Halloween Costume 2013: 80s Aerobics Instructor

Image
Here it is: my 80s aerobics instructor costume! This was a really easy costume to put together and it was actually quite comfy. The only difficulty came when I was downtown and had to use the bathroom. Onesie problems. Isn't it always awkward to be practically naked while in the stall? That can't just be me. But anyway... The leotard was a vintage find at Savers over the summer. I knew this had to be my costume this year since I stumbled upon the leotard's striped glory. I just added a pair of colorful tights, a stretchy headband, and these strange-colored legwarmers I got as a gag gift. I definitely didn't realize that all my tights have that slight band on the upper thigh until yesterday though. This much of my tights doesn't usually show! Oh well. leotard: thrifted - savers | tights: kmart | legwarmers: christmas gag gift? | shoes: keds My strong, athletic pose is the best pose for this awesomely unflattering costume! My white keds somehow en...

Airplane Pin with a Denim Dress, Leopard Cardigan, & Keds

Image
I guess I've really been loving wearing my little Keds lately because here's another outfit with a dress & Keds combo. They're really comfy for walking back and forth to campus. This white pair is from high school when I was in Grease. So they're pretty old...but that's okay! It's like my vintage airplane pin was meant to be paired with this denim dress. They look so perfectly retro-tastic together. Maybe denim just goes with airplanes. I don't know, but this outfit wouldn't be nearly as good if I wasn't wearing my airplane pin. I can thank Jeanie for picking it out for me as I rushed out the door that morning. She was my accessorizer.  dress, cardigan, hair bow: forever 21 | shoes: keds | socks: kmart | airplane pin: vintage from grandma I hope you guys have a great start to your week. I stayed up pretty late getting my readings done for class, so I'll be tired. Oh well. It's a brand new week and I fully intend on ...

Pink Leopard Dress, Colorful Keds, and Teal Accents

Image
I really love this pink leopard print dress I got on sale from Modcloth a little while back. I've been consciously trying to style my dresses in more than one way for the blog. I think this is this dress' 4th feature on here! This time I paired some super colorful Keds with it (and ridiculously purple socks). I enjoyed the way my teal makeup and earrings contrasted with the pink in the dress too. Overall a pretty bold, colorful look for class but that's how I roll. dress: modcloth | sunglasses: dollar tree | shoes: keds - ross dress for less | socks: kmart | earrings: thrifted | belt: modcloth Do you guys like my ridiculous sparkly pink sunglasses? I got them from Dollar Tree. Seriously. I've been buying cool sunglasses there for so many years. Sorry this post was up a tiny bit later than usual. Flickr was down when I was trying to schedule my post! At least the oh-so-considerate landscapers woke me up early with leaf blowers right outside...

New Modcloth Dress, Keds, & a Red Cardigan

Image
Happy Wednesday! I've done a fantastic job of sleeping in way too late these past couple of days, but that's because I caught a cold and have been staying up late getting school crap done. Oh well. I hope I'm over this cold in a couple days. I've been eating soups and drinking lots of tea and staying in my pajamas. I wore this outfit to class on Monday. It's one of the dresses I got from the Modcloth super sale. I love that I get to buy all the dresses that are on sale because they're too short for the normal population. I really don't see how any person of normal height could wear this since my butt is almost out and I'm not even 5 feet tall. But it works for me, so hooray! I really want it to cool down so I can wear tights with this dress. dress: modcloth.com | cardigan: ann taylor loft - thrifted | shoes: keds | belt: thrifted | earrings, hair bow: forever 21 The ear is healing well, so I'm happy! It was super sore on Monday, but i...

Independence Day, Hooray!

Image
If there's one thing Jeanie and I like to do on the Fourth of July, it's dressing in garish red, white, and blue clothing. Then we take pictures on the front lawn with all the cars driving by and honking/staring. Happy Fourth! Jeanie's eagle ring made an appearance. It's only appropriate for America's birthday right? We come up with a lot of interesting poses and therefore end up with some hilarious pictures. This one was a favorite of the bunch. I present, Jeanie Lurks in the Tree Behind Me as I Peace Sign You: We feel like we're Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams in the movie Dick when we wear our Fourth of July outfits, so of course we had to have a peace sign picture!  Happy Fourth of July! I hope everyone had a fun/relaxing day!

Botanical Fun

Image
These pictures are from my outing to The State Botanical Garden of Georgia, which just so happens to be conveniently located about 8 minutes from my apartment. There were still a nice amount of flowers blooming so it was really pretty. I decided I needed to get more wears out of my pretty Steal the Game Show dress from Modcloth so I took some inspiration from other bloggers and wore it as a skirt! I actually really liked how this outfit turned out. Plus it was easy to walk around in all day because I wore nice, comfy Keds. dress (worn as a skirt): Modcloth.com blouse, belt, bag: thrifted cardigan: ann taylor loft; thrifted shoes: keds sunglasses: kohls earrings: forever 21 I quite enjoyed my brightly colored nails. They're China Glaze Papaya Punch with an accent nail of Electrify from the Capitol Colours collection. I've been loving having the whole Capitol Colours collection. Especially since it's Hunger Games themed. If there...

Perfect Plaid Skirt

Image
I'm never afraid to go with a school girl type look. To me, it's classic. Plus it's perfect for fall. I enjoy a good plaid skirt. I'm pretty sure the one I wore here was somebody's uniform skirt at one point. I spotted this skirt at my favorite super cheap thrift store and bought it for a dollar. It fits absolutely perfectly too. I didn't need the length taken up or anything. Hooray for great thrift finds! I tried to mix this up a little bit by pairing my striped top with the plaid skirt. I liked the mix of stripe patterns. skirt: tracy evans; thrifted top: forever 21 cardigan: forever 21 shoes: keds headband: forever 21 I made a coffee cake this morning. It was delicious. I really like having time to make something tasty for breakfast. Usually that only happens on Sundays when I'm at school. I really wanted to make pumpkin scones, but I don't have all the ingredients. So sad. Maybe during finals week. It's ...
