Outfit: Heart Print Tights, Food Pins, Red Dress, and Loafer Heels

Image
Happy almost Valentine's Day to you! In honor of the day of "wuv" I broke out a couple of old favorites to wear: this red peter pan collar dress from Modcloth and some heart print sweater tights from Forever 21. This dress, although cute, has seen better days. Something about the fabric makes it super easy to pill up so that's happening all over the place. It's sad because it's a really cute dress and comfortable too. I'm afraid it might need to be retired soon - but not until I try some remedies to reduce the pilling. The highlight of this look is my super cool food-themed pins. I actually wore this last Friday on National Pizza Day, hence the pizza pin. Also it was Friday - hence the fries. The fries pin was lovingly bestowed upon me by a new coworker and is a very welcome addition to my increasing quirky pin collection. My other accessories are thrifted. A belt thrifted long ago that I wear practically bi-weekly and a pair of loafer heels I ...

Outfit: Red Ralph Lauren Blazer with a Rose Print Dress

Image
Happy Wednesday! I thought I'd show you an outfit made mostly of old pieces since my last post was full of new things. This rose print dress was one of my first thrift finds from a few years back when I really started getting into thrifting. It was definitely $1 or less at the thrift store outlet around here. Yes. A thrift store outlet. It's completely sheer and has the most horrendous puffy yet too long sleeves. The second button pops open all the time too, yet I've held onto it. I think that's mostly because it looks so good with this red blazer I also thrifted, but also because it reminds me of the days when I thrifted all the time.  I wore this dress and blazer together years ago before I had this blog. It was about time to pull these pieces out of the closet again! This time I styled it a bit differently with gray tights and my cutout boots/flats. (What are these shoes considered anyway? I just like them.)  dress: thrifted | blazer: ralph lauren - thrifted...

A Jeanie Outfit: Fall Leaf and Fox Print Shift Dress with a Burgundy Cardigan

Image
Happy Tuesday everyone! I nearly forgot I took these pictures of my sister Jeanie's Thanksgiving outfit. I figured I better post them while it's still 2014! She's wearing her handmade fox and fall leaf print shift dress here. It's the same pattern as my mushroom print dress with a few changes in the details. Hers has a peter pan collar and little buttons while my dress has a big yellow bow on the front. It was made at the same time as my dress while we were attempting to learn to sew over the summer. Mostly I learned that patterns are difficult to understand when a ton of adjustments for size have to be made. Anyway, she was saving this dress for fall even though it's a summery material. She paired it with a maroon cardigan, sparkly belt, and some neat cutout flats. It made for a very cute fall outfit! dress: handmade | cardigan: forever 21? I'm not ready to give up fall color schemes even though it's technically winter. I'm never ready to ...

Valentine's Day Outfit: Red Dress, Leopard Print Cardigan, Backseam Tights, & Sparkly Gold Loafers

Image
Happy Wednesday everyone! Here's what I actually wore on Valentine's Day and is another outfit featuring my new short 'do. This outfit wasn't planned in advance and was thrown together that morning, but I think it turned out very festive! I went with traditional red for the holiday and wore this red Modcloth dress with a peter pan collar. I always enjoy wearing this dress because I think it's really flattering on me. I may love it even more with my short hair. Anyway, I decided I needed a little bit of leopard print too and threw on this short sleeved cardigan. Leopard and red scream Valentine's Day to me, but maybe that's just me. I also went all out with the heart accessories and matched my gold sparkly loafers to all of my gold heart jewelry.  dress: modcloth | cardigan: forever 21 | tights: macy's | shoes: xhileration - target | belt: thrifted | heart ring: forever 21 | heart necklace & earrings: gift from Matt Here's the offen...

Sister Style: Business Casual Outfits and Many Silly Poses

Image
These pictures are from a couple weeks back when Jeanie and I went to a career fair thing at school. We were told to be business casual so this is what we came up with on short notice. Luckily I have a couple thrifted wool pencil skirts hanging around so those are plenty appropriate. I'd decided we needed to take some lovely pictures together that day, so these are mostly us goofing around. Sometimes outfit pictures need to be funny. Hopefully these pictures will brighten your day a little!  on Jeanie : top, jeans: forever 21 | shoes: thrifted on me : sweater: forever 21 | button down top: delia's | skirt: pendleton petite - thrifted | tights: target | shoes: croft & barrow - kohl's | pin: thrifted Then we both loved and fought with the tripod: Happy Friday!

Red Dress, Polka Dot Tights, & Brown Vintage Boots

Image
I really like how perfectly my polka dot tights look with this red dress. My favorite part is the harmonious combination of red, black, & brown here. I actually wore this outfit to class another day, but decided to wear it on Saturday too. Outfit repeats are completely okay in my book! Especially if I didn't get a picture of it the first time.  dress: modcloth | polka dot tights: kmart | leather ankle boots: thrifted | cardigan: so... - kohl's | belt: ralph lauren - thrifted | sunglasses: kohl's This is my finger-guns-so-happy-about-spring-break pose. So much joy.  I can't believe it's already Wednesday! This week needs to slow down so I can enjoy more of my time off.

Maroon Skirt, Yellow Cardigan, & Plenty of Polka Dots

Image
I love this skirt I bought over winter break! I think I could wear it a hundred different ways and it's so very flippy. I may just wear it the rest of the week and see what other outfits I come up with. I know you guys won't judge me for that. I wore almost this exact same outfit while I was up in Illinois, but I didn't get very great pictures of it. I'll post a few here so you can see though. All I did this time was change up the tights, shoes, and add a tie around my neck. My hair was much cooler the first time too thanks to Mom's super hair skills. Maybe some day I'll wake up early enough to style my hair differently than just down and brushed. skirt: h&m | cardigan: target | blouse: delia's | tights: kmart | boots: thrifted | polka dot scarf tie (actually a belt off of some pants): forever 21 In the first version of this outfit I was wearing my super cool leopard tights. Unfortunately they have a snag already. Sad times....

eShakti Review in a Classic Green Dress

Image
Happy Monday! Today I'm reviewing eShakti , an online shop that specializes in clothes you can customize to your exact measurements.  I'm sure a lot of you fashion blog followers have seen eShakti mentioned before. It's really such a great idea for a store. First you choose from a frequently-updated array of dresses, tops, or skirts. (So frequent that my dress isn't in stock anymore!) They have a ton of classic and retro-inspired dresses so it was easy to find something I'd love. The standard size chart ranges from size 0 to 36w, but for $7.50 extra you can enter your exact measurements and have the clothes cut just for your shape. You can also customize different aspects like hem length and neckline. I definitely took advantage of the customization! My dress was originally a sleeveless design, but I added short sleeves. I also chose a knee-length hem instead of below-the-knee. As you can see, everything was exactly what I ordered! Pretty amazing stuff. ...

Doing the Red & Mint Thing

Image
It was about time I tried out the red and mint color combination I've been admiring on other bloggers. This was just a casual outfit for hanging around Athens all day. It ended up kind of crazy for what could have been a simple shorts outfit, but oh well! What can I say? I like color! Matt actually took these pictures for me while I directed. As you can see, the stone wall at my apartment has returned! I know you're overjoyed by the sight! shorts, cardigan, earrings: forever 21 | top: charlotte russe | shoes: self esteem - shoe carnival | nail polish: china glaze - secret peri-wink-le I made a to-do list for today and tomorrow. It's quite extensive, but the tasks are mostly small things. It's been hard getting things done because Matt and Jeanie keep coming and going from my apartment. I just need a day alone to get things done! Maybe it'll happen tomorrow? I usually get more things done late at night anyway, so I can only hope that's what...
