Outfit: Floral and Bow Print Dress, Teal Cardigan, Blue Flats, and Retro Hair

Image
Happy Easter to all of you who celebrate! I wanted to post a particularly spring-y outfit to mark such a spring-tastic holiday. I wore this floral and bow print Pepaloves dress to work just the other day. It's one of those dresses I really love but don't wear super often. Maybe it's because it seems so memorable people might notice if I wore it all the time? Or maybe I just need to find more cropped cardigans so I can wear it with more colors. A nice pink one would be good... Anyway, I paired it with my teal cropped cardigan from Delia's (which is really the perfect cropped cardigan for me) and my pointed royal blue flats. I've been putting my hair up again more often so it's in this slightly messy bouffant with flower hair clips to match the dress. It's funny how I was pretty decent at getting my hair in a bouffant before I cut my hair super short two years ago. Then once it grew out again I had to relearn. There were a couple mornings I spent ...

Outfit: Star Trek Matching Set with Blue Flats and a Bouffant

Image
top, skirt: handmade | shoes: delia's | earrings: dragon con 2014 I know I wore this Star Trek matching set to Dragon Con last year, but I just had to put it back on for Dragon Con 2015. Mom made it for me and it's one of my favorite outfits I own. I especially enjoy that the skirt and top can be worn separately too. I've definitely gotten plenty of use out of the skirt because the pattern pairs with pretty much any other color. The top gets less wear because I have to wear a sticky bra with it and ain't nobody got time for that - most days. This was my outfit for the last day of Dragon Con, which is probably the saddest day because everyone's packing to leave and most of the panels are finished. The crowds are 1/10th of their former ridiculousness. We still headed down there for more people watching and to eat lunch though. I'm already looking forward to next year! Anyway, I hope you're all having a fantastic week so far and had a great we...

Work Outfit: Bow Print Dress, Pink Short Sleeved Cardigan, White Sandals, and a Bouffant

Image
As you can probably tell, I've been experimenting with some photo locations since I moved. I tried with these but my balcony really isn't large enough for outfit photos! These turned out okay though and they're something different.  I wore this little bow print dress to work the other day. It's the one I bought from the kids' section of Target. (Hooray for being small enough for that! Though it's imperative that an adult shopping in the kids' section can tell the difference between things that could possibly be made for an adult and things that are clearly for humans under 10-years-old. I believe I have the ability to make that judgment.) I paired the dress with a short sleeved cardigan for some color and my white sandals from Boohoo. And look! Another super messy bouffant because why not? dress: target | cardigan: forever 21 | sandals: boohoo | hair bow: handmade | glasses: zenni optical | earrings: great grandma's? So how is your week...

Work Outfit: White Shift Dress with Sheer Cutouts and Two-toned Flats

Image
Happy Monday! I picked up this shift dress from Boohoo.com a little while back and waited to wear it for some reason. I don't know why, because I love it! I don't have a lot of shift dresses so this one was a welcome addition to my wardrobe. I love the modern mesh cutouts with the classically shaped dress. It also has a texture that reminds me of a reptile print when you look at it up close. I'm sure I'll figure out plenty of ways to wear this white dress but I kept it pretty simple and a little retro for its first time out.  This hugely messy bouffant was a test to see if I could manage getting my hair up. It's long enough with a ton of bobby pins, but I'm still not very skilled at fixing my hair. I blame it on having a hairdresser mom who does my hair way better (and faster) than I ever could. Therefore I never had to learn how to fix mine. That's okay though. My strategy is to throw a giant bow on it. Try it. It helps! dress: boohoo | shoes:...

Kelly Green Sweater, Flannel Shirt, Black Skater Skirt, & Yellow Tights

Image
This outfit is from my trip up to Illinois, hence the snow in the pictures! I almost didn't wear these yellow tights, thinking they might add too much bright color to this outfit, but I went for it. I love the way they look with my green sweater. It's hard for an outfit to be too colorful in my book! This actually may be a new favorite outfit of mine! The colors look so vibrant against the snowy background. Also, my hair-do looks especially nice in these pictures because Mom put it up. There are many perks to having a hairdresser in the family! sweater: ann taylor loft - thrifted | flannel top: xhileration - target | skirt: forever 21 | tights: forever 21 | shoes: boohoo | earrings: charming charlie I hope you're having a great week. It's always kind of depressing after New Year's Eve is over, don't you think? January and February kind of suck as far as months go. Maybe they'll be good this year though. You never know. Happy Friday!

