Outfit: Fall-Colored Chevron Dress, Dark Green Tights, and a Red Short Sleeved Cardigan

Image
dress: modcloth | cardigan: ann taylor - thrifted | tights, shoes: forever 21 You most certainly can wear red and green without looking like Christmas threw up on you! The trick is using shades of red and green that aren't pure bright versions and instead using muted shades or jewel tones. Mixing in other colors helps too. My dress here includes red and green, but also gold, maroon, tan, and cream which draws away from the traditionally Christmas-tastic color pairing. Because of the many colors in this dress it goes with a ton of different tights and cardigan combinations too. It's one of my favorites in the fall because the colors match the trees. This time I styled it with a pair of very dark green tights, a short sleeved red cardigan I thrifted a couple years ago, and some brown high heeled oxfords that turned out to be way comfier than I remembered. I figured it was about time I showed you this super autumnal outfit before it's officially winter! What do yo...

Outfit: Chevron Print Dress with a Burgundy Leather Jacket and Ankle Boots

Image
Happy Monday everyone! These pictures were taken a couple weeks ago in Chicago. Matt and I took a train into the city and wandered around after he had an interview (which explains his fancy suit.) We had to take the obligatory pictures with The Bean which is this giant mirror object you see here. I'm sure a lot of you have seen The Bean before. It sure provides an interesting backdrop for pictures! I'm lucky to have a boyfriend who humors me by letting me take way too many pictures from many different angles. Anyway, I planned this outfit around these comfy burgundy ankle boots from Boohoo. I knew we'd be doing a lot of walking. As it turns out, if I walk around 10 miles in a day my feet will hurt no matter what shoes I'm wearing. Surprise! I really love how these boots match my faux leather jacket though. That burgundy shade runs through my chevron print dress too. This outfit was pretty matchy-matchy but I hope it matched in a good way.  dress: modcloth | jacke...

A Jeanie Outfit: Teal Chevron Dress, Gold Skinny Belt, & Studded Black Heels

Image
Happy Monday everyone! I hope you're having a nice day so far. It's time for another Jeanie outfit here on the blog! This is what she wore to our uncle's wedding. This teal chevron print dress is great because it can be dressed up or down. She wore some super cool studded heels and added a gold belt to make it fancier. Plus she wore one of our mom's bow pins as a hair pin - something I've been doing lately with my own pins/brooches/whatever-you-prefer-to-call-thems. It's a creative idea to get more use out of those pins you may have laying around! sorry I'm not sure of the outfit details this time! The fancy outfits and snowy backgrounds are over for now! Did you guys have a good weekend? I survived taking my comprehensive exams and spent the rest of the weekend walking around Athens with Matt. We saw Muppets Most Wanted  (which was awesome) and took in a free eco-film at Cine downtown. Cine is great because it's affordable and they h...

Cobalt Blue Sweater Over a 70s-Colored Chevron Dress

Image
Happy Wednesday everyone!  Even though this dress isn't a 70s style, the colors are really 70s-tastic with the avocado green and gold going on. Those colors just seem really autumnal to me. I threw a thin cropped sweater over this dress for ultimate comfort and to make it more fall appropriate since the dress has an open back. I really like the way the cobalt blue plays off the colors in this dress too. This is definitely one of those outfits that required very little thought in the morning when I was running late for class. P.S. Sorry my brown flats are a little ratty now. They've served me well for a few years...Clearly. dress: modcloth | sweater: forever 21 | flats: xhileration - target | headband: forever 21 I plan on taking a small break from researching today so I'm pretty excited about that. I'm also incredibly pumped about the recent news that I'm going to see Neutral Milk Hotel tomorrow night! A classmate miraculously had an extra ticket....

