Work Outfit: Light Blue Jersey Knit Dress and White Block Heels

Image
I'm a big fan of what I call "pajama dresses," which are really just jersey knit skater dresses . They're comfortable enough to sleep in, yet can look 100% put-together if styled nicely. That's exactly what I did with this light blue dress California-based shop Tobi sent me to style. (Someone even asked me why I was dressed so nice at the dog park! I told them I just came from work, of course.) For the debut of my newest pajama dress, I added my silvery beaded Stella and Dot necklace and a pair of white block heel sandals from Forever 21. I actually bought the shoes back in December on sale and had to wait for it to warm up to finally wear them. Happily, they're comfortable enough to walk back and forth to work, which is really all I can ask in a pair of cheap shoes.  daydreaming skater dress : c/o tobi | shoes : forever 21 | necklace: stella & dot | sunglasses: forever 21 Check out more from Tobi:  shorts  |  jewelry  |  casual dresses ...

Outfit: Windowpane Print Top, Black Skinny Jeans, and Silver Oxford Shoes

Image
It's close to Halloween so I thought I'd get in the spirit here and show you a slightly festive outfit. I generally include color in my outfits but sometimes throwing black pieces together feels right! In lieu of color I added sparkly details like my silver-y Stella & Dot beaded necklace and my silver cutout oxfords. The silver accessories played off the zippers on the front of my new black jeans too. Can I mention how much I love these black high-waisted jeans ? They're in the Soho Jeans line from New York & Company and are super stretchy and comfortable. I wore them two days in a row and they didn't sag on me, which is a miracle in the land of stretch denim! So if you've never thought to check out the jeans at New York & Company, perhaps you may want to in the near future. top: forever 21 | jeans: new york & company | shoes: target | bow: forever 21 | necklace: stella & dot I know I'm posting this outfit as a sort of dark Hall...

Leopard Print Coat, Blue Velvet Collared Sweater, Leather Skirt, & Lace Print Tights

Image
It's Monday again already! The weekends fly by, don't they? Oh well. Here's an outfit I wore a little while back and am just now getting to posting! I thrifted this collared cardigan while we were in Illinois in December. I couldn't resist the velvet collar and the fact that it was like a blouse, but a cardigan. Also the shade of blue is really pretty and I like how it looks with my red hair. For its debut I paired it with my leather skater skirt and my vintage leopard print coat. Whenever I wear this leather skirt, I enjoy the texture it adds. It also adds a little extra cool-ness to any outfit!  coat: vintage from great grandma | sweater: thrifted | skirt: forever 21 | tights: forever 21 | boots: hand-me-down | necklace: forever 21 | earrings: stella & dot Did you guys have a good weekend? I did, but I'm ready for the next one already. If only life could be all weekends. Though after next weekend I'll have to be doing grad school work un...

Casual New Year's Eve Outfit: Vintage T-Shirt, Tulle Skirt, & Striped Tights

Image
Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a nice New Year's Eve. Mine was very casual and I enjoyed that a lot. We played a board game, had some beer, and watched various countdown shows until midnight. There were also sparklers, so that was exciting.  I thought about wearing a fully sequined dress but I was kind of tired and wanted to be able to lounge. That's not exactly easy when you're worried about sequins laying correctly. I was glad I had this black tulle skirt at home! It's festive but also comfortable - especially when paired with a soft vintage t-shirt like this Psychotic State one. This is probably my all-time favorite vintage shirt from Dad and that's saying something because they're all really cool. How can you beat this one though? I figured it made a nice statement about 2013 and the large amount of grad school that took up my life and brain. Anyway, I tried to add as much sparkle to my outfit as possible with my silver beaded necklace ...

Striped Shirt, Red Wool Skirt, Silver Beaded Necklace, & Boston Terrier Flats

Image
Happy Friday everyone! I really loved this outfit. It was kind of simple with the main pieces, but the details made it more unique. A striped t-shirt looks good with almost everything. I'm glad to have snatched up this long sleeved one from Forever 21 during a sale. I wore it with my trusty red wool skirt and added some fishnet-ish tights and my new Boston Terrier flats Jeanie bought me for Christmas. My Stella & Dot beaded necklace was a gift from Mom a couple years ago. It looks good with so many things but I tend to wear it during the colder months for whatever reason. So here it is, obviously out in the cold! shirt: forever 21 | skirt: thrifted | tights: kmart? | shoes: delia's - gift | necklace: stella & dot The snowy pictures I have from Illinois make me wish we got some snow here in Georgia. I love the way the sunlight reflects off the snow and bounces onto my face and the outfit. Plus it's nice and festive during this time of the year. ...

Pink & Purple Plaid Skirt, Black Sweater, & Vertically Striped Tights

Image
This pink, purple, and black plaid skirt is definitely one of my favorite thrift finds. It actually has a matching jacket that's somewhere in my closet back at home. I wouldn't put it past me to wear them together at some point, but so far I'm happy wearing the suit skirt as a separate piece. You don't see plaid with these colors very often! It tends to look great with black pieces, so that's exactly what I did here.  This angora blend short sleeved sweater was another great thrift find. It's so soft. Every time I see pictures of me wearing it I remember how nice it looks even though it's a simple piece. It should definitely be worn more often but I think the first time I wore it gave me a subconscious aversion to choosing it. One of the little angora fibers ended up in my eye ball. It created a lovely allergic reaction that lingered after I picked the hair out. It's worth it to wear this soft, cozy sweater though! sweater: gap - thrifted | sk...

A Composer Scarf, Houndstooth Mini Skirt, & Polka Dot Tights

Image
Hello! I wore this outfit last week on a day that primarily consisted of an outing to Chipotle with Jeanie. I decided it was time I wore this thrifted short sleeved sweater before it gets too hot to wear it. I put on this whole outfit minus the scarf and was just looking in the mirror wondering what was missing. Obviously it needed my music composer scarf. I really think it was the perfect finishing touch.  short sleeved sweater: gap - thrifted | houndstooth mini skirt: thrifted | tights: kmart | mary jane heels: croft & barrow - kohl's ?| composer scarf: thrifted | faux leather jacket: ashley by twenty six international - ross dress for less | soiree earrings: stella & dot I love when I realize so much of an outfit is thrifted. I rarely realize it until I put together an outfit post.  You can't see the houndstooth pattern on this skirt from a distance. The skirt works as a neutral piece and because of this I tend to mix other patterns with it. You can...

Vintage Shopping and a Black & Mint Outfit

Image
On Monday Jeanie and I headed downtown to spend some of our joint Starbucks giftcard, but ended up taking a detour and stopping at a vintage store I'd been wanting to check out for a while. Athens has a bunch of great thrift shops, but I rarely take advantage of them. It's hard to find a time for both Jeanie and I to be free during the daytime and I don't really have anybody else to go with. Thrifting is way more fun with a companion, I think! I didn't end up getting anything, but Minx Vintage was so cute I'll definitely be going back. I'm currently kicking myself for not buying the 60's floral sundress I saw there. Next time I'll remember the 1/2 off coupon that's sitting on my end table. And...outfit intermission. I wasn't too impressed with this one. It's one of those times where I threw clothes on and it was a fail. I've had this skirt since freshman year of college and I used to love it, but now I look at it and it doesn...
