Outfit: Star Trek Matching Set with Blue Flats and a Bouffant

Image
top, skirt: handmade | shoes: delia's | earrings: dragon con 2014 I know I wore this Star Trek matching set to Dragon Con last year, but I just had to put it back on for Dragon Con 2015. Mom made it for me and it's one of my favorite outfits I own. I especially enjoy that the skirt and top can be worn separately too. I've definitely gotten plenty of use out of the skirt because the pattern pairs with pretty much any other color. The top gets less wear because I have to wear a sticky bra with it and ain't nobody got time for that - most days. This was my outfit for the last day of Dragon Con, which is probably the saddest day because everyone's packing to leave and most of the panels are finished. The crowds are 1/10th of their former ridiculousness. We still headed down there for more people watching and to eat lunch though. I'm already looking forward to next year! Anyway, I hope you're all having a fantastic week so far and had a great we...

Outfit: Star Trek Ship Tank Top, Blue Skater Skirt, and Silver Heels

Image
Here's a little fun weekend outfit for you today! I picked up some clearance stuff on Forever21.com a while back and magically everything I bought looked good together. I just couldn't resist these 90s-tastic silver heels. They remind me of the Spice Girls. I definitely need to get some more wear out of these shoes before it's tights weather. Living in Georgia, that'll be a while longer, so I guess that's one positive thing about fall taking so terribly long to arrive (and stay). I also couldn't resist picking up another Star Trek muscle tee. It has all of the different star ships from various Star Trek series and shirts like this are so comfy. They perfectly shift over to loungewear after a long day! The blue textured skater skirt is new too. Can you really ever have too many skater skirts? Speaking of new-to-my-wardrobe clothes, I really need to go thrifting again soon. Then again, pulling out all my cool-weather clothes is like Christmas to me. I have s...

Outfit: White Mock Neck Top, Colorful Star Trek Skirt, and White Sandals

Image
This pleated Star Trek skirt may be my favorite skirt in my closet. It's both super colorful - so it goes with a billion different tops - and geeky. Though I'm a bigger fan of Star Trek: TNG, I do enjoy original Star Trek too! This skirt is part of a matching set I wore to Dragon Con last year. My mom made it for me so it's one-of-a-kind. I'm going to need to wear the pieces together again before it's an inappropriate season to wear a crop top with a cutout in the front. (The temperature here is fine for crop tops well into October most of the time though!) Anyway, I actually wore this to work on one of our casual days. I paired the skirt with my new white mock turtleneck top and a pair of comfortable white sandals. I usually don't wear a whole lot of white, but I loved how the white top and sandals looked against the bold skirt. What do you think? (I must just be really really happy about my Star Trek skirt. This is how it makes me feel.) ski...

Outfit: Star Trek Skirt, Black Mock Neck Sweater, and Red Tights

Image
This is one of my favorite outfits in a long time. In fact, I enjoyed wearing it so much I packed it up to come with me while visiting family! Sometimes I like to pack outfits I've already worn and know look good. That way I don't have to come up with an entire trip's worth of new outfits in one night. There can only be so much outfit creativity in one day! Anyway, I wore this on a regular old day. I'd been meaning to wear my Star Trek skirt with red tights and finally got around to it. I have a feeling many other colorful tights will look fantastic with this skirt too! I enjoyed how great all the black pieces in this outfit looked with the colorful tights and skirt. Since breaking out my box full of sweaters I have so many more shirt options. This black mock turtleneck sweater is a favorite thrifted last year. It was a little bit toasty the day I wore this though. I've been searching for a regular t-shirt version of this top for weeks. It would be a little less ...

A Stop in Metropolis, IL and a Comfy Traveling Outfit

Image
Happy Tuesday everyone! It's time to show you some pictures from our stop in Metropolis, Illinois and the comfy outfit I wore driving that day. We finally decided to stop and see the giant Superman statue! We've driven by the town 1-2 times a year since I can remember and have never stopped so it was about time. It was a cute little town but the main draw was the colorful Superman stuff. It really stood out against the dreary, sprinkling weather. We only stayed a half hour but it was fun to take a few touristy pictures. jeans: new york and company | top: forever 21 | cardigan: thrifted (originally from target) | shoes: korks - shoe carnival Looking back at these pictures I'm realizing how much I love how this outfit turned out. It was kind of thrown together, mixing comfortable items for a cozy drive. The combination of khaki green and yellow just works! Plus any outfit with my Star Trek shirt is an A+ in my book, despite it being kind of inappropriate in a town...

Outfit: Acid Wash Skinny Jeans, Polka Dot Top, Blue Cardigan, & a Black Boater Hat

Image
Happy Monday everyone! It's a new week, summer is officially over, and here I am pretending it feels like fall. I just really wanted to wear jeans! This outfit was comfortable enough for a few minutes out in the heat though. My upper stomach could feel the fresh air so I guess that was my air conditioning. Do you guys like my new hat? I ordered it during a Nasty Gal sale. I figured it's black so I can get away with wearing it in the cooler months but it's straw so it'll be fine to wear in the heat too! Win win! I really love wearing hats but I forget to wear them. I have a decent amount of them too. It's a shame to let them sit there unworn so I've been trying to plan outfits around them. jeans: boohoo | top: forever 21 | cardigan: target | wedges: y not? - shoe carnival | necklace - dragon con | hat: nasty gal I feel like I always talk about the weekend on here, but oh well. There's not a whole lot going on in my life right now! I had a good ...

Dragon Con Outfit: Star Trek Print Matching Separates and Blue Wedges

Image
This is my last Dragon Con related post this year, I promise! I wore this Star Trek print matching set the first day so I was able to take proper pictures of it at home before leaving. It was, of course, handmade by my mom because she's a wizard. She found this fabric and decided I needed a matching set. Who can argue with that? Matching separates are basically my favorite things lately. I'm sure you'll be seeing me style these pieces separately too! So what do you think? I love this set! The top is different from other shirts I own. The cutout in the front is really neat and I love the back of it too.  Unfortunately I have to wear those sticky bra things with it because a normal bra shows through the cutout. The one I have is pretty comfy though so I was comfortable wearing this outfit all day. Plenty of people positively commented on my "dress" at Dragon Con too. Hooray for having a one-of-a-kind outfit! star trek set: handmade | shoes: xappeal - rack roo...

Dragon Con 2014: Blue Star Trek Uniform Costume

Image
Happy Monday everyone! Well, as happy as a Monday can be. At least I have fantastic Star Trek costumes to show you today. My mom and I had matching Star Trek: The Original Series science officer uniforms for Dragon Con. She made them, of course. The crushed velvet was pretty sweltering in the 90 degree heat but at least the hotels were air conditioned once we got there.  I don't really have anything particularly exciting to go on about today. I had a weekend full of sitting on the couch and sifting through many lists of jobs I'm apparently unqualified for. We did  make it out to Athens for a little bit on Friday to go to Terrapin Brewery's PumpkinFest day where they released their fall beers. It's a little strange to be drinking fall beer when it's 85 degrees out, but that's Georgia! Did you guys have a good weekend? Do anything fun? Tell me so I can live vicariously through you. Have a great rest of your day!