Sister Style: Heart Print & Chevron Dresses

Image
Happy Monday everyone! Here's what Jeanie and I wore to a get-together last Thursday. There was plenty of fun had by all because Cards Against Humanity is a hilarious game.  These pictures were taken just when Matt pulled up to pick us up so they're obviously the most attractive. It's always awkward having extra spectators when outfit picture time is happening.  My dress is a recent Target purchase. I randomly decided to try it on because I didn't have anything like it yet. This is probably as close to the maxi dress trend that I'd get. It's just more flattering on my short frame if some leg is showing. It's also an incredibly comfortable dress, so that's always a plus! shoes: shoe carnival | dress: target | spiked bracelet: jigsaw london Have a great day!

Braid-y Bunch Outfit

Image
Something about the colors in this outfit shows off my ultimate pallor, but that's okay! I wore this to a graduation party last weekend. Dresses are the simplest way to look like you tried without having to put forth much effort. I've just been in a dress mood lately too, I guess! This one was a bargain during one of Modcloth's sales. I think I paid something around $16 for it. This is the first time I got to show off the cutout back detail! Jeanie told me I looked like I was channeling The Brady Bunch. She also told me that's what I should title this blog post because I had braids in my hair. And it was so. foliage tour dress : modcloth | shoes: xhileration - target | sunglasses: forever 21 | square hoop earrings: thrifted | triangle stud earrings: forever 21 Mom did my hair here and I love it. I requested something with braids and that's exactly what I got. I'm pretty sure I'll be wearing my hair up more and more often as the summer goes ...

Chevron Print Dress, Navy Blue Cardigan, & Red Oxfords

Image
It's Wednesday! I wore this outfit to class yesterday on a very dreary, rainy, cold day. (Quite a difference from my last outfit post!) The subtle primary colors made the day feel a little brighter. Plus I hadn't worn this dress yet and wearing a new dress always improves things. Unfortunately the day as a whole was a bit of a downer, but today is a new day. foliage tour dress : modcloth | navy cardigan, navy tights, red oxford shoes, yellow bow: forever 21  nail polish: china glaze - agro This was a simple outfit but sometimes it's best to go simple on a rainy day. Playing with pattern and color makes an easy cardigan and dress combination something a little more interesting. This outfit really gives me a fall vibe, but oh well! I think this dress will be great for all seasons. It has a cutout in the back that I'm sure you'll get to see once the weather warms up. If you look at it, it has a lot of summery colors in the prin...

Thanksgiving Sister Outfits: Mini Skirts & Patterned Tights

Image
Happy post-Thanksgiving lazy day! I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving and ate a gallon of food! There's been a break from my usual posting this week because of the sickness, but I was fine enough to go to Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. I'm finally starting to feel a little better. How's your black Friday shopping going? We don't go out shopping, but I like to look at the sales online. Right now I'm looking at Jo Totes camera bags because they're having a great sale. I really need to get the rest of my Christmas shopping for everyone else done before I buy myself something though... Anyway, here's what Jeanie and I wore yesterday. tights, sweater, hair bow: forever 21 | skirt, belt: thrifted | shoes: xhileration - target | necklace: from Italy skirt, shirt, tights: forever 21 | shoes: thrifted | earrings: ? Dinosaur earrings! Now that Thanksgiving is over I guess I should get going on all my school papers, but I...

Botanical Fun

Image
These pictures are from my outing to The State Botanical Garden of Georgia, which just so happens to be conveniently located about 8 minutes from my apartment. There were still a nice amount of flowers blooming so it was really pretty. I decided I needed to get more wears out of my pretty Steal the Game Show dress from Modcloth so I took some inspiration from other bloggers and wore it as a skirt! I actually really liked how this outfit turned out. Plus it was easy to walk around in all day because I wore nice, comfy Keds. dress (worn as a skirt): Modcloth.com blouse, belt, bag: thrifted cardigan: ann taylor loft; thrifted shoes: keds sunglasses: kohls earrings: forever 21 I quite enjoyed my brightly colored nails. They're China Glaze Papaya Punch with an accent nail of Electrify from the Capitol Colours collection. I've been loving having the whole Capitol Colours collection. Especially since it's Hunger Games themed. If there...
