Outfit: Denim Button Down Skirt, Red Striped Shirt, and Silver Sandals

Image
One of my favorite color combinations to wear in the summer is red, white and blue - which is especially perfect around Independence Day! I wore this simple outfit over the weekend to a trip to a dog park, to the mall, and to see the new Legend of Tarzan movie (which I thoroughly enjoyed.)  I've been feeling wearing denim much more often, especially when paired with a good striped shirt. Sometimes it's nice to keep things simple and classic. I still have some fun going on with the silver shoes and red sunglasses, but a striped shirt and denim pairing is a time-honored look. And for a reason! It looks good and never goes out of style. When wearing classic combinations, it's just good to keep your denim pieces somewhat up to date to keep from looking frumpy or out of style.  This skirt was an ASOS find late last year and I've gotten a ton of use out of it. It may be in my bag to take on our trip to Europe later this year because it goes with everything and is...

Outfit: 4th of July Red Stripes, Blue Shorts, & Gold Sparkly Loafers

Image
Happy Monday everyone! This will be the last holiday-time post but I figured I better get it over with and show you what I wore on the 4th. I decided to go for ultimate comfort and wear these stretchy blue shorts with a striped t-shirt. The gold accessories made everything even more festive! It's not a particularly cutting edge outfit but it's what I wore, it was colorful, and I liked it. shorts & top: forever 21 | shoes: xhileration - target | necklace: vintage from great grandma | hair bow: ? Did you guys have a good weekend? I spent the holiday eating ribs and drinking margaritas with my family and family friends. The rest of the weekend was relaxing overall. I got a couple things checked off my to-do list too. Hooray! It feels like I'm starting to get into the groove of summer and my part time freelance work. This month I have to start hardcore looking for a full-time real adult job though. My time of taking it easy after finishing grad school is...

4th of July Remix: Red, White, & Blue Outfits

Image
Happy Independence Day! I fully intended on having an all-new outfit post for you guys, but we ended up staying out too late at the mall. I wore an outfit filled with patriotic colors but it was dark by the time I got home. People probably just thought I was overly into the holiday one day early. So, I apologize, but here are outfits from Fourth of July's past and other outfits featuring red, white, & blue. It's clearly one of my favorite color combinations so there are plenty of looks to show you. The first two pictures are probably my favorite and were actually meant to be 4th of July looks. The very last outfit is from 4th of July 2011. Enjoy! One | Two Three | Four | Five Six | Seven | Eight Nine | Ten | Eleven Twelve | Thirteen | Fourteen Putting together this post gave me some ideas for today's festive outfit! I think I may have to go with that plaid pleated skirt. What would you wear with it on a muggy Georgia summer day? Have a ...

What To Wear: Fourth of July

Image
Can you believe it's almost the Fourth of July? No matter what plans you have, there is a way to wear a festive outfit (if that's what you're into). I tend to go all out with the red, white, and blue color scheme. When else is it appropriate to wear multiple instances of flag print and/or nautical items? I put together a few outfits for different activities you may be up to on the Fourth. These are all wearable for a normal summer day too as long as you're into nautical or American flag-themed pieces! Below you'll find an outfit idea for a date to see the fireworks, drinking beer on the porch with friends, attending a family barbecue party, and going to a poolside holiday bash.  For a date to see the fireworks with your sweetheart you could wear: Do You Read Me Dress : Modcloth |   Vintage Anchor Earrings and Pin : The Polka Dot Armadillo | Crochet Headband : Forever 21 | White Satchel Purse : Forever 21 | Take a Stride With Me Wedge : Modcloth To drink...

A Super Patriotic Overalls & Striped T-shirt Outfit

Image
Happy Independence Day! I'm so excited about this super patriotic-looking outfit. I borrowed these overall shorts from Jeanie's closet to be super comfy the other day. The outfit turned into this slightly updated Rosie the Riveter getup. And I like it! It's no secret I love to wear blue and red together. This makes it super easy to throw together many patriotic ensembles during the first week of July. I would wear this any other time during the summer too, but I thought it was super appropriate to share it on the 4th of July! overalls: route 66 - thrifted | striped t-shirt: forever 21 | shoes: cherokee - target | scarf: thrifted | sunglasses: kohl's So... It's appropriate to wear both red and blue makeup for themed outfits, right? Or whenever I feel like it. Either way. I always forget I have this bright blue eyeliner. I wore it for the 4th last year, so I guess it's my patriotic eyeliner.  This was seriously such a comfy outfit....

Independence Day, Hooray!

If there's one thing Jeanie and I like to do on the Fourth of July, it's dressing in garish red, white, and blue clothing. Then we take pictures on the front lawn with all the cars driving by and honking/staring. Happy Fourth! Jeanie's eagle ring made an appearance. It's only appropriate for America's birthday right? We come up with a lot of interesting poses and therefore end up with some hilarious pictures. This one was a favorite of the bunch. I present, Jeanie Lurks in the Tree Behind Me as I Peace Sign You: We feel like we're Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams in the movie Dick when we wear our Fourth of July outfits, so of course we had to have a peace sign picture!  Happy Fourth of July! I hope everyone had a fun/relaxing day!
