Outfit: Olive Green Sweater over a Floral Top, Pleated Leather Skirt, and Cutout Boots

Image
Happy happy Monday to you! I hope you had a fantastic weekend but now it's time to get back to reality. Luckily I have an outfit post to slightly brighten your day - I hope? I actually wore this to work on a more casual day but it's something I'd wear any day. This olive green sweater is one of my favorites for this time of the year. The v-neck and thin knit makes it great for layering over my many button down tops. This time I put it over a floral print button down crop top because it complimented the green shades in the floral print. Then I added my faux leather pleated skirt and cutout ankle boots. Matt took these pictures for me while we were out walking Riker after work. Sadly it gets dark by the time we're home from work now and Riker has to walk around in the dark. I'll have to give you a Riker pupdate sometime soon. He just keeps growing! sweater: target | floral shirt: h&m | skirt: forever 21 | boots: boohoo So did you have a good wee...

Outfit: Flannel Shirt, Maroon Leather Skirt, Thigh High Socks, and Black Loafers

Image
This was the outfit I wore to the New Pornographers concert earlier this month. I bought this maroon leather skirt at Forever 21 with a gift card from my birthday. I didn't realize just how short it was until I saw these pictures! I mean, I felt a slight breeze on my butt walking to the venue but I just assumed it was the normal kind of short skirt breeziness. My nether-regions remained covered all evening but I think this is a must-wear-with-tights kind of skirt from now on. Nevertheless, I loved how this outfit turned out. I enjoy the over-the-knee socks look that other bloggers rock so I figured it was time to pull mine out again. Plus this flannel shirt looks good with just about everything and it kept me perfectly warm while out and about in Atlanta. The concert was absolutely amazing. The New Pornographers is one of my absolute top favorite bands and this was the second time I'd seen them. They encored three times and played "Sing Me Spanish Techno" for their...

Remix: Leather Pleated Skater Skirt

Image
I bought this faux leather skirt from Forever 21 right before summer 2013 and it's been just as versatile for the summer months as the cold ones. The flared shape keeps it from being overly toasty when it's 90+ degrees outside but it's faux leather so it's plenty warm when it's cold outside. I have a leather pencil skirt too but I get more use out of this pleated one. It's just so easy to throw on in place of a regular black skirt. It would definitely work with an edgier look but I tend to dress it up like any other black skater skirt. It adds a cool texture to any outfit!   This kind of skirt is actually completely on trend. You can find a bunch of them in stores right now for very little money. A piece like this could easily become a staple in a wardrobe as a replacement for a black skater skirt. What do you think? Have you picked up any leather or faux leather pieces recently? Would you wear a leather skirt? Click the numbers underneath the pictures t...

Outfit: Floral Crop Top, Leather Skater Skirt, Fishnet Tights, and Black Loafers

Image
I'm trying to force fishnet tights to make a comeback. I've worn a slightly less traditional pair of fishnet(y) tights on the blog before, but these are straight up traditional fishnets. They've been in my drawer for many years. I wore these to my freshman homecoming so it's the truth when I say they're old! They're actually a really nice pair of sturdy tights, not the fishnets that come with a crappy "sexy" Halloween costume. However you have to be careful that your outfit doesn't actually look like a sexy Halloween costume when you wear fishnets. I don't think a lot of people know it's possible to wear them with a daytime outfit. I think I succeeded in looking like a (relatively) normal human being. Wearing flats and not platform heels may be the key. Plus a fine fishnet pattern, if that makes any sense. Does anyone else think tights like these look really cool from afar? I'm always a fan of pieces that add a neat texture to an ou...

