Outfit: Heart Print Tights, Food Pins, Red Dress, and Loafer Heels

Image
Happy almost Valentine's Day to you! In honor of the day of "wuv" I broke out a couple of old favorites to wear: this red peter pan collar dress from Modcloth and some heart print sweater tights from Forever 21. This dress, although cute, has seen better days. Something about the fabric makes it super easy to pill up so that's happening all over the place. It's sad because it's a really cute dress and comfortable too. I'm afraid it might need to be retired soon - but not until I try some remedies to reduce the pilling. The highlight of this look is my super cool food-themed pins. I actually wore this last Friday on National Pizza Day, hence the pizza pin. Also it was Friday - hence the fries. The fries pin was lovingly bestowed upon me by a new coworker and is a very welcome addition to my increasing quirky pin collection. My other accessories are thrifted. A belt thrifted long ago that I wear practically bi-weekly and a pair of loafer heels I ...

Work Outfit: Sky Blue Lace Dress, Pink Cardigan, and Holographic Flats

Image
I'm so in love with this little pink cropped cardigan I ordered off of Amazon. It's the absolute perfect length on my short torso and a nice, soft, stretchy knit. From what I read, it's the same cardigan as the Modcloth Dream of the Crop cardigan , except it's available in more colors on Amazon (and cheaper.) I may even pick up some more colors in the near future! I just can't believe I have tons of cardigans and had no pink one until now.  I wore it to work for it's first day out, paired with my light blue lace dress from Forever 21 clearance, a black and gold flower necklace, and my holographic peep toe flats. I've been wearing the shoes I can't really walk long distances in now that I'm driving to work again. These flats are comfortable enough, but for some reason the top part rubs the top of one of my toes on one foot so they're not good for distance. It's unfortunate because they're pretty cool! dress, necklace, shoes: fo...

Outfit: Floral and Bow Print Dress, Teal Cardigan, Blue Flats, and Retro Hair

Image
Happy Easter to all of you who celebrate! I wanted to post a particularly spring-y outfit to mark such a spring-tastic holiday. I wore this floral and bow print Pepaloves dress to work just the other day. It's one of those dresses I really love but don't wear super often. Maybe it's because it seems so memorable people might notice if I wore it all the time? Or maybe I just need to find more cropped cardigans so I can wear it with more colors. A nice pink one would be good... Anyway, I paired it with my teal cropped cardigan from Delia's (which is really the perfect cropped cardigan for me) and my pointed royal blue flats. I've been putting my hair up again more often so it's in this slightly messy bouffant with flower hair clips to match the dress. It's funny how I was pretty decent at getting my hair in a bouffant before I cut my hair super short two years ago. Then once it grew out again I had to relearn. There were a couple mornings I spent ...

Outfit: Futurama Tank Top, Mustard Cardigan, Corduroy Shorts, and Red Tights

Image
I don't own nearly enough Futurama clothing or accessories for it being my absolute favorite TV show of all time. So when I saw this Planet Express tank top on Look Human, I had to have it. First of all, it's super comfy and can be worn for lounging or actual leaving-the-house activities. Second, it shrunk to the perfect size after washing. You can probably tell here that the straps were too long the first time I wore it. I'm glad I threw it through the dryer before taking them up because it's an 100% perfect fit now. For its first day out I paired it with some bright colors: my mustard yellow cardigan and a pair of bold red tights. The brights were balanced out by my black corduroy shorts and a pair of patent mary jane flats from Modcloth. Just a comfortable weekend outfit and a welcome reunion with these high-waisted shorts I hadn't worn in much too long. I love getting back in my comfy high-waisted shorts that I used to wear so often back in college...

Outfit: Light Blue Lace Dress with Purple Tights and Colorful Snakeskin Flats

Image
Happy Presidents Day to all my American readers. I enjoyed a nice day off today which wasn't highly relaxing but was still good. I'm happy to show you a brand new outfit post this evening. I liked this outfit so much I wore it twice already! There's something about the light blue dress with these purple tights that works so wonderfully. Add in the ridiculously busy yet awesome snakeskin flats and it's a perfect outfit. (At least I think so!) I picked up this little light blue lace dress from a Forever 21 sale. It's sheer in the back and I'm excited to style it in the summer time too. But for now it looks great - and more work appropriate - with a black cropped cardigan. The flats keep it a little more okay for work too since it is  a little bit short. My butt is covered though and that's the most important thing, right? dress: forever 21 | tights: kmart | cardigan: old navy | shoes: journeys So how was your weekend? I spent some time with fami...

Outfit: Fall-Colored Chevron Dress, Dark Green Tights, and a Red Short Sleeved Cardigan

Image
dress: modcloth | cardigan: ann taylor - thrifted | tights, shoes: forever 21 You most certainly can wear red and green without looking like Christmas threw up on you! The trick is using shades of red and green that aren't pure bright versions and instead using muted shades or jewel tones. Mixing in other colors helps too. My dress here includes red and green, but also gold, maroon, tan, and cream which draws away from the traditionally Christmas-tastic color pairing. Because of the many colors in this dress it goes with a ton of different tights and cardigan combinations too. It's one of my favorites in the fall because the colors match the trees. This time I styled it with a pair of very dark green tights, a short sleeved red cardigan I thrifted a couple years ago, and some brown high heeled oxfords that turned out to be way comfier than I remembered. I figured it was about time I showed you this super autumnal outfit before it's officially winter! What do yo...

