. I'm afraid it might need to be retired soon - but not until I try some remedies to reduce the pilling. The highlight of this look is my super cool food-themed pins. I actually wore this last Friday on National Pizza Day, hence the pizza pin. Also it was Friday - hence the fries. The fries pin was lovingly bestowed upon me by a new coworker and is a very welcome addition to my increasing quirky pin collection. My other accessories are thrifted. A belt thrifted long ago that I wear practically bi-weekly and a pair of loafer heels I ...

Outfit: Blue Vintage Dress, Patterned Tights, and a Leather Jacket

Image
This is what I look like in the wind when it's way too cold to be outside taking outfit pictures on Christmas. You may notice the uncharacteristic snow in these pictures too. That's because I was up in Illinois for the holidays and, although we were supposed to get snow in Georgia a couple weeks back, my neighborhood didn't get much more than a dusting. Fine by me! But snow does make for some nice automatic light reflectors when taking pictures! This vintage cobalt blue dress is a new addition to my collection, given to me by a friend of the family. I'm always happy to accept cool vintage clothes, especially when they're already tailored for someone short. This ultra blue dress was worn for Christmas dinner and the shift shape left plenty of room for me to gorge myself on tasty foods.  For its debut, I styled it with a new faux leather jacket (since my other one was starting to get worn out after many years of trusty use) and a pair of tights with a fish...

Outfit: Lace Up Top, Skater Skirt, Patterned Tights, and Novelty Pins

Image
Happy Saturday to you! For this post-Thanksgiving weekend, here's an outfit that really represents my fall style this year before we head into Christmas-y holiday times. Something trendy, something trusty, cool tights, and novelty pins.  I found these tights from last year in a drawer (I'd forgotten they exist) and love them. They're the kind I'm scared to wear too often because I don't want them to get ruined. The top is new from H&M, the skirt is old from H&M, and my awesome novelty pins were a birthday present from my sister. Barb from Stranger Things and FBI badge Simpsons Mulder are the perfect touches for any outfit! top, skirt: h&m | tights: forever 21? | boots: target | pins: punky pins In non-outfit-related news, wedding planning is chugging along even though it's a year away. We spent Black Friday wedding dress shopping and I ended up buying the second dress I tried on - after trying a few more after it! I'm excited to...

Outfit: Striped Dress, Blue Plaid Coat, Knee Socks, and a White Knit Scarf

Image
The amount of stripey patterns going on in this outfit makes me happy. I didn't originally plan to wear this blue plaid coat when I put on the rest of my clothes, but the added color and pattern adds a lot to my outfit. There might be too much going on for some, but I enjoyed it! It was perfect for wandering around Piedmont Park with Matt and Riker. Although at one point it got a little warm and I had to take my scarf off. Oh well! This striped fit and flare dress is one of the comfier options in my closet. It feels like pajamas which is almost always a plus. Then I layered some herringbone fishnet tights with black knee socks - because why not? The wedge boots were a practical, yet stylish choice because they're incredibly comfortable to walk in. Finally, I wore my big blue Firmoo glasses since they hadn't seen daylight in a while. Overall, a busy, yet comfy outfit for a warm winter day. coat: target | dress: forever 21 | tights: kohls? | socks: target | wed...

Outfit: Rust Orange Suedette Dress with Brown Leopard Print Tights

Image
Happy Monday! I don't know why it's taken me so long to show you this outfit because I love how it turned out. This suedette dress is a pretty new Boohoo purchase from their petite line. I don't have anything else in my wardrobe in this rust orange shade so it was a necessary addition. It just about matches my hair! When I bought it I didn't realize it would lean quite so bodycon rather than shift style but that's okay. The faux suede material has a decent amount of stretch but it does cling to my tights. For the debut of this super autumnal-hued dress, I paired it with some brown leopard print tights I've had in my drawer for quite a long time and some dark brown ankle boots. The gold dangly earrings were probably from a relative at some point. I really enjoyed how this outfit came together. So much that I'd probably wear all these pieces together again! dress: boohoo petites | tights: forever 21 | boots: traffic | earrings: old Happy ML...

