Work Outfit: Flamingo Print Bow Neck Top and Black Zipper Detail Pencil Skirt

Image
It's been a while since I shared a work outfit with you but here's a pretty fun one featuring a flamingo print shirt. I was in the midst of preparing for our vacation in Las Vegas so the flamingos were reflective of that! This shirt from Shein isn't the best quality but the print is really cute and it looked good with my stretchy Forever 21 pencil skirt. I always feel like bodycon stuff looks so much better on me in real life than in pictures but oh well! I'm posting these anyway. Some of that may stem from the fact that I don't have a classic hourglass shape. My hips are very narrow and today I learned I have a trending body part: hip dips ! (Where there's an indentation where your hips meet your thighs .) Apparently that's something I'm supposed to reclaim and embrace. I'm pretty sure my sister and I just called them anti-hips but it is kind of nice to know it's a semi-normal thing! There'll be another weird body thing trending in a...

Outfit: Striped Mock Turtleneck and Maroon Skater Skirt

Image
You guys. This is the last set of outfit pictures I have with my red hair, so please enjoy. [Edit: Nevermind. Just found another set.] I love the red but I needed a change! This outfit is also incredibly summery, but I guess that's okay with the unseasonably warm weather that's been going on in the US lately. This is the last warm weather look you'll see from me this year! I'd still wear this skirt and top in our Georgia fall with a pair of tights, a cardigan, and flat black boots. It's all about remixing for different seasons! Especially when half of my wardrobe is in a storage unit. top: c/o boohoo | skirt: h&M | earrings: target | sandals: modcloth | glasses: zenni optical Now that I've thrilled you with talk about my outfit, how is your fall going so far? Mine is getting pretty exciting/busy with the beginning of wedding planning all while the usual work stuff is going on. Matt and I even looked at a venue this weekend. It's getting real!...

Outfit: Futurama Cat Pin, Dotted Crop Top, Colorful Skater Skirt, and Black Sneakers

Image
I must be on a colorful skater skirt kick lately, so I apologize, but here's another outfit featuring one I've had for quite a while but don't wear nearly enough. In my previous outfit post I styled a colorful skater skirt for work , so here's an outfit I definitely wouldn't wear to work featuring a short skirt and crop top combination. It's perfect for these hot days we're still having in Georgia. The true star of this outfit is my awesome cat Leela pin from Danielle V Green Illustrations. She has a whole Halloween cat line with cats dressed as various characters. I love them so much. I bought two others that you'll see here at some point too - cat Ariel and cat Scully. I keep wearing them to work. I don't even care if people start thinking I'm weird. I like my cat pins to be dressed as my favorite pop culture characters!  Anyway, I played off the Leela pin and wore some purple socks (to match her hair.) I also enjoyed the combinati...

Outfit: Flamingo Print Bow Blouse and Light Green Scalloped Shorts

It's time for a super summery outfit here on the blog so here's this one! I've actually worn this flamingo print top from Shein a couple different ways but hadn't photographed it yet. This may be my favorite way I've worn it, paired with my light green scalloped shorts from Forever 21 and a pair of clear, studded sandals from Boohoo. It looks pretty cool with my lime green cardigan too, though... This top has such a cute print and was incredibly inexpensive but you can definitely tell it's cheaply made. The thing that bothers me most is the darts on the bust aren't in the right place. It's fine for what it is though. I've had some nice pieces from those cheapy online shops like Shein, but you always have the possibility that something will be off in the clothes you buy from them. I've been covering the weirdly placed darts with cardigans most time I wear this, but this time it was just too hot for that. It's not too noticeable, I h...

Outfit: Polka Dot Crop Top, Maroon Skater Skirt, and Pointed Cutout Ankle Boots

Image
This was one of those "fall" outfits I put together before the weather actually started to cool down. Luckily we're looking at nice cool temperatures this weekend and next week, but before that I had to go with bare arms and legs with fall colors and boots. I wore this walking around the Old Fourth Ward Fall Festival last month so I had to stay cool outside while wrangling an energetic puppy. I've worn this top and skirt together before but never photographed it. Something about black and maroon just works perfectly. I paired my polka dot top and trusty maroon skirt with some cutout ankle boots from Boohoo (which are still a favorite of mine due to their comfort and super cool-ness) and a crystal necklace I won from a giveaway years ago and therefore can't remember where it was actually from. Sorry! You get some bonus cute pictures of Riker in this post too. He's 5 1/2 months old now and weighs in at 40lbs. Maybe I'll get to a Riker update post...