Work Outfit: Polka Dot Shift Dress, Teal Cardigan, and a Tree Branch Statement Necklace

Image
Happy happy Monday! Well, it might not be that happy but we can pretend. I wore this polka dot shift dress to work over a month ago and am just now getting to posting it. This is a dress I've had since high school and it's still around. I think it was one of my fancier pieces back in the days of low rise skinny jeans and graphic t-shirts, and it happened to stick around all these years. It is a classic piece, after all (and it does make me happy that I'm the same size I was in high school.) My little polka dot dress turned out to be a great work piece paired with a colorful cardigan and some cute shoes. I added a statement necklace Happiness Boutique sent me over the summer for some extra interest.  dress: forever 21 | cardigan: delia's | shoes: steve madden - shoe carnival | necklace: c/o happiness boutique Over the weekend I mostly caught up with all of your blogs and it made me so happy. I've been behind most of the year and especially since we got ...

Work Outfit: Red Modcloth Sheath Dress, Zebra Print Cardigan, and Tan Peeptoe Heels

Image
In case you didn't know, Modcloth released their own line of Modcloth-branded designs last week. The line is filled with classic pieces with cute details like scalloped collars, bows, and ruffles. I was chosen as one of the lucky people to help show off one of their new pieces because the designs were inspired by their Style Gallery users. (I was so so excited!) They sent me this completely work appropriate and flattering bright red dress. As you probably know, I really love to wear red with my red hair , so it's a perfect dress for me! The My Byline of Work Dress seems very well made and sturdy. It's a slightly stretchy knit, but not the type that pills up after one wear. (Hooray!) The ruffled detailing at the bottom makes it more special than a regular sheath dress and makes it particularly fun to walk in since the ruffles wave around. It even has pockets for those cold days ahead (soon please?) when I need to keep my hands warm on the way to work. Unfortunately...

Work Outfit: Navy Sailor Pants, Red Short Sleeved Cardigan, Floral Print Top, and Tan Tassel Loafers

Image
Happy happy Friday to you! Do you suffer from freezing office when it's burning hot outside too? Well, my current office isn't as cold as school was or my previous office was, but it can still be chilly. Wearing trousers keeps my legs protected from the air conditioning so I'm glad I have a few pairs of cute ones. These sailor pants are light enough to keep me from having heat stroke on my walk to work but keep me warm in the office. Win win! For this work outfit I added a floral print top to my skinny sailor trousers and threw on a short sleeved cardigan for extra color. I finally put some of those back-of-the-ankle cushions on my little tan loafers to keep them from tearing up my ankles too, so here they are! I'm excited to wear them more often now. cardigan: ann taylor - thrifted | pants, top: forever 21 | loafers: xappeal - rack room shoes I'm so happy it's the weekend. I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and not having any big p...

Outfit: Blue Striped Shift Dress, Red Cardigan, and Gold Glitter Loafers

Image
Happy Fourth of July weekend to all of my American readers! I have a wonderful 3 day weekend so I have the day off to spend with Matt. We're headed down to Cumberland island for an overnight trip and then back home for some sort of festivities. I'm looking forward to taking some pretty pictures down by the coast of Georgia. Perhaps I'll share some with you! Anyway, this outfit is pretty patriotic-looking to me so I figured it was a good one to share for this holiday weekend. I wear a lot of red, white, and blue because I love how those colors pair together. The nautical vibe is perfect for summertime - not that I don't wear nautical-inspired outfits at other times of the year too. This striped shift dress was from the kids' section at Walmart and I had to get it because it was such a comfy basic piece. I paired a red boyfriend cardigan with it and my sparkly gold glitter loafers.  dress: walmart | cardigan: forever 21 | loafers: target | necklace: gre...

Work Outfit: Bow Print Dress, Pink Short Sleeved Cardigan, White Sandals, and a Bouffant

Image
As you can probably tell, I've been experimenting with some photo locations since I moved. I tried with these but my balcony really isn't large enough for outfit photos! These turned out okay though and they're something different.  I wore this little bow print dress to work the other day. It's the one I bought from the kids' section of Target. (Hooray for being small enough for that! Though it's imperative that an adult shopping in the kids' section can tell the difference between things that could possibly be made for an adult and things that are clearly for humans under 10-years-old. I believe I have the ability to make that judgment.) I paired the dress with a short sleeved cardigan for some color and my white sandals from Boohoo. And look! Another super messy bouffant because why not? dress: target | cardigan: forever 21 | sandals: boohoo | hair bow: handmade | glasses: zenni optical | earrings: great grandma's? So how is your week...