Outfit: Gray Wool Coat, Leopard Print Circle Scarf, Maroon Skirt, and Sheer Leopard Tights

Image
I picked up this gray wool blend coat from a Forever 21 sale over the summer because I figured I could use a new coat in a neutral color once it got cold. I had no idea what "boucle" was though. It seemed like some sort of textured wool, which was pretty correct I think. Apparently boucle is an uneven weave formed into loops. If you didn't know that, you learned something new today! Anyway, this coat has been keeping me warm this season with its detachable faux fur collar. I've been pairing it with my gray leopard print circle scarf a lot, which you can see here. For this outfit, I went with some double leopard print. These tights were buried in a bag under my bed for some reason so that's why you haven't seen them in years. They have a hole in them (on the back) but I remembered it being a lot worse so I think they just were forgotten. Luckily the hole isn't bad enough to not wear them! I happily wore them with my maroon skater skirt again and a...

New Year's Eve Outfit: Black Turtleneck, Gold Sequined Skater Skirt, and Dotted Tights

Image
It's the new year! Before doing a roundup of 2015 I thought I'd show you what I wore on New Year's Eve yesterday while it's still slightly relevant. (Even though the holiday is over, I'm still looking forward to seeing what you all wore.) Again, I ask: why aren't sequins a-okay all year? Or at least through the rest of the winter months which kind of suck? I spotted this gold sparkly skirt at my last trip to Target and couldn't let it go. It was the last one left and in my size so I snatched it up! I already own a blue-green sequined skirt but it's okay to have two sequined skirts in one wardrobe, right? Just agree with me. I styled this incredibly sparkly skirt with a neutral color palate. Metallics and black always scream of New Year's Eve to me. For a little extra fun I added polka dot tights and a super cool beetle pin I thrifted. I also added a thin black turtleneck because it looks good with everything. top: boohoo | skirt:...

Outfit: Houndstooth Mini Skirt, Black Turtleneck, Dotted Tights, and a Wool Beret

Image
I feel like this black and white outfit is a pretty classic look with a tiny bit of modern print mixing. It has a little bit of a 60s feel. The houndstooth skirt - yes it's houndstooth but it's hard to tell from far away - was a very early thrift find. It was hemmed into a mini skirt and I've been wearing it for years. This time I styled it with some tights with tiny dots, a fitted turtleneck shirt, a beret, and knee high boots. Something about tall boots and a mini skirt looks fantastic for fall. Also berets and turtlenecks. Hats can really make a look but I always forget to add them to my outfits. I have a drawer filled with four berets but they're tucked away and I forget they're there. Anytime I remember, they end up making my outfit 100% better though! This black one was from H&M and is the perfect size for my small head. Plus it kept my head nice and toasty during a walk around town! Now I just need to remember to wear my non-beret hats... s...

Outfit: Black Ribbed Mock Turtleneck Dress and Rust Orange Tights

Image
It's still very much fall here in Georgia so I don't feel bad showing you another Halloween-inspired outfit. I wore this the day before Halloween so it's orange and black with festive ghost earrings. This could definitely be worn right now without the ghost earrings though! The whole look kind of made me feel a little bit witchy (in a good way), especially after I added the gray eye shadows and gray-taupe matte lipstick. I thrifted this black sleeveless mock turtleneck dress up in Illinois a couple months ago. It's kind of a stretchy ribbed material and very comfortable. I wasn't sure the length was going to work but I really like how it looks with these relatively modest height heels. The orange tights I'm wearing have been in my wardrobe for years and look nice with many more colors than just black. (Anybody else still pumped about being able to wear tights again? They make it so easy to remix pieces!) Finally, the ghost earrings are basically ancient....