Outfit: Leather Pencil Skirt, Blue Tank Top, Wedge Sandals, & a Spiked Bracelet

Image
Do you have those pieces in your wardrobe that just don't get worn enough even though they should be highly remix-able? This leather pencil skirt is one of those pieces in mine. It's the outcome of a wonderful thrifting trip and a DIY scalloped hem. (You can see how this hem was done in my scalloped leather skirt tutorial .)  Sometimes it's daunting to think about wearing leather in the summer. Even though it's very hot outside, I decided to make this leather skirt work by pairing it with a light tank top and some wedge sandals. I was in the air conditioning most of the day anyway, so I survived wearing a leather pencil skirt in the Georgia heat!  skirt: thrifted | top: kmart | shoes: target | bracelet: jigsaw london This week has been and will continue to be weird. I'm half-way through moving out of my Athens apartment and back home for an unknown amount of time. (Basically until I get my life together and find a grown up job.) I've been clea...

Leopard Print Coat, Blue Velvet Collared Sweater, Leather Skirt, & Lace Print Tights

Image
It's Monday again already! The weekends fly by, don't they? Oh well. Here's an outfit I wore a little while back and am just now getting to posting! I thrifted this collared cardigan while we were in Illinois in December. I couldn't resist the velvet collar and the fact that it was like a blouse, but a cardigan. Also the shade of blue is really pretty and I like how it looks with my red hair. For its debut I paired it with my leather skater skirt and my vintage leopard print coat. Whenever I wear this leather skirt, I enjoy the texture it adds. It also adds a little extra cool-ness to any outfit!  coat: vintage from great grandma | sweater: thrifted | skirt: forever 21 | tights: forever 21 | boots: hand-me-down | necklace: forever 21 | earrings: stella & dot Did you guys have a good weekend? I did, but I'm ready for the next one already. If only life could be all weekends. Though after next weekend I'll have to be doing grad school work un...

Argyle Sweater, Pleated Leather Skirt, Polka Dot Tights, & a Red Hair Bow

Image
Happy Friday everyone! Here's yet another outfit that could easily be worn for a holiday get-together. I guess I've just been in a festive outfit mood. The snowy Illinois background really helps set the mood too. This argyle sweater will be a staple in my winter wardrobe for years to come. It's so classic and really nice quality too. I paired it with my faux leather skater skirt and some polka dot tights this time. An outfit I wore last year pairing this argyle sweater with a red wool skirt is one of my most viewed posts, so I'm going to assume people like this sweater as much as I do. I also added a big red bow to my hair and a Christmas pin to keep things in the festive spirit.  sweater: izod - sam's club | skirt: forever 21 | tights: kmart | boots: boohoo | bow: euberah | pin: found it in my drawer? Here are my holiday nails part 1. I've changed them again already! (Yes, I was freezing taking these pictures. It's warmed up a tiny bit si...

Jean Jacket, Olive Green Sweater, Leopard Top, Leather Skirt, & Leopard Print Tights

Image
Happy Monday! Here's an outfit I wore last month that I'm just now posting. I'm behind! I wore this to the Neutral Milk Hotel concert. I was plenty warm with my sweater and jean jacket. These studded loafers are nice and comfy (now that they have those Dr. Scholls pads stuck on the back to protect my ankles), so they're good concert shoes. This outfit just makes me really happy that it's fall and I can actually do some layering without dying of heat stroke.  denim jacket: so... - thrifted (originally from kohl's) | sweater: mossimo - target | leopard shirt: thrifted | skirt: forever 21 | tights: kohl's | loafers: x-appeal - rack room shoes | hair bow: forever 21 What is it about this leopard print shirt and olive green sweater that makes them look so perfect together? It's definitely one of my favorite layering combinations in my closet. I hope you guys have a great week. This is the week before Thanksgiving break so I have about a...

Leopard Crop Top, Leather Skater Skirt, & a Green Cardigan

Sometimes I wear leopard print crop tops. Sometimes I wear them with faux leather skirts. I like it! top: papaya | skirt: forever 21 | cardigan: h&m | sandals: solanze - shoe carnival | earrings: charming charlie I don't have a whole lot to say other than that Neutral Milk Hotel was super awesome last night.
