Petite Panoply

It's been a while since I did a makeup post, so I decided to put together a fall look using my new Urban Decay Vice 2 palette. There are a ton of fall-appropriate colors in that palette and I've been enjoying using all the pretty colors. There's such a great mix of neutrals and color in this palette. I'm so glad I bought it for myself for my birthday! This eye makeup is really appropriate for school or work because it's not overly dark. I even used a brown liquid liner to lighten it up even more. I'm really loving this OCC Lip Tar in Memento as a natural-looking pink shade too.  I achieved this eye look by patting Strike (a light gold) in the center of my lid and then shaping Stash (olive green) in the inner and outer corners of my eye and in the crease. I blended the olive green out with Toxic (goldish rose) and patted a little bit of Damaged (deep green) in the outer corner. I haven't done a makeup post in a while, so here's the blue eyeshadow look I wore with my black polka dot dress a couple outfit posts back! I just smudged an Urban Decay eyeliner pencil over about half of the lid and blended it out with another lighter blue shade. I smudged the blue eyeshadow underneath my eye and put a little e.l.f. silver liquid liner in the inner corners. Then it needed a very thin line of black liquid eyeliner. My lips just have a nude-colored gloss on them. I'm not usually a gloss girl, but it was kind of necessary with such bold eyeshadow. (Ah my face is scary big here!) Hooray! Happy Sunday! Happy Sunday! Here's a 60s-inspired look I did a couple weeks back. It's a neutral smoked out cut crease with black winged liner and white liner on the inner bottom rims.  How I did it: This look is primarily made with the Urban Decay Naked Palette and their 24/7 Eyeliner Pencil in Smog. I put the lightest shade, Virgin, all over the lid and inner corner. Then I drew a line all along the crease with the Smog liner. Next I took the same shade, Smog, from the palette and blended out the line. I may have patted Toasted on my lid after that but I can't remember. I smudged some Smog underneath my eyelids and Virgin on my brow bone too. Then I used black liquid liner on the top lid (that I was running out of so it looks crappy - sorry) and lined my bottom waterline with NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk. Happy Sunday! I wanted to figure out a way to wear the bright matte blue shade, Chaos, in Urban Decay's Vice Palette. (I wore this makeup with this floral shorts outfit .) The shade is a little tricky to work with because it's matte, but it's such a cool color! I used xSparkage's tutorial featuring Chaos as a guide to get this shade to look as nice as possible. I followed her instructions to pack the color onto the lid to make it vibrant. Using NYX jumbo eyeshadow pencil in milk definitely helped Chaos apply easier. This is a go-to makeup look for me when I want to wear eye shadow. I don't have to think about the makeup clashing with the rest of my look because it's neutral. Plus it's really quick for days when I don't have much time to get ready. It also looks really nice with both red and pink lip colors! I mostly used Urban Decay's Naked 2 palette because it has some cooler-toned shades including a really pretty silvery color called Verve. These silver gray colors look great on anybody so I figured this was a look all of you could recreate if you wanted! I felt like playing with makeup yesterday, so I threw together a look featuring the bright pink color, Noise, in my Urban Decay Vice Palette. I was trying to figure out a way to make that shade wearable! The last thing I wanted was to look like I had an eye infection and you run that risk when messing with bright pink eye shadow. Luckily, I think this worked! Happy Monday everyone and happy winter break to me! Everyone is making Christmas wishlists, so I had to jump on the bandwagon. Oddly, mine is not filled with clothes this year. Though I wouldn't be unhappy with more clothes... Anyway, here it is. 1. A Burr Coffee Grinder  (like this Cuisinart burr grinder that's on sale)- because I've been enjoying making French presses lately and the more uniform grind would be better for that. 2. I'd been wanting to buy an Urban Decay Naked eye shadow palette for quite a while, but had no idea which one to choose. I ended up getting both of them. (I needed a present from myself for my birthday, right?) When I was researching which one to buy there weren't a whole lot of people comparing them, so I figured I'd do just that! Let's start with the important stuff - the colors! Naked 1 has a generally warmer tone than Naked 2. The colors are more gold/brown. Naked 2 includes more taupe shades. I don't think there is as much of a difference in tone as others have said though. Naked 2 does have a nice dark black that Naked 1 lacks. There's a good range of shadow types in both palettes from matte to sparkle. I kind of wish there were more matte shades in each, but with both palettes there's 5 total which is workable.  Naked 1 has a noticeably larger range from dark to light though.
