Outfit: Concert Tee, Black Denim Mini Skirt, Pink Tights, and White Converse

Image
Here I am wearing a concert t-shirt again. At this point I'm not sure I'll ever stop wearing them. Maybe when I'm 70 I won't wear them with bright pink tights and white wedge Converse, but really, who knows? Maybe we'll all be dressing like Zenon : Girl of the 21st Century by then. (I can only hope.) And if I really take a look at this outfit, all I need is a colorful vest and I may as well have come off the space station. They really liked vests in that movie. I guess they don't need sleeves when everything's climate controlled? It is, however, not climate controlled outside in Atlanta. These pictures are from a couple months ago but it still hasn't reliably warmed up here yet. Also, my hair is now completely different since I had it chopped off again into an asymmetrical pixie a couple weeks ago. If you haven't seen it, check out my Instagram page! t-shirt: The Killers concert | skirt: h&m | tights: kmart | shoes: converse.com |...

Outfit: Ruffled Blouse, Denim A-Line Skirt, and Red Pom Pom Flats

Image
It's beginning to feel like the wheel of hair colors around here. By the time I get a chance to take new outfit photos, my hair has changed color from the last post! Even these pictures from last month are outdated as far as my hair goes! Right this moment it's a shade of gray since it's about time to start phasing out the pink in time for the wedding (and I'd like it blonde for a couple Dragon Con costumes.) I've really enjoyed all the different colors over the past few months though.  Now about the outfit: The red pom pom flats are clearly the star of the show here. I ordered them online at Forever 21 during a BOGO clearance sale since I couldn't resist the colorful pom poms. They worked perfectly with a go-to denim button down skirt and a white blouse. Those simple pieces let the shoes steal the spotlight in a good way. They also kept the denim skirt/white blouse combo from looking too country - a style that's just not my thing. top, shoes: ...

Outfit: Denim Button Down Skirt, Red Striped Shirt, and Silver Sandals

Image
One of my favorite color combinations to wear in the summer is red, white and blue - which is especially perfect around Independence Day! I wore this simple outfit over the weekend to a trip to a dog park, to the mall, and to see the new Legend of Tarzan movie (which I thoroughly enjoyed.)  I've been feeling wearing denim much more often, especially when paired with a good striped shirt. Sometimes it's nice to keep things simple and classic. I still have some fun going on with the silver shoes and red sunglasses, but a striped shirt and denim pairing is a time-honored look. And for a reason! It looks good and never goes out of style. When wearing classic combinations, it's just good to keep your denim pieces somewhat up to date to keep from looking frumpy or out of style.  This skirt was an ASOS find late last year and I've gotten a ton of use out of it. It may be in my bag to take on our trip to Europe later this year because it goes with everything and is...

Remix: Light Blue Denim Pinafore

Image
This little light blue denim pinafore dress from Forever 21 has been in my wardrobe since 2011 when overalls and pinafores weren't all that popular. Now I see overalls all over the place, although I think they're still gaining momentum. I did buy this in the height of the "chambray" craze though. It's a nice, breezy material for the many warm weather months we have here in Georgia. Plus I think the little leafy print on it makes it just a little bit different from other pinafores I've seen.  As you can see, I pretty much have only worn it when it's hot outside, but I think I've done a decent job of styling it a bunch of different ways. One of my favorites is number 1, where I tucked in the top part to make it a denim skirt. I enjoy it best when I have some pattern mixing going on too, so number 2 is another personal favorite. It's just as easy to pair this type of piece with a simple black tank top though!  One | Two Three | Four Fiv...

Outfit: Hot Pink Laser Cut Crop Top, White Skinny Jeans, and Floral Wedges

Image
I don't think you can go wrong with a good crop top and high waisted jeans combination when it's warm outside, although it may have been a bit toasty for jeans when I wore this. I picked up these bright white skinny jeans from Boohoo recently. They're labeled as mid rise, but they're most definitely high rise on my body and on the picture online. If you're going to pick up a pair, I might recommend sizing down because they're extra stretchy which means they're extra comfy but might fall down a little without a belt. Anyway, when Tobi sent me this hot pink crop top I knew it would pair perfectly with my new white jeans. Hot pink and white is just a winning color combination! Very Legally Blonde - except I have red hair. I don't own nearly enough pink clothing so I was super pumped to get this top with its fantastic laser cutout sleeves. It's a perfect cropped length on me and a sturdy material with a zip down the back. Bonus: It's on clea...

