Holiday Outfit: Green Velvet Dress, Bow Print Tights, and Rose Gold Heels

Image
Happy Friday everyone! I was looking forward to debuting my green velvet dress from Modcloth on this family visit! This is the outfit I ended up wearing yesterday for Christmas dinner. Green velvet is kind of perfect for the holiday so I went all out and styled this dress extra holiday-tastic with bow tights and a bow necklace. This is definitely the classy way to wear this green dress. The whole outfit had a great mix of texture, pattern, and shine a la What Not To Wear rules. I'll probably be able to style this dress in a much more casual way when I get home though! How would you wear it on a normal day about town? Anyway, I'm pretty excited about having a velvet dress again. I had a blue crushed velvet dress but it was way too big in the boobs and shoulders so I gave it to my sister. This one is such a classic shape and a perfect length on me. With its deep scoop neck my boobs were out a tiny bit more than I'm used to these days, but nobody was mad about that. It...

Red Dress over a Black Mock Turtleneck Sweater, Polka Dot Tights, & a Bow Necklace

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you all have a nice day doing romantic things or just stuffing your face with treats! Here's an outfit I wore a couple weeks back but saved for today since it features this red dress I thrifted. I just really liked how this outfit turned out with the turtleneck sweater layered underneath my sleeveless dress. Plus polka dot tights look good with pretty much anything.  I'll post what I actually wore today sometime soon! I went with non-traditional blue lace dress for Valentine's day last year. (Though we celebrated a day early. I wore a  heart sweater outfit on the actual holiday.) I still love the more common red and pink color scheme of the holiday though. For Valentine's Day 2012 I went with the red and black color scheme with a red wool skirt and striped tights . Red dresses are always a good idea though - so here's a red dress outfit!  dress: thrifted | sweater: thrifted | tights: kmart | boots: hand-me-down | neckla...

Leopard Print Coat, Blue Velvet Collared Sweater, Leather Skirt, & Lace Print Tights

It's Monday again already! The weekends fly by, don't they? Oh well. Here's an outfit I wore a little while back and am just now getting to posting! I thrifted this collared cardigan while we were in Illinois in December. I couldn't resist the velvet collar and the fact that it was like a blouse, but a cardigan. Also the shade of blue is really pretty and I like how it looks with my red hair. For its debut I paired it with my leather skater skirt and my vintage leopard print coat. Whenever I wear this leather skirt, I enjoy the texture it adds. It also adds a little extra cool-ness to any outfit!  coat: vintage from great grandma | sweater: thrifted | skirt: forever 21 | tights: forever 21 | boots: hand-me-down | necklace: forever 21 | earrings: stella & dot Did you guys have a good weekend? I did, but I'm ready for the next one already. If only life could be all weekends. Though after next weekend I'll have to be doing grad school work un...

Ten Dollar Boots

Image
This outfit was from a little while back before the break, so I'm in my usual school spot by the brick wall. Hooray! I'm not really sure how I feel about this one. One of my buttons on the cardigan had just popped off. I'm also not sure how flattering these boots are, but they were $10 over the summer so the purchase was justified. cardigan: forever 21 skirt: forever 21 tights: forever 21? boots: sam's club necklace: forever 21 bow: forever 21 I like this bow necklace. It seems to match with a ton of my outfits and it's festive for holiday times. I also wear this cardigan a lot when I need some pattern in an outfit because it's kind of neutral. Yeah, not sure how I feel about these boots. Oh well! Happy Monday!

In 25 Minutes

Surprisingly (or maybe not so much) I got showered, dressed, and ready in 25 minutes the day I wore this. I overslept. Oh well! top: forever 21 skirt: forever 21 cardigan: so...; kohls tights: kmart shoes: xhileration; target headband: forever 21 necklace: forever 21 gift I had to have a red jacket for a pop of color, right? This one was thrifted as part of a suit. The red high-waisted pants that came with it are back at home. People in one of my classes kept commenting on my polka dot tights. I think they're pretty fantastic as well and they look nice with the striped top. This outfit had to be something I knew would match as I had no time for trial and error. Sometimes I like a black and white color scheme though. I had to go way up to north campus today to get some class schedule stuff worked out and I couldn't resist using my Starbucks gift card when it was right across the street. I got a caramel apple spice and boy was it delic...
