Outfit: Heart Print Tights, Food Pins, Red Dress, and Loafer Heels

Image
Happy almost Valentine's Day to you! In honor of the day of "wuv" I broke out a couple of old favorites to wear: this red peter pan collar dress from Modcloth and some heart print sweater tights from Forever 21. This dress, although cute, has seen better days. Something about the fabric makes it super easy to pill up so that's happening all over the place. It's sad because it's a really cute dress and comfortable too. I'm afraid it might need to be retired soon - but not until I try some remedies to reduce the pilling. The highlight of this look is my super cool food-themed pins. I actually wore this last Friday on National Pizza Day, hence the pizza pin. Also it was Friday - hence the fries. The fries pin was lovingly bestowed upon me by a new coworker and is a very welcome addition to my increasing quirky pin collection. My other accessories are thrifted. A belt thrifted long ago that I wear practically bi-weekly and a pair of loafer heels I ...

Outfit: Red and Green Plaid Dress, Faux Leather Jacket, Gray Tights, and Cat Eye Glasses

Image
Saint Patrick's day is kind of a big deal in my family and I tend to celebrate all week long, wearing as much green as possible. I do own a lot of green clothes. Unfortunately this isn't what I'm wearing today but it fits the green theme somewhat, so it'll be my St. Pat's post this year! I'm wearing a shamrock necklace so it works, right? I originally bought this green, red, and blue plaid dress from Modcloth for Christmas but it ended up being much too large in the bodice area, which is a struggle I often have with dresses fitted at the waist. The back was buckling out from too much fabric so my mom altered it for me by taking up the shoulders and now it fits perfectly! Clearly it didn't end up being a holiday dress but maybe this year it will be. For now I styled it with my faux leather jacket, some gray tights, and lace-up ankle boots. I was rocking my cat eye glasses because my eyes were bothering me too. dress : modcloth | jacket: ashley ...

Outfit: Fall-Colored Chevron Dress, Dark Green Tights, and a Red Short Sleeved Cardigan

Image
dress: modcloth | cardigan: ann taylor - thrifted | tights, shoes: forever 21 You most certainly can wear red and green without looking like Christmas threw up on you! The trick is using shades of red and green that aren't pure bright versions and instead using muted shades or jewel tones. Mixing in other colors helps too. My dress here includes red and green, but also gold, maroon, tan, and cream which draws away from the traditionally Christmas-tastic color pairing. Because of the many colors in this dress it goes with a ton of different tights and cardigan combinations too. It's one of my favorites in the fall because the colors match the trees. This time I styled it with a pair of very dark green tights, a short sleeved red cardigan I thrifted a couple years ago, and some brown high heeled oxfords that turned out to be way comfier than I remembered. I figured it was about time I showed you this super autumnal outfit before it's officially winter! What do yo...

Outfit: Pink Pencil Skirt, Blue Anchor Print Top, Mint Green Satchel, and White Sandals

Image
Have you ever put together an outfit and then taken a step back to bask in the glory of your color mixing skills? No? Well then never mind; neither do I.  I do have to admit I'm kind of in love with the color mixing going on in this look though. I picked up this cute anchor print top from a Modcloth sale a few weeks back. I couldn't resist the vibrant blue mixed with the anchor print. Although I'm not a huge fan of beaches, I do enjoy a good nautical-inspired clothing item. Instead of pairing it with the usual red, I went with this pink linen pencil skirt I thrifted many moons ago. I always wonder why I don't wear it all that often, but whenever I put it on again I'm reassured that it's a good thing I've held on to it for so long.  For accessories, I grabbed the mint green Brit-stitch bag Modcloth sent to me a month or so ago because the colors all play together so nicely. The white sunglasses were a Walmart clearance find years ago and the sand...

Work Outfit: Red Modcloth Sheath Dress, Zebra Print Cardigan, and Tan Peeptoe Heels

Image
In case you didn't know, Modcloth released their own line of Modcloth-branded designs last week. The line is filled with classic pieces with cute details like scalloped collars, bows, and ruffles. I was chosen as one of the lucky people to help show off one of their new pieces because the designs were inspired by their Style Gallery users. (I was so so excited!) They sent me this completely work appropriate and flattering bright red dress. As you probably know, I really love to wear red with my red hair , so it's a perfect dress for me! The My Byline of Work Dress seems very well made and sturdy. It's a slightly stretchy knit, but not the type that pills up after one wear. (Hooray!) The ruffled detailing at the bottom makes it more special than a regular sheath dress and makes it particularly fun to walk in since the ruffles wave around. It even has pockets for those cold days ahead (soon please?) when I need to keep my hands warm on the way to work. Unfortunately...

