Outfit: Houndstooth Shorts, Glitter Back Seam Tights, and a Bow Print Shirt

Image
There's just something about houndstooth that really appeals to me. Maybe it's the versatile black and white print or that it looks so perfect paired with red, which is one of my favorite colors to wear. Either way, I keep collecting houndstooth pieces! I bought these houndstooth shorts a year or so ago. I remember trying on a pair but not finding my size in store so I ordered what I assumed would be my size online and they were perfect. Isn't it great when that happens? I'd been missing wearing shorts with tights this season, so here I am again in a shorts and tights outfit. I paired the shorts with my glittery faux back seam tights, a comfy graphic tee with a striped red bow on it, studded black loafers, and my trusty leather jacket. There's a lot of red, white, and black going on here - a favorite color combination of mine in winter even though it's not quite winter yet. jacket: ashley by twenty-six international - ross | top, shorts, tights: fo...

Outfit: Houndstooth Mini Skirt, Black Turtleneck, Dotted Tights, and a Wool Beret

Image
I feel like this black and white outfit is a pretty classic look with a tiny bit of modern print mixing. It has a little bit of a 60s feel. The houndstooth skirt - yes it's houndstooth but it's hard to tell from far away - was a very early thrift find. It was hemmed into a mini skirt and I've been wearing it for years. This time I styled it with some tights with tiny dots, a fitted turtleneck shirt, a beret, and knee high boots. Something about tall boots and a mini skirt looks fantastic for fall. Also berets and turtlenecks. Hats can really make a look but I always forget to add them to my outfits. I have a drawer filled with four berets but they're tucked away and I forget they're there. Anytime I remember, they end up making my outfit 100% better though! This black one was from H&M and is the perfect size for my small head. Plus it kept my head nice and toasty during a walk around town! Now I just need to remember to wear my non-beret hats... s...

Outfit: Pink Sweater with Houndstooth Shorts and Silver Oxford Shoes

Image
Happy Monday everyone! I wore this outfit a week or two ago. I've been loving these houndstooth shorts that I just had to order from Forever 21. I'm always happy when I can keep coming up with new outfits inspired by one new piece of clothing. I love that these shorts pair nicely with every other color. This time I went with my pink sweater with the lace bow detail that I bought last winter. Pink, black, and white is another winning color combination in my book. I kept the tights simple and added some shine with my silver cutout oxford shoes I got on clearance at Target this past summer. What do you think? Are you a fan of these houndstooth shorts too? I hope so because I already have another outfit planned for them! I may even wear it today! sweater: elle - kohl's | shorts: forever 21 | tights: walmart | shoes: sam & libby - target I hope you had a fantastic weekend and are looking forward to holiday festivities or some down time in the near future. Outfit: Houndstooth Shorts, Black Short Sleeved Sweater, and Yellow Tights

Image
Do you ever try something on at the store, leave it, and find yourself unable to stop thinking about it? That's what happened with me and these shorts. Houndstooth is one of my favorite patterns, along with polka dots and leopard print of course. Anyway, Forever 21 only had an XS and M in these shorts so I tried on both but neither fit. Usually I'd just shrug and say, "oh well." This time I was convinced the elusive size S would indeed fit so I tracked down the shorts online and ordered away. I'm very glad to say I was absolutely correct and they fir comfortably and are super cute. For their first day out I styled them with some new yellow tights and a thrifted short sleeved sweater. This sweater has an evil habit of shedding its hairs into my eyes. I think it's some sort of angora blend. (This time my eyes stayed hair free though!) These Boston Terrier flats haven't been getting enough love lately but they were perfect with my black, white, and yellow ...

Cat Print Tank Top, Red Scuba Skater Skirt, and Houndstooth Flats

Image
Happy happy Wednesday everyone! I wore this outfit out to lunch when I was back in Athens. I'm really loving this new neoprene skater skirt. I got it with some credit I won to Sheinside via The Clothes Horse. The scuba material makes it a little different from the other skater skirts I own. I went with a classic black/white/red color scheme and paired it with my cat print shirt from Modcloth (given to me by a friend who's an ex-blogger). The houndstooth flats were a good choice since they're comfortable to walk in and they add a subtle pattern mix to the look. This is a pretty typical summer look for me. Georgia is hot and very humid. You've heard me complain about it about a billion times. Skater skirts are breezy and look really cute paired with short sleeved or sleeveless tops. Don't worry though. I'll be featuring other types of outfits on here soon.  (Also I can't express how nice it is to have my hair this short in the summer. So comfortable!) ...

