Work Outfit: Red Modcloth Sheath Dress, Zebra Print Cardigan, and Tan Peeptoe Heels

Image
In case you didn't know, Modcloth released their own line of Modcloth-branded designs last week. The line is filled with classic pieces with cute details like scalloped collars, bows, and ruffles. I was chosen as one of the lucky people to help show off one of their new pieces because the designs were inspired by their Style Gallery users. (I was so so excited!) They sent me this completely work appropriate and flattering bright red dress. As you probably know, I really love to wear red with my red hair , so it's a perfect dress for me! The My Byline of Work Dress seems very well made and sturdy. It's a slightly stretchy knit, but not the type that pills up after one wear. (Hooray!) The ruffled detailing at the bottom makes it more special than a regular sheath dress and makes it particularly fun to walk in since the ruffles wave around. It even has pockets for those cold days ahead (soon please?) when I need to keep my hands warm on the way to work. Unfortunately...

Yellow Dress, Zebra Print Cardigan, & Red Oxfords

Image
I hadn't worn this little yellow dress in over a year because I needed the straps taken up. Another woe of being short. But Mom fixed it for me and I'm so glad I can start styling it in different ways. This time I went with a zebra print cardigan and some red oxfords for a day of class.  The dress is a really nice, light material for this heat but it gets so wrinkly! I had to speed iron it in the morning. Obviously the dress didn't stay ironed for very long... fields of sunflowers dress c/o sugarlips apparel (over a year ago) | shoes: forever 21 | cardigan: forever 21 | belt: ralph lauren - thrifted Do you guys have anything fun planned for this weekend? I'll be watching the football game on Saturday and trying to catch up on school work. Exciting times, as usual! Happy Friday! P.S.: check out the Passion For Fashion linkup at Rachel the Hat!

Maroon Skater Skirt, Mustard Top, & a Zebra Cardigan

Image
Something about this skirt makes me want to pair it with shades of yellow. It may be lingering high school pride since our school colors were maroon & gold, but I think it's more likely that yellow just contrasts really well with this skirt! Also it would be great if I had this skirt in about 20 different colors because it looks good with everything. I wore this outfit on Wednesday and it was perfect outside so I broke out my silver sandals. The silver necklace is from my Great Grandma collection of jewelry and I think it has a really cool Ancient Greece feel to it. Obviously I had to match my necklace to my shoes. skater skirt: h&m | zebra cardigan, yellow blouse: forever 21 | silver sandals: rocket dog - shoe carnival | necklace: great grandma collection Sorry I don't have anything particularly exciting to say today! I've just been enjoyably wandering around town with Mom the past couple days. I've been relaxing a little too which is just ...

A Casual Zebra Blouse, Jeans, & Studded Flats Outfit

Image
It was pretty cold on Tuesday so I figured a jeans outfit was necessary. Good thing I had a cute blouse ready to wear which made me look a little bit put-together. I thrifted this zebra print blouse over the summer and decided to wait until the temperature got cooler to wear it. Then I guess I waited even longer. Oops. I'll try my best to wear it a couple more times before it gets hot again. zebra print blouse: thrifted | jeans, earrings: forever 21 | studded flats: c/o sway chic It was totally necessary to wear my zebra print earrings with this blouse.  I really love these jeans I'm wearing here. They were only around $12 at Forever 21 and are clearly not built to last, but they're high-waisted and fit so well. It's hard to find high waisted jeans period, let alone a pair that fit nicely. I didn't even have to hem the legs and that's always a glorious thing! Anyway, have a great weekend! I'll be keeping warm at home and visiti...

Remix Post: Brown Tweed Blazer

Image
Is this week over yet? There's so much work to do, but I wanted to update the blog! It's too late to do any real work right now anyway. I thought I'd throw together a remix post featuring my brown tweed blazer. I think I've had it since high school. Mom bought it for me from Kohls way back when. It's a really light jacket, but it's plenty warm enough over a sweater. Plus it's the only brown coat I have, so I tend to wear it with brown-toned outfits. (Just click the numbers to go to the original post if you're interested.) 1. 2. & 3. 4. 5. & 6.  7. I'm feeling a lot better than last week, but still not 100%. It's unfortunate because I have 50 billion projects to do this week. Somehow I'll try to get everything done without sinking into a deep schoolwork-related depression. I'm sure a bunch of you are feeling these same woes of the end of the semester.  Happy Monday ultra-night/Tuesday morn...

