Outfit: Houndstooth Mini Skirt, Black Turtleneck, Dotted Tights, and a Wool Beret

Image
I feel like this black and white outfit is a pretty classic look with a tiny bit of modern print mixing. It has a little bit of a 60s feel. The houndstooth skirt - yes it's houndstooth but it's hard to tell from far away - was a very early thrift find. It was hemmed into a mini skirt and I've been wearing it for years. This time I styled it with some tights with tiny dots, a fitted turtleneck shirt, a beret, and knee high boots. Something about tall boots and a mini skirt looks fantastic for fall. Also berets and turtlenecks. Hats can really make a look but I always forget to add them to my outfits. I have a drawer filled with four berets but they're tucked away and I forget they're there. Anytime I remember, they end up making my outfit 100% better though! This black one was from H&M and is the perfect size for my small head. Plus it kept my head nice and toasty during a walk around town! Now I just need to remember to wear my non-beret hats... s...

Outfit: Strapless Polka Dot Romper, White Sandals, Aviators, and a Summer Hat

Image
I don't know about you, but I'm pretty happy it's Friday. This is one of my weekend outfits from a couple weeks ago when Matt and I wandered around the Old Fourth Ward Arts Festival. There were tons of booths set up with original local art. We ate some spicy and delicious Indian food from a food truck and tried sweet corn ice cream (which was delightfully different). The festival was at Old Fourth Ward Park just a short walk from our apartment so it was definitely a nice location to take pictures.  This polka dot romper was a purchase from Boohoo.com last year but it needed to be taken in a little so it was hardly worn. I've shown it on the blog before with a cardigan but now that it's fixed I can wear it on its own! (Fun fail fact: I got sunburned wearing this. Too much pasty skin showing and a couple missed spots with the sunscreen.)  I may have over-accessorized this a bit but I liked it! The sunglasses are my only pair of aviators so I like to wear t...

Outfit: Black Floral Skater Dress with Back Cutouts and a Black Boater Hat

Image
Happy happy Friday! I'm excited to show you a very spring-y outfit today. I found this dress at Ross a couple weeks back for something around $12 so I had to buy it. I liked the fun cutouts in the back and dark floral prints are great to wear year round. For its debut I wore my comfy bronze sandals and a black boater hat from Nasty Gal. Clearly it was another glasses day too. I wore my new blue glasses Firmoo sent me. I've never worn glasses as much as I have this year! dress: ross | sandals: korks - shoe carnival | bracelet: forever 21 | hat: nasty gal | glasses: c/o firmoo Do you have any fun plans this weekend? I'm looking forward to the Creature Comforts brewery anniversary celebration on Saturday. I'll be heading back to Athens for the festivities! Sunday will most likely be filled with much needed relaxation. I hope you have a great end of your week and that you're having a fantastic Friday!

Outfit: Star Trek Skirt, Black Mock Neck Sweater, and Red Tights

Image
This is one of my favorite outfits in a long time. In fact, I enjoyed wearing it so much I packed it up to come with me while visiting family! Sometimes I like to pack outfits I've already worn and know look good. That way I don't have to come up with an entire trip's worth of new outfits in one night. There can only be so much outfit creativity in one day! Anyway, I wore this on a regular old day. I'd been meaning to wear my Star Trek skirt with red tights and finally got around to it. I have a feeling many other colorful tights will look fantastic with this skirt too! I enjoyed how great all the black pieces in this outfit looked with the colorful tights and skirt. Since breaking out my box full of sweaters I have so many more shirt options. This black mock turtleneck sweater is a favorite thrifted last year. It was a little bit toasty the day I wore this though. I've been searching for a regular t-shirt version of this top for weeks. It would be a little less ...