Flannel Shirt, Skater Skirt, & a Red Bow on a Bouffant

Image
This skirt is such a crappy color but I try to make it work. Online it looked much more army green than whatever non-color this is. Oh well. It looks fine with my flannel shirt so it's useful! This day I decided to throw my hair up into a messy bouffant and put a big bow on it too. That was probably the best part of this look. This seemed like a very "fall" outfit to me!  shirt: target | skirt: boohoo | tights: forever 21 | boots: thrifted | bow: euberah  I'm on Thanksgiving break right now but it's not very relaxing. I didn't think it would be. I often wonder if I'll ever feel relaxed again in my life. I'll probably feel much more content once this semester is finally over whether or not my plans for spring semester are finalized. I'm sick of worrying though.  I am  doing some fun stuff over the break though, so don't worry. We went to see Catching Fire  yesterday. I really liked it! It was very true to the book. I'm s...

Vintage Blue Oyster Cult T-shirt and a Pleated Plaid Skirt

Image
This Blue Oyster Cult shirt is one of my favorite t-shirts. (Dad's old concert t-shirts are some of the best I own.) It's way cooler than I am so when I put it on it instantly increases my cool factor. Especially when paired with a plaid skirt that may or may not have been a child's school uniform. Am I right, or am I right? I try to limit the frequency that I wear my vintage t-shirts because I don't want them to get over-washed and threadbare. They have to live forever! Yeah I know that won't happen, but this one is in good shape so I expect it to be around for a couple more decades. Anyway, this outfit is about as cool as it gets for me. I liked it a lot! t-shirt: vintage from Dad | plaid skirt: thrifted | shoes: solanze - shoe carnival | stud earrings, silver ring, hair bow: forever 21 | blue stone ring: old from the great grandma collection I had a messy messy bouffant that day...Oh well! I threw a bow on it, so it was okay. That's how it work...

Navy Striped Dress, Spiky Shoes, and a Bouffant

Image
Remember my mustache dress I wore a few posts back? Well this is the same Walmart child dress with a different pattern! I think I'll get more wear out of this classic striped number than the mustache print one, but they were both so inexpensive it really doesn't matter. I can definitely see this dress worn a number of different ways - especially in cooler weather with tights and various layering items. Its first time out needed to have a nautical vibe though. Gold and navy blue always look great together. Plus I had new anchor earrings to wear. How would you wear a striped dress like this?  dress: faded glory - walmart | shoes: boohoo | belt: thrifted | anchor earrings: forever 21 | necklace: great grandma collection In other life news I began the process of moving Matt into my apartment over the weekend. That meant clearing out a lot of my clothes and taking them home. Sad times. Though there were things there that I haven't worn in a long time so I gues...

A Super Colorful Tropical Print Skirt, Yellow Top, & Pink Wedges

Image
Happy Wednesday everyone! Here's a very colorful outfit I wore the other day while visiting people in Illinois. I had an idea of not wearing any neutral colors in this outfit and it really worked out in my opinion. I actually wore a version of this before but never put it on the blog. This skirt has one of the best prints in my whole wardrobe. It's so bright and fun! Plus nobody else has one like it since it was handmade by my mom. skirt: handmade | top: forever 21 | shoes: cherokee - target | sunglasses: forever 21 | pink earrings: thrifted | wheel earrings: forever 21 I asked Mom to put my hair up that day and a big bouffant resulted. I usually ask her to make it nice and big. It's glorious. If only Mom could do my hair every day. This is all swirly and pretty and professional. When I do my own hair at school the back is a mess 90% of the time. Which means I just slap a couple bows on it and ta-da! Good enough.  And here is my magazine face pose for y...
