Quick Review: Sally Hansen® Miracle Gel™ Nail Polish in Redgy

Image
You know I love nail polish so I was very excited to try out the new Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polish sent to me for testing by Influenster . They sent me the color Redgy to review. You apply two coats of the color over no base coat and then add the top coat. The formula was easy to work with and self leveled well. The unique thing about this product is that you get the long wear and shine of a gel polish but you don't need a UV light. I'm particularly happy about that because I'm wary of the unnecessary UV exposure needed for regular gel polish to cure. I'm not usually someone that requires ridiculously long wear on a manicure since I like to change my nail color at least once a week. I was intrigued by the claim that this polish lasts up to 14 days though. I went ahead and tested it over my trip to Las Vegas because I knew I wouldn't have time to paint my nails while I was there. Overall I wore it for 10 days and I was amazed by how durable it was. Af...

Blue Lipstick with a Denim Pinafore, Green Top, & a Dinosaur Print Bow

Image
I did it. I broke out the blue NYX Macaron lipstick I bought last month and I actually think it worked! I tried my hardest to showcase a somewhat wearable look with blue lipstick. Bold lipstick is definitely another accessory in an outfit so I tried to keep the rest of the look relatively toned down. At least, toned down for me. One simple pattern, a solid top, and clear studded sandals. My main accessories were my awesome dinosaur bow and the crazy blue lipstick.  I hope this inspires some of you to step outside your makeup comfort zone, though I know blue lipstick isn't everyone's cup of tea. I did  only go water plants for a friend the day I wore this so the blue lips have yet to step into a store or anything. It'll happen soon.  pinafore: forever 21 | top: forever 21 | shoes: boohoo | bow: handmade | lipstick: nyx macaron in blue velvet I hope you're all having a fantastic week. Argyle Sweater, Pleated Leather Skirt, Polka Dot Tights, & a Red Hair Bow

Image
Happy Friday everyone! Here's yet another outfit that could easily be worn for a holiday get-together. I guess I've just been in a festive outfit mood. The snowy Illinois background really helps set the mood too. This argyle sweater will be a staple in my winter wardrobe for years to come. It's so classic and really nice quality too. I paired it with my faux leather skater skirt and some polka dot tights this time. An outfit I wore last year pairing this argyle sweater with a red wool skirt is one of my most viewed posts, so I'm going to assume people like this sweater as much as I do. I also added a big red bow to my hair and a Christmas pin to keep things in the festive spirit.  sweater: izod - sam's club | skirt: forever 21 | tights: kmart | boots: boohoo | bow: euberah | pin: found it in my drawer? Here are my holiday nails part 1. I've changed them again already! (Yes, I was freezing taking these pictures. It's warmed up a tiny bit si...

A Jeanie Outfit: Green Plaid Sweater & Black High-Waisted Jeans

Image
Happy Wednesday everyone! Here's a casual outfit from Jeanie today. I really love this green plaid cardigan Jeanie thrifted. It's very Cosby Cool. It also reminds me of the print on Scotch Tape. I wish I had bought a pair of these black high-waisted jeans from Forever 21 too. This is a great outfit for a cool fall day! cardigan: thrifted | jeans: forever 21 | boots: thrifted Are you prepared for another wonderful pose? Here it is: I hope you guys are having a nice week so far!

My Birthday Outfit: Vintage 80s Dress & Polka Dot Tights

Image
I always like to wear a completely new piece of clothing on my birthday each year. It feels good to save the first time I wear a dress for a special day! This dress was thrifted in July when we were visiting Illinois so it has been waiting in my closet for its debut for a while. When I tried it on, I couldn't leave it because it fit like it was made for me. Plus I love a good 80s dress. I seriously should have been my age in the 80s. I love the big hair and the fun, often garish clothing style. This dress isn't too 80s-tastic for normal wear which is another reason why I love it so much. It also has pockets which makes it extra perfect. Sure, the shoulder pads are definitely 80s, but it's not too much. Plus I modernized the styling a little bit by adding another print and swapping out the matching belt. It was a great birthday outfit and 100% me. dress: vintage 80s - savers | tights: kmart | heels: daisy fuentes | belt: thrifted | earrings: hand-me-downs from Mom | l...