Outfit: Green Lipstick with a Yellow Beret, Black Wool Coat, and Green Skinny Jeans

Image
Happy Monday everyone! Today I have a very casual fall outfit to show you. What makes this look different is the yellow beret and the fact that I'm wearing green lipstick. Yes. Green lipstick. This is the Nyx Wicked Lippie in Risque that Jeanie bought me for my birthday. I really enjoy seeing other people rock nontraditional lipstick shades so sometimes I try it out too! Why not? I've been noticing more and more makeup companies introduce "weird" colors into their lines, especially this past year. I'm happy to see affordable cosmetic companies embrace alternative colors. That means they're more easily available for people to test out and wear around. The more people are exposed to makeup they're not used to seeing, the more normal it seems. I actually got compliments on my makeup when I wore this out! "Weird" lipstick is here. It's like we're in the future! But seriously, doesn't it seem very futuristic to be wearing blue or green...

Outfit & Giveway: JORD Wood Watch, Olive Sweater, Leopard Skater Skirt, Clogs, and a Beret

Image
Today I'm very excited to introduce you to a unique and unconventional watch brand! JORD is a Missouri company that specializes in fashionable, hand-crafted  wood watches . I know wearing a watch isn't necessary for telling the time now that we all carry around cell phones, but making a watch a focal accessory is definitely something I can get on board with. The kind people over at JORD gifted me with their two-toned Sully watch in cherry & maple. The watch I chose is a bit oversized for a girl of my stature, but I wanted it to be a bold accessory. Since the holiday season is upon us, a JORD timepiece would make an awesome present for the stylish person in your life. I like that these watches aren't the typical dainty girly watch you usually see. Their Ely watch is a little smaller for those of you looking for a more understated timepiece though. Most of them are very unisex which I think is pretty fantastic. I can share my watch with my boyfriend! Another bonus: JOR...

Outfit: Acid Wash Skinny Jeans, Polka Dot Top, Blue Cardigan, & a Black Boater Hat

Happy Monday everyone! It's a new week, summer is officially over, and here I am pretending it feels like fall. I just really wanted to wear jeans! This outfit was comfortable enough for a few minutes out in the heat though. My upper stomach could feel the fresh air so I guess that was my air conditioning. Do you guys like my new hat? I ordered it during a Nasty Gal sale. I figured it's black so I can get away with wearing it in the cooler months but it's straw so it'll be fine to wear in the heat too! Win win! I really love wearing hats but I forget to wear them. I have a decent amount of them too. It's a shame to let them sit there unworn so I've been trying to plan outfits around them. jeans: boohoo | top: forever 21 | cardigan: target | wedges: y not? - shoe carnival | necklace - dragon con | hat: nasty gal I feel like I always talk about the weekend on here, but oh well. There's not a whole lot going on in my life right now! I had a good ...

Outfit: Polka Dot Matching Set with Floral Wedges and a Straw Hat

Image
You don't have to be a genius to figure out it's still super summery here in Georgia. I'm definitely looking forward to being able to wear more layers, but I tried hard to embrace the heat by wearing this outfit. I realized I hadn't featured my polka dot matching set without a cardigan yet, so I here it is! This is one of my absolute favorite purchases from Forever 21. It's so breezy and comfortable in this humid weather. This time I wore my cute straw hat with it and a pair of floral wedges I don't wear often enough.  matching set: forever 21 | shoes: ross dress for less | necklace: avon - great grandma collection | hat: h&m So have you guys had a good week so far? The weekend is around the corner! Though weekends generally aren't much different than weekdays for me. I spend a lot of time researching every single day. (Places that may have jobs, jobs that are posted, how to make my applications better, improving the freelance work I'm d...

Outfit + Video: Boat Print Shirt, Yellow Pleated Skirt, & a Straw Hat

Image
Happy Friday everyone! This post is a first for this blog because it includes an outfit video ! Sometimes it's nice to see how an outfit looks in motion. Plus most of you have never seen me moving around like an actual person. I may sit a lot but I promise I move in real life. Now you have proof. So please scroll down and check out my short video and if you feel so inclined subscribe to my YouTube channel because there'll be more videos.  Anyway, this boat print shirt is one of my favorite thrift finds ever. I definitely paid less than $1 for it. It always looks good paired with red and yellow so here it is with a yellow skirt. I think I should probably try it with other colors in the future though. To me, this is a perfectly summery outfit. Nautical things always scream "summer" to me. Also this hat seems to only make appearances when it's ridiculously hot outside. shirt: liz claiborne petites - thrifted | skirt: sheinside | shoes: xhileration - targ...