Doing the Red & Mint Thing

Image
It was about time I tried out the red and mint color combination I've been admiring on other bloggers. This was just a casual outfit for hanging around Athens all day. It ended up kind of crazy for what could have been a simple shorts outfit, but oh well! What can I say? I like color! Matt actually took these pictures for me while I directed. As you can see, the stone wall at my apartment has returned! I know you're overjoyed by the sight! shorts, cardigan, earrings: forever 21 | top: charlotte russe | shoes: self esteem - shoe carnival | nail polish: china glaze - secret peri-wink-le I made a to-do list for today and tomorrow. It's quite extensive, but the tasks are mostly small things. It's been hard getting things done because Matt and Jeanie keep coming and going from my apartment. I just need a day alone to get things done! Maybe it'll happen tomorrow? I usually get more things done late at night anyway, so I can only hope that's what...

Red Dress, Zebra Print, & Shaking My Head at Uptalkers

Image
I've been having a fine ol' time in the Land of Lincoln! We just make our rounds to the relatives/friends and visit. It's more exciting than sitting on the couch! Plus I have a reason to get dressed in real clothes each day since I actually have to leave the house and see people. If I know I'm not going anywhere at all and I'm at home I'll put on comfy pajama clothes for the whole day. It's a shameful secret, but it's not really a secret. Also, I'm not really ashamed. Being lazy in the summer is kind of my thing? (Yes, read that with an upward inflection. Speaking of upward inflections: Uptalkers. Those people who say everything like it's a question. Just imagine me shaking my head right now because that's what I'm doing.) These are my clothes: dress: modcloth.com cardigan, hair bow: forever 21 shoes: xhileration - target belt: thrifted necklace: from Italy Hello! I'm smiling right at you in this picture! Cr...

Zebra & Dots

Image
I have never received so many compliments on campus about an outfit than when I wore this. I was surprised because I really had no ideas about what to wear that morning and just threw this on. I decided the polka dots and zebra print could work together. And it surely did! At least in my book. dress: romwe.com cardigan: forever 21 boots, belt: thrifted Some girl actually ran up to me to tell me I looked - and I quote, "fabulous". Which made me feel fabulous indeed! Although I was startled at first because she ran up to me from behind. She said something about my color matching or something. Hooray compliments! I like this back picture of me. Do I look like I'm trying to seduce you? Is it working? Today is day one of finals. I'm honestly not worried and am really just waiting out the days until I can go home for the summer. Less than a week and I'll be done. Woo! Happy happy Wednesday everyone!

My Cool Necklace, Zebra Print, and Bad Hair Day

Image
Just a colorful outfit from a couple weeks back. I was having a secret bad hair day. You can't tell because of my inconspicuous pony tail. dress: forever 21 cardigan: delia*s shoes: shoe carnival necklace: stella & dot belt: old How do you like my necklace ? I quite enjoy it. Mom bought it for me for Christmas. I used to wear beaded necklaces a lot, but I then started wearing charm-types. This one makes me want to break out all my beaded ones! I really like that the grey/clear color matches with pretty much anything. Anyway, I'm supposed to be studying. That probably won't happen for a little while because I'm really not feeling it. I just can't wait for it to be the weekend. Happy Thursday!

Yes, I Do Wear Jeans

Image
I often get asked if I ever wear jeans/pants/things-of-that-nature. The answer is yes, but I like to try to make jeans outfits "not boring". I just think there's more outfit variety and therefore more fun if I keep my dresses and skirts in regular rotation. They're more fun to style - according to me. As I have a couple weeks of sitting around the house for winter break I feel myself being drawn to my jeans more and more. I'll be wearing them when I don't have to go anywhere special. jeans: indidenim cardigan: forever 21 top: forever 21 shoes: xhileration; target headband: forever21.com earrings: thrifted belt: forever 21? I love these jeans so much. When I have a real grown-up job I'll be getting another pair of custom jeans! As of right now I'm done with fall semester and am home for the break. Hooray! Everything is Christmas-y here. It's going to be a good 3ish weeks, I can feel it. Happy Monday night!

Last Year's Birthday Dress

Image
These pictures turned out horrible. I must have been in a hurry. These are the best ones if that's tells you anything. What is this expression? I look angry. dress: evan picone; thrifted cardigan: forever 21 shoes: xhileration; target belt: ralph lauren; thrifted headband: forever 21 I thrifted this dress last year and wore it for my 20th birthday . I actually like the way I wore this dress last year better than this time, but I thought I'd try pairing brown things with it instead of black. I was so happy and birthday-y last year. Aw. Two more days until I'm 21! Happy Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday, everyone. Just a couple pictures of Jeanie's outfit from the other day: shorts: thrifted cardigan: delia*s top: probably forever 21 shoes: xhileration; target necklace: forever 21 No pictures actually from today, sadly. I went out to my apartment to get my mail. I was looking forward to receiving a check from doing basketball pep band last spring. And it came! We also went to this really good restaurant in Athens called The Grit. We like to share a big piece of their chocolate peanut butter cake everytime we go. I've already decided I want one like it for my 21st birthday: in the shape of a beer, of course!