Double Navy & Red Clog Sandals

Image
Happy Wednesday everyone! Here's a relatively simple outfit I wore to class the other day. For some reason I really wanted to wear a navy blue top with my blue shorts. Double navy! I tried my sail boat top at first and something about the two shades of blue just wasn't working, so out came my striped t-shirt. This was a very comfy outfit. I think these red shoes kind of make the outfit though. Plus they're a little big around the ankle so there was no rubbing on my scratched-up ankles! Hooray comfort. shorts: forever 21 | top: forever 21 | shoes: cherokee - target | belt: thrifted nails: o.p.i - the living daylights & china glaze - budding romance Thank you to Matt for taking my pictures this day. He's learning well! I hope you guys are having a good week. Mine has been busy and I'm very sleepy. I keep getting very little sleep due to all the work I can't catch up on. Maybe this weekend I can catch up. I doubt it though. Have a g...

Blue Lace, Houndstooth Mini Skirt, & Neon Nails

Image
Happy Wednesday! Can you guys believe it's July already? I don't want it to be this late in the summer yet! I'm not ready to give up my leisure time. Anyway, I wore this on Monday and only ended up leaving the house to drop some books off at the library. These are exciting times, my friends. I recently ordered this blue lace top from the Delia's website when they had a big clearance sale. I paid about $5 for it. You can't beat that! I paired it with my trusty houndstooth mini skirt which just does not photograph correctly no matter how many times I try. At least you can see the print in person and in the close-up shots! lace top: delia's | houndstooth mini skirt: thrifted | sandals: shoe carnival | earrings & belt: mom's nail polish: china  glaze - highlight of my summer Boy do I have a patriotic outfit post planned for tomorrow. Be prepared. If there ever can be a slightly socially-acceptable themed outfit, I take full advant...

Pinafore & Black Lace

Image
I wore this last week before I visited Virginia. I bought this pinafore last year and now they're "in" again, so that's good. I paired it with my black lace crop top and a pair of floral wedges that I don't wear often enough. There's also a tiny bit of an "arm party" going on. Aren't I so trendy? Yeah. pinafore dress: forever 21 | black lace top: h&m | wedges: ross dress for less | floral hair clip: forever 21 | pearl bracelet & earrings: gift | watch: great grandma collection | spiked bracelet: jigsaw london Bright purple-y lipstick! Thanks for the kind comments recently. I promise I'll get caught up on your blogs soon. This week threw life out of wack, but I'm hoping to get back to normal soon. It's a weird feeling to not want to do anything at all. I picked up my library books again yesterday and went out shopping too so that's a start. Have a great weekend!

Cartoon Print "Pow!" Top, Ruffled Lace Skirt, & Studded Loafers

Image
Happy Wednesday everyone! I wore this on an outing to the mall with Matt on Monday. I've had this skirt for years now and have definitely got my money's worth out of it. I never think about how short it is until I see pictures, but oh well! I'm comfortable with my legs so as long as my actual butt isn't out then I'm a-okay. This "pow!" shirt is a new addition and I love how ridiculous it is. It goes along with the cartoon print trend. It was definitely a trendy purchase but it was cheap so that's okay. I'm wearing a bunch of things I can't wear very often when I have a real grown-up job next year. It makes sense to wear some trendy, young-looking styles while I'm actually still young. Also, these studded loafers are new too. Because I needed yet another new pair of shoes. Seriously somebody needs to make me stop. The shoes are overflowing! top: papaya | skirt: forever 21 | shoes: x-appeal - rack room shoes | earrings: charm...
