Being under 5 feet tall can make finding certain clothes nearly impossible. Take bell bottom jeans for example. People say, "Oh you can hem them!" Wrong. Once hemmed, the flared awesomeness - the part that makes them "bell," disappears. This means we vertically challenged have to find jeans actually made for our non-Amazonian legs. This is a challenge. Since I've been seeing more bell bottoms and wide-legged jeans online, I didn't hesitate to try on the pair I noticed at Target a couple months ago. They were marked with an "R" for regular length which is a glorious mark in my mind because that usually means that an "S" for short exists somewhere in the universe. One of my favorite color combinations to wear in the summer is red, white and blue - which is especially perfect around Independence Day! I wore this simple outfit over the weekend to a trip to a dog park, to the mall, and to see the new Legend of Tarzan movie (which I thoroughly enjoyed.)  I've been feeling wearing denim much more often, especially when paired with a good striped shirt. Sometimes it's nice to keep things simple and classic. I still have some fun going on with the silver shoes and red sunglasses, but a striped shirt and denim pairing is a time-honored look. And for a reason! It looks good and never goes out of style. Hey look! My hair is in a ponytail. I've never been a ponytail kind of girl but I must admit I've been enjoying switching it up. It's nice having the option of putting it up when my hair isn't looking in tip top shape between washes. I do miss having my short hair though! It pretty much always looked good and was super fast to blow dry. Someday it'll get the chop again! Now on to the clothes! Behold! I found a pair of bell bottoms for short women and they came from Old Navy! If you're short, you know how difficult it is to find properly fitting jeans outside of the straight leg or skinny styles. Skinny jeans and straight jeans can be hemmed and they'll generally look fine. With flares, you end up chopping off most of the flared part of the denim. Not only that, but the flare itself starts so far down on your leg it looks ridiculous. Needless to say, it was a journey trying to find bell bottoms made with a short inseam without having to spend over $150.  At a recent mall trip I noticed Old Navy had high waisted bell bottoms so I tried them on even though I knew they'd be way too long on me. My local Old Navy stores don't carry petite sizes so I had to cross my fingers and guess at a size to order online. I was very excited when Boohoo reached out to me to create an outfit inspired by a style icon of my choice for their #TBT campaign. There are so many people I draw inspiration from but one of my favorites right now is Debbie Harry of the new wave band, Blondie. She continues to make bold fashion choices to this day but her late 70s/early 80s look is my favorite. Happy Christmas Eve! I can't believe it's already the 24th. To keep with the festive nature of this day here is a very holiday appropriate outfit. I wore this for our family Christmas card pictures. I'd been trying to find an excuse to wear my Santa-like red velvet skirt with my Christmas Converse so Christmas picture day turned out to be the perfect occasion. This skirt is mostly appropriate for holiday times due to the strange nature of its velvet material. Instead of a fine fuzziness it leans toward strange red faux fur. It's perfect for this time of year because it seems like something Santa's suit would be made out of. What do you think about my Christmas Converse? I've had them since high school. These suspender pants are ridiculous. I know that. That didn't keep me from thrifting them (with tags still on) and attempting with all my might to make them work. They're one of the first things I ever thrifted so they hold a special place in my style heart. However they're not the most flattering things so they don't get worn much.  Sometimes an outfit doesn't have to be flattering. Sometimes it can just be fun. That's why I decided it was time to break out my suspender pants again! This time I went with a neutral color palette and relied on the shades of gray to keep the nuttiness of these pants in check. I had to add just a touch of color with my lipstick and hair bow though. My striped top worked with the small, almost unnoticeable houndstooth print in the pants. Happy Wednesday everyone! Here's yet another super summery outfit straight from hot and humid Georgia. This striped blouse is a relatively new sale purchase from Modcloth. It's one of those pieces that I thought would look good with a ton of things. Unfortunately it only ended up pairing with most of my clothes in theory. I think part of the problem is that I own a lot of items with prints and not enough solids. That's my own fault though, not the fault of this shirt. Happy Monday everyone! This is an outfit I wore a couple weeks back. It's currently a little too warm for my jean jacket, but the weather people say it's supposed to cool down this week so we'll see. Anyway, the main story with this outfit is that I'm bringing the choker necklace back. Not really, but I tried. It wasn't a planned thing but I was feeling a slightly 90s vibe going on with my jean jacket that day so I figured I may as well add the choker. It was my mom's 90s choker so that's exciting. Chokers aren't technically the best choice for short people since they cut off the neckline, but my high-waisted shorts help to counter the shortening effect of the choker. Plus who says I always have to try to look tall? It's all an illusion on the blog anyway since putting me next to any reference items (or people) gives away my height!
