This pleated Star Trek skirt may be my favorite skirt in my closet. It's both super colorful - so it goes with a billion different tops - and geeky. Though I'm a bigger fan of Star Trek: TNG, I do enjoy original Star Trek too! This skirt is part of a matching set I wore to Dragon Con last year. My mom made it for me so it's one-of-a-kind. I'm going to need to wear the pieces together again before it's an inappropriate season to wear a crop top with a cutout in the front. (The temperature here is fine for crop tops well into October most of the time though!)

Anyway, I actually wore this to work on one of our casual days. I paired the skirt with my new white mock turtleneck top and a pair of comfortable white sandals. I usually don't wear a whole lot of white, but I loved how the white top and sandals looked against the bold skirt. What do you think?

Speaking of Star Trek, Matt and I are getting a dog this weekend and may be naming it a Star Trek character name... Because we wanted a somewhat geeky name that's not over-used. Stay tuned for that!

I'm super pumped for the weekend and am hoping I'll have time to catch up on the blogosphere. I miss doing my monthly favorites features and have been feeling bad about missing them, so I'm figuring out a way to bring them back! It's just been a hectic past couple of months with moving out and working and generally trying to be a functioning adult. So please let me know if you miss the monthly favorites feature too and anything else you'd like to see from me in the upcoming months!

That skirt is so fantastic! I really can't wait to make more unique nerdy skirts (next on my list is Doctor Who) once I have time to sew! Which... with the baby due anytime, might not be for a while. But I'm determined to find a way somehow!

I like all of the white with the outfit, I think it works really well! And I totally understand not being around on the blogosphere; I've been posting, but my time is gone by the time I'm done and I can't read or comment as much as I wish I could! Taking advantage of pre-newborn days to catch up here and there!

And I think it looks amazing with the white - it makes the skirt pop more.

On the internet, I see crop tops with a jacket all winter long, but I do agree it would be a strange sight to see in real life. So I'm glad you can enjoy it while it's still humid and hot as heck! That skirt is seriously precious.

Botanical Fun

These pictures are from my outing to The State Botanical Garden of Georgia, which just so happens to be conveniently located about 8 minutes from my apartment. There were still a nice amount of flowers blooming so it was really pretty. I decided I needed to get more wears out of my pretty Steal the Game Show dress from Modcloth so I took some inspiration from other bloggers and wore it as a skirt! I actually really liked how this outfit turned out. ...be it! I love a good performance of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. We went to see the live shadow cast Lips Down on Dixie perform at the Plaza Theatre in Atlanta. It was awesome, as always! This is Jeanie and her friend Leslie before they got their lipstick Rocky virgin V's on their foreheads. Leslie even got the honor of holding the criminologist's book during a part of the show. Pretty ballin'. Butt shot! Yes, those are heels I have on with leopard print pajamas. It was a take on Columbia in the touch-a touch me scene. The real pj's are stripes, but this is what I had! I did have the mickey ears and crazy makeup though, so it counts. [How fun would it be to wear one of those costumes for Halloween?] I always enjoy this show.
