Outfit: Cat Print Tank Top and a Leopard Print Skater Skirt

Image
I don't wear mixed prints as much as I used to so I was pretty excited when I paired these pieces together the other day. Something about the almost geometric cat print paired with the neutral leopard print worked very well. I was also a fan of all the neutrals and bronzey goodness going on in this look. Very summery! Plus my lipstick pretty much matched the color of my sandals. (BTW it's Zebra Ultra Metallic Lip by Colourpop and is still in stock as this is being published.) It can be hard to mix up your outfits when it's hot outside so trying out different print combinations is a good way to get different looks out of your summer pieces. Plus makeup. You can always just try out a bold lip color or some ultra colorful eye shadow to change things up too. I know lighter makeup is often the thing for summer, but wearing lipstick is much lighter than wearing an extra clothing layer, after all. What do you do to change things up when it's scorching outside? ...

Outfit: Futurama Tank Top, Mustard Cardigan, Corduroy Shorts, and Red Tights

Image
I don't own nearly enough Futurama clothing or accessories for it being my absolute favorite TV show of all time. So when I saw this Planet Express tank top on Look Human, I had to have it. First of all, it's super comfy and can be worn for lounging or actual leaving-the-house activities. Second, it shrunk to the perfect size after washing. You can probably tell here that the straps were too long the first time I wore it. I'm glad I threw it through the dryer before taking them up because it's an 100% perfect fit now. For its first day out I paired it with some bright colors: my mustard yellow cardigan and a pair of bold red tights. The brights were balanced out by my black corduroy shorts and a pair of patent mary jane flats from Modcloth. Just a comfortable weekend outfit and a welcome reunion with these high-waisted shorts I hadn't worn in much too long. I love getting back in my comfy high-waisted shorts that I used to wear so often back in college...

Outfit: Pink Pencil Skirt, Blue Anchor Print Top, Mint Green Satchel, and White Sandals

Image
Have you ever put together an outfit and then taken a step back to bask in the glory of your color mixing skills? No? Well then never mind; neither do I.  I do have to admit I'm kind of in love with the color mixing going on in this look though. I picked up this cute anchor print top from a Modcloth sale a few weeks back. I couldn't resist the vibrant blue mixed with the anchor print. Although I'm not a huge fan of beaches, I do enjoy a good nautical-inspired clothing item. Instead of pairing it with the usual red, I went with this pink linen pencil skirt I thrifted many moons ago. I always wonder why I don't wear it all that often, but whenever I put it on again I'm reassured that it's a good thing I've held on to it for so long.  For accessories, I grabbed the mint green Brit-stitch bag Modcloth sent to me a month or so ago because the colors all play together so nicely. The white sunglasses were a Walmart clearance find years ago and the sand...

Outfit: Elephant Graphic Tank Top, Dotted Denim Skirt, Silver Sandals, & Red Sunglasses

Image
I'm just now getting to pictures from Fourth of July weekend but I'm really excited to share them! It's nice to have something different to show you. Matt and I took a short trip down to the very southernmost coast of Georgia to a town called St. Mary's and bopped around for about a day total. These photos were taken the first evening on the shore near its little downtown area.  This is what I wore in the car for hours so it had to be a super comfy outfit but still cute enough to wear around all day. I went with my new elephant graphic tank top I got at the Mother Mother concert and a light denim polka dot skirt. I wore my trusty silver sandals the entire trip - even on Cumberland Island - and they may have gotten a little dirty and gross. I still need to deep clean them somehow but I think they've definitely seen better days and there's no turning back. That's disappointing because they're probably the most comfortable sandals I own! Do you ever...

Outfit: Mint Green Satchel, Donut Print Bodysuit, and White High Waisted Jeans

Image
I wore this pastel-colored outfit over the weekend because I probably shouldn't wear donut print to work (though it's not out of the question). I don't own a lot of pastel colors so when I wear them I have the urge to find all the pastel things I own and put them together. Does anyone else do that? Modcloth sent me this awesome mint green Brit-Stitch satchel bag and the first thing I thought to pair with it was my donut print bodysuit. The green frosted donut nearly perfectly matches this purse! Then I added some very 80s-looking white jeans with my blue wedges and some white sunglasses.  bodysuit: forever 21 | jeans: c/o boohoo | shoes: xappeal - shoe carnival | sunglasses: walmart | have style, will travel bag in mint - c/o modcloth This purse Modcloth sent me is so high quality I'm in love. It's entirely leather and feels like it won't fall apart after using it a few months. This was a bit of a surprise collaboration to me too! I contribu...

A Stop in Metropolis, IL and a Comfy Traveling Outfit

Image
Happy Tuesday everyone! It's time to show you some pictures from our stop in Metropolis, Illinois and the comfy outfit I wore driving that day. We finally decided to stop and see the giant Superman statue! We've driven by the town 1-2 times a year since I can remember and have never stopped so it was about time. It was a cute little town but the main draw was the colorful Superman stuff. It really stood out against the dreary, sprinkling weather. We only stayed a half hour but it was fun to take a few touristy pictures. jeans: new york and company | top: forever 21 | cardigan: thrifted (originally from target) | shoes: korks - shoe carnival Looking back at these pictures I'm realizing how much I love how this outfit turned out. It was kind of thrown together, mixing comfortable items for a cozy drive. The combination of khaki green and yellow just works! Plus any outfit with my Star Trek shirt is an A+ in my book, despite it being kind of inappropriate in a town...

Outfit: Khaki Green Jeans, Floral Blouse, and Brown Wedge Sandals

Image
Happy Monday everyone! I know some of you aren't particularly interested in more casual outfits like this, but I just got these green jeans and wanted to share them with you. I try really hard to style jeans in a non-boring way so I hope this doesn't bore you too much. I love these new khaki green jeans though. I can't get enough of olive green shades lately so when these jeans fit so well they needed to become part of my wardrobe. I enjoy the zipper pocket detail and the seam down the back. For their first day out I paired them with a floral hand-me-down top and some brown wedge sandals. It was a great summer to fall transitional outfit. This outfit would be perfect for a warm spring day too though! jeans: new york & co. | top: hand-me-down forever 21 | wedges: forever 21 | earrings: forever 21? So what do you think about my new jeans? They should be really versatile. How would you style them for cooler weather? I keep thinking about wearing them with a...

Outfit: Skinny Polka Dot Pants, Floral Tank Top, & Nude Heels

Image
Happy Wednesday everyone! I've been feeling pants lately but it's been way too hot to wear them. This polka dot pair is loose and light enough to deal with about 15 minutes of outdoor time. This was about as light as I could get an outfit that featured pants. My solution is to wear no other layers and keep my top half as bare as possible. Luckily we have air conditioning so I was comfortable inside! I'm really ready for the weather to allow some layering though.  top, pants: forever 21 | shoes: xappeal - rack room shoes | belt: thrifted I want to apologize for abandoning my regular weekly blog features lately. I promise they'll come back. I really like the variety they bring to the blog, but I've been bogged down in searching for a job and other life stuff. It seems like the days fly by and I can't get ahead. There's just too much to do! I'll always make an extra effort to get at least a couple outfits posted each week though.  Anyway, ...
