Outfit: Cat Print Tank Top and a Leopard Print Skater Skirt

Image
I don't wear mixed prints as much as I used to so I was pretty excited when I paired these pieces together the other day. Something about the almost geometric cat print paired with the neutral leopard print worked very well. I was also a fan of all the neutrals and bronzey goodness going on in this look. Very summery! Plus my lipstick pretty much matched the color of my sandals. (BTW it's Zebra Ultra Metallic Lip by Colourpop and is still in stock as this is being published.) It can be hard to mix up your outfits when it's hot outside so trying out different print combinations is a good way to get different looks out of your summer pieces. Plus makeup. You can always just try out a bold lip color or some ultra colorful eye shadow to change things up too. I know lighter makeup is often the thing for summer, but wearing lipstick is much lighter than wearing an extra clothing layer, after all. What do you do to change things up when it's scorching outside? ...

My Birthday Outfit: Vintage 80s Dress & Polka Dot Tights

Image
I always like to wear a completely new piece of clothing on my birthday each year. It feels good to save the first time I wear a dress for a special day! This dress was thrifted in July when we were visiting Illinois so it has been waiting in my closet for its debut for a while. When I tried it on, I couldn't leave it because it fit like it was made for me. Plus I love a good 80s dress. I seriously should have been my age in the 80s. I love the big hair and the fun, often garish clothing style. This dress isn't too 80s-tastic for normal wear which is another reason why I love it so much. It also has pockets which makes it extra perfect. Sure, the shoulder pads are definitely 80s, but it's not too much. Plus I modernized the styling a little bit by adding another print and swapping out the matching belt. It was a great birthday outfit and 100% me. dress: vintage 80s - savers | tights: kmart | heels: daisy fuentes | belt: thrifted | earrings: hand-me-downs from Mom | l...

Mini Houndstooth & Stripes

Image
Happy Monday everyone! Here's a simple outfit I threw together with my new striped crop top. It was ultra cheap, classic, and neutrally colored, so I figured it would be a good addition to my wardrobe. I'll be able to wear it with a bunch of different things. This time I paired it with my thrifted mini houndstooth skirt. The prints are both geometric, so they go together. top: forever 21 | skirt: thrifted | shoes: solanze - shoe carnival | earrings: forever 21 Aren't these earrings neat? You just string them through your ear. I was kind of concerned about them hurting to put in but a review on the website said they don't, so I went for it. It just feels weird to put them on but there isn't any pain. Now, I've had those first holes pierced since 1st grade so they're completely healed up on the inside and no earrings bother them. These could probably really irritate finicky piercings. Did you guys have a good weekend? I actually went to ...

Tie Dye with Polka Dots

Image
I've gotten so much use out of this polka dotted kids' skirt. I've only had it a few months, but it seems to go with so many different tops! It also helps that it was really inexpensive. I think it was something around $7 on clearance? Good times. This time I paired it with a clearance tie-dye shirt I got from Target a while back. I've worn this shirt more often this year than the year I bought it! I've just really been liking my sleeveless tops like this lately. Sorry I look kind of weirdly tired in these pictures. They were taken after a long day of class and making dinner and life. skirt: target | top: merona - target | sandals: solanze - shoe carnival | bracelet: jigsaw london The writing on my hand is room numbers. Who has time to look for a piece of paper or remember what room to look for? Not this girl. I hope you have a good start to your week. I just hope I survive class today. Though that's always what I hope for.  Happy Monda...

New Floral Pants with a Leather Jacket & Leopard Flats

Image
Happy Monday! Here's an outfit from spring break. I bought these floral pants for $10 the day before so obviously I had to wear them immediately. It was pretty chilly this day so they kept me relatively warm on our trip into Atlanta. We had lunch with Dad, wandered around Ikea, and went to the fancy Lennox Mall. All in all it was a good day!  floral pants: h&m | pink cardigan, ruffled top: forever 21 | jacket: ashley by twenty six international - ross dress for less | leopard print flats: xhileration - target | gracie bag in butterscotch : jototes You guys. These pants make me look like I have some semblance of a butt! It's exciting considering I'm pretty ass-less. I only brought so many pairs of shoes home for the week and nothing except my leopard flats would be easy to walk around in all day. So this print mixing was out of necessity, but I'm glad it's kind of trendy to mix floral and leopard. (Also my shoes are looking ratty and that make...

Jeanie Wears Mixed Prints

Image
Over the summer you guys get to see more Jeanie outfits! Hooray! She's usually around when I'm taking pictures, so why not. I really liked this outfit she was wearing because the prints looked so good together. I also wish I had those shoes, but we can't share because her feet are so much smaller than mine. Sad. How is it already Wednesday? Summer needs to slow down.  As for today I only have plans to go to the eye doctor. I know it's thrilling, but just calm down! The eye doctor always makes me nervous because I'm terrified of something being wrong. Nothing is ever wrong though. That is if you don't count my horrible nearsightedness. I always wonder when my sight will stop getting worse... Anyway! Have a happy Wednesday!

Dots, Stripes, Goofy Pictures

Image
This was one of those days when nearly all the pictures were of Jeanie and me goofing around. There were so many strange faces. I tried my best to pick the few that didn't look completely crazy. This just goes to show all outfit pictures can't be perfect and give off an "essence of laid-back cool". (Because I obviously look like the coolest of cool most days. Not.) I prefer my pictures on the silly side anyway! They're more me. There was a really hilarious picture of me that we laughed over for a long time, but I decided not to share it on the internet since it could haunt me forever. It was a good one though. That's what happens when I just start making faces. shorts, top, bow, necklace: forever 21 shoes: bongo - kmart belt: from a Modcloth dress Cheesin'. But I was showing you my piano necklace. These pictures are kind of unfortunate, but at least we had a hilarious time taking pictures today. It was just a simple outfit ...

Laughter, Mixed Prints, & a Beret

Image
I quite enjoyed this outfit. Jeanie and I had fun taking pictures for this post (and the one with her green sweater), as you'll be able to tell! The mix of prints was really cool in my book and the beret made everything 134x better. It was a good mix of modern and classic. This is my delighted king pose. skirt;earrings: thrifted t-shirt: forever 21 cardigan: so...;kohls tights: kmart shoes: xhileration; target belt: from mom hat: h&m And to close this post I'll leave you with a goofy picture of my mid-falling to the ground with laughter. I forgot what was so funny, but we were outside guffawing. It was wonderful. I hope everyone had a nice Wednesday. I checked off a lot of things on my to-do list, including this post! Therefore I'm going to melt some chocolate and dip strawberries into it. Maybe I'll have some tea too. I live an exciting life! Happy Wednesday!
