Work Outfit: Nautical Striped Shift Dress with Bronze Sandals and Cat Eye Glasses

Image
I found this little shift dress at Ross a month ago for about $26. It was a fantastic find because it's actually a petite size which means the pocket detailing is near my waist instead of down on my thighs. I didn't have a dress like this in my collection and I figured it'd be a good piece to quickly throw on for work, so it came home with me! These pictures are from my second week at my new job (which I can't believe was weeks ago now). I played up the nautical feel of the dress with bronze and gold accessories. You might notice I'm wearing my cat eye glasses yet again. You'll be seeing glasses in a lot of upcoming pictures because I was wearing them for a month or so! I think they look good with this outfit though and I've learned to embrace glasses more than I ever thought I would. (If you were wondering, my eye is feeling much better lately but I'm babying it for now with contacts about every other day instead of daily.) dress: ross | sh...

Outfit: Navy Blue Sailor Pants, Colorful Retro Shirt, and Red Shoes

Image
Happy Monday everyone! I'm excited to finally show you this ridiculously colorful shirt I picked up on clearance at Target. I swear I find the best things on clearance there. I've worn this shirt a few different ways already because I love it so much. Here I paired it with another new item to my wardrobe, these navy blue sailor pants. They're so cute! I love that I'll be able to wear them casually but also in a work environment. I just really enjoyed how this outfit turned out! top: target | pants, shoes, earrings: forever 21 | sunglasses: sam's club Unfortunately I don't have a whole lot to say to you today beyond talking about my outfit. I'm starting a new job this week and am looking forward to The Color Run this weekend though. Things are starting to happen for me so that's good! I'm just ready for my eye to heal up and everything will be going well. Plus my only "normal" pair of glasses broke yesterday so I'll be ha...

Sailboat Shirt, Red Linen Skirt, & Red Wayfarers

Image
Happy Wednesday everyone! Apparently I can't stop wearing blue and red together. Sorry. I guess I'm just reflecting my new blog layout! But really. How can I not wear nautical colors? It's still super hot outside and summery so I guess I might as well embrace it as much as possible and wear all the nautical things. This sailboat print shirt is one of my favorite thrift finds ever. It almost always gets paired with a red skirt. top: liz claiborne petite collection - thrifted | skirt: forever 21 | shoes: forever 21 | sunglasses: kohl's | ring: great grandma collection Do you guys ever feel like you're working and working on tons of stuff but nothing ever gets done? That's how I feel about this blog. And school. And everything else. Maybe that's just being an adult. If so, I don't like it! I'm behind on everything! Thankfully I think I'm almost done with the blog revamp. So that'll be one thing I don't have to worry abou...

Sailor Top, Polka Dots, & Wayfarer Sunglasses

Image
I wore this sailor-y and dotty outfit last week. I thought I may have been giving off a little bit of a 90s Sunday school teacher vibe, but I got a lot of random positive comments on this outfit. I like it even more now that I've seen the pictures. This sailor top has been sitting in my drawer all summer and hasn't been in an outfit post yet. If you want to give me more ideas on how to wear it, I'm open for suggestions. You guys probably know my wardrobe pretty well by now! I think it looked really great with this polka dot dress though! dress: romwe | top: forever 21 | shoes: bongo - kmart | sunglasses: dollar tree | bracelet: vintage hand-me-down Yesterday was Jeanie's 20th birthday so Happy Birthday Jeanie!! It needed to be said on the blog! Thank you for taking these pictures for me homegirl. Do you guys ever have weeks that just suck for no real reason? I've been in a funk all week. I know I always try to be positive and cheerful o...

A Super Patriotic Overalls & Striped T-shirt Outfit

Image
Happy Independence Day! I'm so excited about this super patriotic-looking outfit. I borrowed these overall shorts from Jeanie's closet to be super comfy the other day. The outfit turned into this slightly updated Rosie the Riveter getup. And I like it! It's no secret I love to wear blue and red together. This makes it super easy to throw together many patriotic ensembles during the first week of July. I would wear this any other time during the summer too, but I thought it was super appropriate to share it on the 4th of July! overalls: route 66 - thrifted | striped t-shirt: forever 21 | shoes: cherokee - target | scarf: thrifted | sunglasses: kohl's So... It's appropriate to wear both red and blue makeup for themed outfits, right? Or whenever I feel like it. Either way. I always forget I have this bright blue eyeliner. I wore it for the 4th last year, so I guess it's my patriotic eyeliner.  This was seriously such a comfy outfit....

Wearing A Striped Nautical Sweater and Navy Skirt Makes Me Say Ahoy!

Image
Just a quick outfit post today! I really liked how perfectly my thrifted striped sweater looked with this navy skirt, but these pictures didn't turn out the best. I blame the horribly bright sun and the epic windiness! Normally I would just wear the outfit another day and take pictures, but I'm trying to get as much use out of my tights and sweaters as I can before it gets hot! nautical sweater: thrifted | skirt, red oxford shoes, tights - forever 21 | sunglasses - kohl's How perfect is this sweater? It has a red anchor on it. It's pretty cool. Actually, Jeanie found it at the thrift store and thought it would be perfect for me. I almost didn't get it, but I'm glad I did. It's a petite size so it fits really nicely! I'm looking a bit windblown in these. Sorry! I hope you're having a good week so far! I can't believe it's Wednesday already!

Sailing Away

Image
This is pretty much a perfect summer dress. It's white, linen, and has a loose shape so it's not sticking to me when it's fifty billion degrees. Plus it's a sailor dress and it doesn't get better than that! I wore it to my family reunion last summer and I'm still enjoying it. dress: forever 21 hat: h&m shoes: xhileration - target bracelet: great grandma collection I'll be going up to Illinois for some family visiting time this week. I'm mentally preparing myself for the 12-hour car ride. Luckily we usually get Mexican food from this delicious hole-in-the-wall place right when we get there so I'm looking forward to that. I just can't believe we're this far into the summer already. I'm not ready to start grad school yet! I need more quality time with the couch and Netflix. I know, I have a rough life. Happy Monday!

Independence Day, Hooray!

Image
If there's one thing Jeanie and I like to do on the Fourth of July, it's dressing in garish red, white, and blue clothing. Then we take pictures on the front lawn with all the cars driving by and honking/staring. Happy Fourth! Jeanie's eagle ring made an appearance. It's only appropriate for America's birthday right? We come up with a lot of interesting poses and therefore end up with some hilarious pictures. This one was a favorite of the bunch. I present, Jeanie Lurks in the Tree Behind Me as I Peace Sign You: We feel like we're Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams in the movie Dick when we wear our Fourth of July outfits, so of course we had to have a peace sign picture!  Happy Fourth of July! I hope everyone had a fun/relaxing day!

I Love My Boat Shirt

Image
I seriously love this sailboat print shirt I thrifted last year. I almost didn't buy it too. It was one of those thrift finds that I initially passed up and had to go back for. The print was perfect and it wasn't a gigantic size either (like many of my thrifted button-up tops are). So here it is, still in my regular rotation because it's awesome. I tried pairing it with another print when I wore it this time. top, belt: thrifted skirt, shoes: forever 21 Even though I don't really have much to do these days, I've been getting very little sleep. Matt keeps waking me up early(ish) to go run and old high school friends that are in town keep calling me to hang out around midnight. I mean, I'm a night owl but it's hard to want to get off the couch when I woke up early. Woe is me!  I realize I should stop acting like an old person since I'm only 21. So I usually say yes to the running and the late-night bar trips.  I just hope I get...