Outfit: Light Blue Pinafore Dress, Red Top, and White Sandals

Image
I've had this chambray overall dress for quite a few years now, but finally had the straps taken up so I didn't have to safety pin them shorter anymore. I enjoy a good overall even if it can look a little twee. I usually get plenty of positive comments on this pinafore dress though so I guess I'm not too old to rock one.  This entire outfit takes me back to childhood because I'm pretty sure I wore a red shirt, overalls, and white shoes combination when I was a little kid. (I wish I could dig up the picture to compare.) It's a pretty solid combination if I do say so myself. So solid I wore it the other day and was very pleasantly surprised at how much I loved the outfit. What do you think? Would you/have you rocked overalls or pinafore-like things in your adulthood? top: thrifted | pinafore dress: forever 21 | shoes: boohoo On a non-outfit-related note: Can we talk for a minute about the oxford comma? I love the oxford comma. It just makes sense....

Outfit: High Waisted Bell Bottoms, Donut Print T-shirt, and a Black Leather Jacket

Image
Even though a lot of style bloggers never show outfits with jeans, I think it's possible to put together an interesting, share-worthy outfit with them. These dark wash, high-waisted bell bottom jeans were ordered from OldNavy.com about a year ago and unfortunately they don't carry them anymore. If you're very short, it's 100% necessary to buy petite bell bottoms or else you cut off most of the bell part hemming them. These were a perfect find for me and I wear them pretty often, especially to work with various blouses. I should've bought two pairs they're so perfect! This was a casual weekend outfit though. I like the updated 70s vibes going on. I styled my jeans with a donut print graphic t-shirt (which was a Secret Santa gift), my incredibly useful faux leather jacket, comfy wedge boots, and a pair of gold hoop earrings.  What do you think? Have you found any petite bell bottoms lately? I think they're a nice way to switch things up in the deni...

Outfit: Seafoam Cable Knit Sweater over a Flannel Top, Denim Button Down Skirt, and Blue Tights

Image
Happy Leap Day to you! Now that it's nearly March I figure I better show you this layer-tastic outfit from January before you're all completely sick of cool weather looks. I'm just a bit behind in my backlog of outfits. I really enjoyed the layering and colors in this look though.  I enjoy the cable knit sweaters I own but I do find them a little bulky, especially when I want to layer a shirt underneath. Tucking in my tops ensures I'm proportioned well without having to cut length off of all my shirts, which would be pretty difficult for sweaters. So, to get to the point, I was feeling a little bulky here, but still cute so it's okay. I layered a go-to flannel shirt under my blue-green sweater and added a cool vintage pin which I think was my Great Grandma's. This ASOS denim skirt has been getting plenty of wear lately because it's neutral and goes with pretty much everything, so I threw it on too. (Please excuse the wrinkles. I was sitting at wo...

Outfit: Tacky Green Penguin Sweater, Black Leather Jacket, and a Denim Button Down Skirt

Image
I apologize for the crappy hallway shots but I couldn't resist quickly taking pictures of this outfit before it was dark outside. This sweater is another one I found in the kids' section at Target. It's super comfy and just the right size. I think the penguins are super cute and I always enjoy shades of green paired with my red hair. For my penguin sweater's debut, I added a new button down skirt from ASOS - which is really quite a sturdy denim - and a new pair of wedge ankle boots. I didn't need another pair of black ankle boots but for some reason I couldn't resist these. They turned out to be incredibly comfortable too, which is always a great surprise because you never really know when a pair of shoes will be super comfy until you've bought them.  jacket: ashley by twenty-six international - ross | sweater: lol vintage - target | skirt: c/o asos | boots: target | hair bow: forever 21 I wore this outfit to work on a day when we did some co...

Outfit: Burgundy Leather Jacket, Green Skinny Jeans, and a Star Trek Tee

Image
The weekend is almost over but that doesn't mean I can't show you a weekend outfit from a couple weeks ago! These pictures were taken right when we got our first true taste of fall weather so I threw on some boots, jeans, and a leather jacket while roaming around the neighborhood. It was kind of muggy so I ended up too hot for the jacket halfway down the BeltLine, but I enjoyed how the burgundy color looked with my green jeans while it lasted. This whole look is pretty simple but the interesting color combination, touch of pattern from the umbrella, and fun Star Trek graphic t-shirt make it something worth posting on a style blog. At least I think so!  How do you make a t-shirt and jeans more exciting? Not that it always has to be exciting. I've been enjoying wearing high-waisted jeans (both skinny and bell bottoms) with v-neck t-shirts, and leather jackets lately. Sometimes it's just a jeans and a t-shirt kind of day! top, jacket: forever 21 | jeans: new yo...
