Outfit: Green Lipstick with a Yellow Beret, Black Wool Coat, and Green Skinny Jeans
Happy Monday everyone! Today I have a very casual fall outfit to show you. What makes this look different is the yellow beret and the fact that I'm wearing green lipstick. Yes. Green lipstick. This is the Nyx Wicked Lippie in Risque that Jeanie bought me for my birthday. I really enjoy seeing other people rock nontraditional lipstick shades so sometimes I try it out too! Why not?
I've been noticing more and more makeup companies introduce "weird" colors into their lines, especially this past year. I'm happy to see affordable cosmetic companies embrace alternative colors. That means they're more easily available for people to test out and wear around. The more people are exposed to makeup they're not used to seeing, the more normal it seems. I actually got compliments on my makeup when I wore this out! "Weird" lipstick is here. It's like we're in the future! But seriously, doesn't it seem very futuristic to be wearing blue or green lipstick?
(To any possible future employers that may be reading this: Don't worry. I won't come into work wearing green lipstick unless it's a green lipstick kind of workplace.)

coat: old navy (from middle school...) | jeans: new york & co. | white top: forever 21 (high school) | shoes: korks - shoe carnival | scarf: gift | beret: mom's from the 80s

Sometimes I plan outfits around my makeup, particularly if they're more colorful looks. This was also planned to be a comfy outfit for hanging around the house. These green jeans are very stretchy and nice for lounging! The yellow beret was my mom's. I have matching red and blue ones too! They need to be worn more often.

Did you do anything fun over the weekend? I had my annual Giftmas celebration with Matt on Saturday. We spent most of the day at the Fernbank Museum in Atlanta looking at dinosaurs. Then we caught the end of Miracle on 34th Street before opening presents and heading out to a delicious dinner. I wish every day could be as nice as Saturday!
Sunday was spent shopping with Mom and braving the ridiculous mall crowds. It's kind of the Christmas shopping experience to be out there with all the nutty holiday shoppers at least once though! I found an amazing sparkly party dress at Delia's for 60% off. I'm pretty sad that they're closing. I've shopped there since high school. They're the only place I know of that carries such a wide range of inseams. Back in high school, I bought their bell bottoms that actually flared at the knee where they're supposed to. This probably sounds ridiculous, but I was counting on Delia's being open when flared jeans came back into style because they're the only place that made them for short girls! Sad times.
Anyway, I hope you have a good start to your week!

You're totally rocking the green lipstick! I just love that photo of your face... the beret, the lipstick and the eyeliner. Perfect!
It's a brilliant colour (my favourite) and goes incredible well with your lovely red hair :)
Big hello from the saltyseablog ^_^
