Outfit: Maroon Skater Skirt, Polka Dot Tights, and a Silver Sweater

Image
We've come to the end of the road with my Las Vegas outfit posts. I guess there was only one before this but still. I brought my trusty maroon skater skirt with me on vacation because it looks great with pretty much anything. It was still the festive season so I paired it with a subtly sparkly silver sweater. The polka dot tights are another favorite that look good with nearly anything. I especially love how black looks paired with my maroon skirt too. That's a color scheme I'm sure you see me wear relatively often.  I really like this outfit, but then again it's hard not to like an outfit made up of favorite pieces and a pair of very comfy yet super cute shoes. It certainly was a great outfit choice for wandering down the Las Vegas Strip - comfy and stylish at the same time! Sometimes I like to save new pieces to wear for the first time over vacation, but other times I pack up only things I know I definitely enjoy wearing (and are comfortable). How about you? ...

New Year's Eve Outfit: Black Turtleneck, Gold Sequined Skater Skirt, and Dotted Tights

Image
It's the new year! Before doing a roundup of 2015 I thought I'd show you what I wore on New Year's Eve yesterday while it's still slightly relevant. (Even though the holiday is over, I'm still looking forward to seeing what you all wore.) Again, I ask: why aren't sequins a-okay all year? Or at least through the rest of the winter months which kind of suck? I spotted this gold sparkly skirt at my last trip to Target and couldn't let it go. It was the last one left and in my size so I snatched it up! I already own a blue-green sequined skirt but it's okay to have two sequined skirts in one wardrobe, right? Just agree with me. I styled this incredibly sparkly skirt with a neutral color palate. Metallics and black always scream of New Year's Eve to me. For a little extra fun I added polka dot tights and a super cool beetle pin I thrifted. I also added a thin black turtleneck because it looks good with everything. top: boohoo | skirt:...

Outfit: Houndstooth Mini Skirt, Black Turtleneck, Dotted Tights, and a Wool Beret

Image
I feel like this black and white outfit is a pretty classic look with a tiny bit of modern print mixing. It has a little bit of a 60s feel. The houndstooth skirt - yes it's houndstooth but it's hard to tell from far away - was a very early thrift find. It was hemmed into a mini skirt and I've been wearing it for years. This time I styled it with some tights with tiny dots, a fitted turtleneck shirt, a beret, and knee high boots. Something about tall boots and a mini skirt looks fantastic for fall. Also berets and turtlenecks. Hats can really make a look but I always forget to add them to my outfits. I have a drawer filled with four berets but they're tucked away and I forget they're there. Anytime I remember, they end up making my outfit 100% better though! This black one was from H&M and is the perfect size for my small head. Plus it kept my head nice and toasty during a walk around town! Now I just need to remember to wear my non-beret hats... s...

Outfit: Dark Floral Dress, Polka Dot Tights, Chunky Heels, and a Burgundy Leather Jacket

Image
This might be my favorite recent outfit so I hope you enjoy it too! I know the post right before this includes this burgundy leather jacket too, but I've been wearing it a lot. Something about the colored faux leather is so perfect for fall. This oxblood/burgundy/maroon shade pairs with so many other colors, but my favorite might be black. Here I styled it with some bold mixed prints: a dark floral print fit and flare dress and polka dot tights.  This was what I wore on a weekend trip to local Second Self brewery for their first anniversary party. I'd worn this dress and tights together to work earlier in the year but never photographed it. I kept remembering how much I liked the pairing, so here it is! The comfy chunky heels were perfect for being on my feet for hours and the jacket kept me dry on this slightly drizzly day. dress: ross | jacket: forever 21 | tights: kmart | shoes: korks - shoe carnival I love the picture right above this, but do you know how di...

Outfit: Purple Velvet Mini Skirt, Floral Blouse, and Dotted Tights

Image
I picked up this floral print blouse in Target clearance a few weeks back. I find such great things in their clearance racks! It's almost dangerous to browse through them because I'm almost guaranteed to find something I want. I used a gift card on it too which is a double win! For its first day out I paired it with a very old purple velvet mini skirt. I've had this skirt since freshman year of college and it's still going strong. I added a pair of tiny polka dot Betsey Johnson tights for some extra pattern too. Yes, I'm wearing black lipstick here. It's the Nyx Macaron lipstick in Chambord. I have so many of the other shades in that line, I figured I'd pick up and try the black one too! I enjoy how it looks against the otherwise girly-ness of this outfit. It's not a particularly low maintenance shade, but what dark lipstick is? It's also pretty weird drinking coffee and seeing black lip marks instead of the usual colors. Weird but cool. The black...