Star Trek Tank Top, Houndstooth Pencil Skirt, & Black Wedges

Image
Happy happy Friday everyone! I can't believe it's already the end of the week. It flew by. Anyway, here is the second time I've worn my Star Trek muscle tee on this blog. While I'm not a fan of having to wear a bandeau bra underneath this shirt (since the armholes are gigantic), it is an incredibly comfortable combination. I could absolutely sleep in this shirt/bra combo. I bought the shirt despite the muscle tee situation because of the awesome Star Trek graphic. There are more characters tucked into my skirt because the shirt is so long on me! Oh well.  This time I paired it with a thrifted houndstooth pencil skirt that I stole from Jeanie's room and was wearing to work the past few months. At the end of this post you'll see that I threw on a leather jacket and took a picture. Then I realized it was way too warm for a jacket. It looked cool though! top: forever 21 | skirt: thrifted | shoes: shoe carnival  | jacket: ross dress for less | earrings: from...

Colorful Plaid Shirt, Green Cardigan, Corduroy Shorts, & Burgundy Ankle Boots

Image
Happy Friday everyone! Here's an outfit I wore a couple weeks back that somehow ended up on the back burner. Or maybe I just magically created snow and grew my hair out in a week. You decide. I really love these corduroy shorts I bought from Forever 21 a couple years ago. They're so comfortable and have held up perfectly. I decided to pair them with my colorful flannel shirt and a green cardigan I thrifted over the summer. There are hardly any neutral colors going on in this outfit and I kind of love that. Navy is a neutral in my book, but not everyone's, and these shorts are kind of a bright, tawny brown shade so they can swing either way. Good times. I'm sure I'm thrilling you with my dialogue right now. So here's the outfit: cardigan: ann taylor loft - thrifted | flannel shirt: xhileration - target | shorts: forever 21 | tights: target kids' section | boots: boohoo | bow: handmade This is another bow my cousin made me. I love houndstooth a...

Little Mermaid Shirt, Houndstooth Mini Skirt, Teal Cardigan, & Bow Print Tights

Image
Happy Thursday everyone! Here's an outfit I wore featuring not one, but two Little Mermaid items. Jeanie bought me this Little Mermaid shirt for Christmas and I love it. I figured it was only appropriate to pair it with a new Little Mermaid hair bow made by my cousin! I also mixed my houndstooth mini skirt and bow print tights for some fun pattern mixing. I always enjoy wearing those two pieces together. This skirt hardly looks like houndstooth from far away though. Oh well! I assure you it is. skirt: thrifted | top: delia's - gift | cardigan: delia's | tights: forever 21 | shoes: delia's - gift | bow: handmade These bow print tights are one of my favorite pairs. I'm going to be so sad when they get a hole so big I can't wear them anymore! If I find a backup pair I'll definitely buy them! Sorry I've been slacking in blog land lately. I started a full time internship this week and I'm doing that - including commute - for about 1...

Casual New Year's Eve Outfit: Vintage T-Shirt, Tulle Skirt, & Striped Tights

Image
Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a nice New Year's Eve. Mine was very casual and I enjoyed that a lot. We played a board game, had some beer, and watched various countdown shows until midnight. There were also sparklers, so that was exciting.  I thought about wearing a fully sequined dress but I was kind of tired and wanted to be able to lounge. That's not exactly easy when you're worried about sequins laying correctly. I was glad I had this black tulle skirt at home! It's festive but also comfortable - especially when paired with a soft vintage t-shirt like this Psychotic State one. This is probably my all-time favorite vintage shirt from Dad and that's saying something because they're all really cool. How can you beat this one though? I figured it made a nice statement about 2013 and the large amount of grad school that took up my life and brain. Anyway, I tried to add as much sparkle to my outfit as possible with my silver beaded necklace ...