Outfit: Mint Green Satchel, Donut Print Bodysuit, and White High Waisted Jeans

Image
I wore this pastel-colored outfit over the weekend because I probably shouldn't wear donut print to work (though it's not out of the question). I don't own a lot of pastel colors so when I wear them I have the urge to find all the pastel things I own and put them together. Does anyone else do that? Modcloth sent me this awesome mint green Brit-Stitch satchel bag and the first thing I thought to pair with it was my donut print bodysuit. The green frosted donut nearly perfectly matches this purse! Then I added some very 80s-looking white jeans with my blue wedges and some white sunglasses.  bodysuit: forever 21 | jeans: c/o boohoo | shoes: xappeal - shoe carnival | sunglasses: walmart | have style, will travel bag in mint - c/o modcloth This purse Modcloth sent me is so high quality I'm in love. It's entirely leather and feels like it won't fall apart after using it a few months. This was a bit of a surprise collaboration to me too! I contribu...

Outfit: Food Pop Art Novelty Print Dress, Purple Cardigan, and Black Sandals

Image
I bought this amazingly fun Good Enough to Eat dress from Modcloth a while back but had to wait to wear it because the sleeves had to be taken up! I'm kind of in love with it. For its debut I wore it while apartment hunting in Atlanta. Of course I ended up a little sunburned from walking around in the sun. Except my face because my lotion has sunscreen in it! (Small victories.) Anyway, I kept it simple with a purple cardigan - that you may have seen a couple posts ago in a work outfit - and my comfy black fisherman sandal-like heels. I want to wear this dress again as soon as I can but I haven't yet figured out if I can get away with it at work. Maybe on a casual day... good enough to eat dress : modcloth | cardigan: forever 21 | sandals: korks - shoe carnival I found this graffiti covered underpass surrounding a part of the Atlanta BeltLine and knew it'd be a perfect background for this dress. Outfit + Firmoo Review: Pink Leopard Dress, Lime Green Cardigan, Blue Tights, and Blue Glasses

Image
It was a wonderful coincidence that the people over at Firmoo asked me to review a pair of their glasses right when my eyelid issue started flaring up. I actually needed an updated pair of glasses with a correct prescription to wear on non-contacts days! I picked out these blue square unisex frames because I loved the color. The blue looked a little lighter on the website but I really enjoy how they look in person too. The day I wore this outfit was one of those days where I kept piling on the color. Does that ever happen to you? Sometimes I just want to wear a ton of color! First I thought this pink leopard print dress would look fun with my bright blue tights. Then my lime green cardigan (which was a costume piece when I was in Grease in high school) was calling to me. So on it went! The glasses were kind of the icing on the multi-colored cake.  dress: modcloth | tights: walmart | cardigan: stein mart? | flower hair clip: forever 21 | glasses: c/o firmoo I was very...

Outfit: Galaxy Print Dress, Green Cardigan, and Holographic Flats

Image
Happy Monday! Jessica over at Midwest Muse let me borrow her amazing galaxy print dress last month and I'm pretty sure I need one of my own. I styled it pretty simply here with a green cardigan and my holographic flats from Forever 21. I continued the space theme with the Star Trek earrings I got at Dragon Con last year.  I feel like this is a kind of unique spring look! The galaxy print dress could easily be swapped for floral print but the different print really stands out. The great thing about galaxy print is it looks good with a ton of different colors too. Yet another reason I need to get a dress like this of my own! heart and solar system dress: modcloth - borrowed from Jessica | cardigan: h&m | shoes, hair clip: forever 21 | earrings: vendor at Dragon Con I started a full time real adult job last week and I'm getting used to a new schedule. I'm not a morning person so I'm trying to get enough sleep! Unfortunately my blogging (and/or socia...

Outfit: Black and White Plaid Dress with Purple Tights

Image
Happy Friday everyone! Today I'm excited to show you this new black & white plaid dress I bought from Modcloth with the credits I won last month for sharing a holiday outfit! I'm always so happy when I open a package and everything fits perfectly. I may have been able to size down on this but it's extra comfy because nothing is snug, which means I'll probably be able to wear it for many years. I wore this outfit to Matt's work holiday party last week. The dress has a perfect retro shape and it's actually very comfortable because the fabric is slightly stretchy. It also has a neat texture and heft to it which makes it a perfect choice in winter (especially our generally mild Georgia winters). For its debut I paired it with some dark purple tights and my trusty lace-up ankle boots. A woman at the party gave me a compliment on my colorful tights so I think they were a good choice. grazioso long farewell dress : modcloth | tights: kmart | boots: xhilerat...