Outfit: Pink Pencil Skirt, Blue Anchor Print Top, Mint Green Satchel, and White Sandals

Image
Have you ever put together an outfit and then taken a step back to bask in the glory of your color mixing skills? No? Well then never mind; neither do I.  I do have to admit I'm kind of in love with the color mixing going on in this look though. I picked up this cute anchor print top from a Modcloth sale a few weeks back. I couldn't resist the vibrant blue mixed with the anchor print. Although I'm not a huge fan of beaches, I do enjoy a good nautical-inspired clothing item. Instead of pairing it with the usual red, I went with this pink linen pencil skirt I thrifted many moons ago. I always wonder why I don't wear it all that often, but whenever I put it on again I'm reassured that it's a good thing I've held on to it for so long.  For accessories, I grabbed the mint green Brit-stitch bag Modcloth sent to me a month or so ago because the colors all play together so nicely. The white sunglasses were a Walmart clearance find years ago and the sand...

Outfit: Mint Green Satchel, Donut Print Bodysuit, and White High Waisted Jeans

Image
I wore this pastel-colored outfit over the weekend because I probably shouldn't wear donut print to work (though it's not out of the question). I don't own a lot of pastel colors so when I wear them I have the urge to find all the pastel things I own and put them together. Does anyone else do that? Modcloth sent me this awesome mint green Brit-Stitch satchel bag and the first thing I thought to pair with it was my donut print bodysuit. The green frosted donut nearly perfectly matches this purse! Then I added some very 80s-looking white jeans with my blue wedges and some white sunglasses.  bodysuit: forever 21 | jeans: c/o boohoo | shoes: xappeal - shoe carnival | sunglasses: walmart | have style, will travel bag in mint - c/o modcloth This purse Modcloth sent me is so high quality I'm in love. It's entirely leather and feels like it won't fall apart after using it a few months. This was a bit of a surprise collaboration to me too! I contribu...

Outfit: Khaki Green Jeans, Floral Blouse, and Brown Wedge Sandals

Image
Happy Monday everyone! I know some of you aren't particularly interested in more casual outfits like this, but I just got these green jeans and wanted to share them with you. I try really hard to style jeans in a non-boring way so I hope this doesn't bore you too much. I love these new khaki green jeans though. I can't get enough of olive green shades lately so when these jeans fit so well they needed to become part of my wardrobe. I enjoy the zipper pocket detail and the seam down the back. For their first day out I paired them with a floral hand-me-down top and some brown wedge sandals. It was a great summer to fall transitional outfit. This outfit would be perfect for a warm spring day too though! jeans: new york & co. | top: hand-me-down forever 21 | wedges: forever 21 | earrings: forever 21? So what do you think about my new jeans? They should be really versatile. How would you style them for cooler weather? I keep thinking about wearing them with a...

Outfit: Colorful Sea Print Skirt, Pink Sleeveless Turtleneck, & Yellow Wedges

Image
Happy Monday everyone! Here's a colorful outfit I wore a couple weeks ago. I wanted to style my new sleeveless turtleneck from Boohoo and when I glanced over at this fun skirt I knew I'd found a perfect pairing. Mom made this skirt for me a couple years ago and it doesn't get worn nearly enough. I guess there are only so many ways to wear a crazy print like this. I enjoyed the lack of neutral colors in this outfit though. It turned out extremely summery!  top: boohoo | skirt: handmade | wedges: target | bow: handmade You should've seen me trying to take these pictures. It was partly cloudy and I kept trying to time the shots with the cloud cover but almost every time I went to press the remote the clouds moved. So of course my color balance changed every time the clouds parted and awful harsh direct sun lighting is never good. Luckily I got a few decent shots anyway! It was pretty sweltering and humid out there though! Did you guys have a good weekend? ...
