Remix: Navy Blue Button Down Skirt

How to style a blue button down skirt
one | two | three

All of a sudden button down skirts are all the rage - particularly denim ones. I've been wearing button down skirts (both thrifted and bought) for years though. And no, that's not a hipster-y answer, it's the truth and you can see it in these pictures! They go all the way back to 2010! It's kind of weird to see that I've had this Forever 21 navy blue skirt in my wardrobe for over 5 years, but that just means it's a versatile and classic piece. (See, you can find great pieces that last at Forever 21, believe it or not.)

This skirt has been worn in summer and winter, with plenty of color and with neutral palettes. It's a flattering shape and it has elastic on the waist which means I can wear it throughout giant meals and holiday weight fluctuations. It's fantastic!

I still enjoy a lot of these outfits and would wear them again. I think my all-time favorite is number 8 here. 1, 2 and 3 are favorites too. It has to be a good sign that I still like the majority of my prior outfits right? Which of these looks is your favorite?

Do you have a button-down skirt yet or would you pick one up now that they're all over the place? Here's a hint: you can find button down skirts everywhere in thrift stores. Most of the time they just need to be hemmed!

And for fun, how would you style this skirt? Give me some ideas!

Have a happy happy rest of your week and as always, thanks for stopping by!

I always did like denim skirts, but I didn't like how tight they felt after I ate something, hahaha. Your work it absolutely perfectly, though! I love how you can wear it throughout all the seasons and with so many things.

I love the skirt and olive green sweater combo! I recently bought a button down skirt that's red (and not denim). I like it well enough but I think that blue or black would match more things in my wardrobe.

Great looks!

Aww I really love seeing all the different ways you've styled it! Go you for having a pic of them all!

BTW, I nominated you for a Liebster Award on my blog today. Check out my post for more info on what that entails. It's something fun =)

I love the look of all of all of the outfits featuring button front skirts (and the one with the regular blue skirt), and all of your different hairstyles! I don't own a button down skirt so far, but I haven't ruled out buying one. You picked a lot of pretty tops to style with that skirt. I'm trying to imagine how it would look with a pink peplum top. I have a little trouble visualising beforehand so I'd probably lay a button down skirt out on a bed alongside any blouse I was thinking of styling with a button-down skirt. .