Outfit: Skeleton Print Dress, Burgundy Leather Jacket, and Polka Dot Tights

Image
I was so happy to be able to borrow this skeleton print dress from Jessica over at Midwest Muse . It's such a unique print! The different skeleton pieces have little labels pointing to the different anatomical parts. It's definitely not a print that would be allowed during an anatomy test. Good thing I don't have to worry about that!  I actually wore this dress twice. (You'll see the other way I styled it later.) This time I went with a burgundy leather jacket I got on clearance at Forever 21 and nearly-matching lipstick. I thought polka dot tights might be a fun, girly option to pair with the edgy skeleton print too. I actually love how this mix of prints turned out. I hope you like it as much as I do! dress: modcloth (borrowed from  jessica's at midwest muse ) | jacket: forever 21 | tights: walmart | shoes: korks - shoe carnival | earrings: charming charlie Sorry for slacking on the usual posting schedule this week. I was preparing for an intervie...

Outfit: Faux Fur Scarf, Lace Dress, Leather Jacket, and Polka Dot Tights

Image
Happy Monday everyone! An all black outfit is a little different than the norm for me, but when I do it I tend to mix a bunch of textures or patterns to make it interesting. This time I did both! I just love the way different textures make an outfit interesting even without adding color. This vintage faux fur scarf was a Christmas present this year and I really like how it looks with my leather jacket. Plus leather and lace always look good together. Every piece here combined to create my ultimate all-black outfit! Do you ever wear an entirely black outfit? How do you make it interesting? dress: oasap | jacket: ashley by twenty-six international - ross | tights: kmart | boots: boohoo | scarf: charter club - thrifted | glasses: zenni optical This little black lace dress isn't worn nearly enough. I tend to shy away from it in the summer because it has long sleeves and I live in sweltering Georgia. (You can see the pretty lace sleeves in this previous post though!) How sho...

Psychotic State T-shirt, Mustard Cardigan, Black Shorts, Polka Dot Tights, & Red Shoes

Image
Happy Monday everyone! Here's an outfit I wore a couple weeks back on a dreary rainy day. I had a casual birthday party to attend so I put together an outfit with this new pair of black short shorts I bought. They zip up the back and are incredibly comfortable. I enjoy a good pair of short shorts since I'm not shy about my legs whatsoever. May as well have them out while I'm young! I also wore my favorite vintage t-shirt from Dad, this Psychotic State t-shirt. It was representative of my feelings toward school and the way school was making me feel at that time. I mean, it's still stressing me out a little but it's just about done! shirt: from Dad | cardigan: thrifted | shorts: forever 21 | tights: kmart | shoes: forever 21 I hope you're all doing well this Monday. I don't have anything particularly exciting to talk about right now. I've just been getting caught up on things I've been neglecting this semester and trying to relax. I...

New Pixie Cut! Plus Polka Dot Tights, a Maroon Skater Skirt, Striped Shirt, & Black Coat

Image
Happy Monday everyone! It's time to debut my new hair cut to blog land. I took these pictures when round two of the snow was going on last week. Actually it wasn't really snow at that point. I was getting pelted with ice pellets and it wasn't comfortable at all! You can actually see them in the pictures! Toward the end of taking pictures it was getting pretty bad which is why a lot of these pictures are similar. My camera had a nice plastic bag on it to keep it from getting wet, but I wasn't going to trust it for very long! But anyway, I know I wore these polka dot tights in my last post, but let's face it: I wear these polka dot tights a lot. They kind of go with everything and I enjoyed how they looked with my striped shirt. I just really liked this outfit. It was comfortable with print mixing and cool shoes. Plus my new hair is awesome and I love it! I hope you think it looks cool too. I feel so much more like myself when I have short hair. This is the first...
